ACA Formation for our Seminarians and Continuing
Formation for our Priests Our sacrificial gifts to the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal help provide appropriate theological education and formation for our seminarians as well as continuing education/formation opportunities for our priests. Our prayers and generous contributions to the 2019 Annual Catholic Appeal are in response to our belief in Jesus’ promise of life in abundance. Our priests teach us about Discipleship and journey with us as we discern our calling to prayer, ministry and sacrifice. Let us nurture vocations, sharing our gifts as we
are drawn closer to God.
St. Matthew’s is looking for a full-time maintenance person. If this is you, please call the School Office @ 752-6303, for more information.

ADORATION
Here is a happy example in a royal family
When St. Elizabeth of Hungary was a little girl and used to play about the palace with her companions, she would always pick a spot near the chapel so that every now and then, without being noticed, she might stop by the chapel door, kiss the lock, and say to Jesus, “My Jesus, I am playing, but I am not forgetting You. Bless me and my companions. I will see You again.” What a simple devotion. Feast Day 11/17
Risen Christ is open for us to have Adoration every Thursday in November, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day. The time will be from Noon to 6:00 pm. To sign up, call Evelyn at 260-6679.
General Announcements
When we face serious suffering, the hardest part is often dealing with the unpleasant surprise. We grieve not only the difficulty at hand, but the way that we wish things had turned out instead. In this weekend’s readings, Jesus is warning us that trial will come, but we do not need to be afraid because he will not leave us. When we took our vows on our wedding day, our promises mirrored those of Jesus. · After you receive that serious diagnosis, I will
take care of you. · When our savings is almost gone and you haven’t
found a job yet, we will work it out together. · When you bury your parents, I will weep with
you. We can be sure that trials will come, but they are less scary with the one we love at our side. Fortify your marriage by committing to pray together daily.
DAUGHTERS OF ISABELLA
PIE SUNDAYS The Daughters of Isabella will be continuing Pie Sundays beginning November 17th, and every 3rd weekend beginning in January. Once we return to the church, the Daughters will be honored to organize funeral luncheons. If you are a baker and would like to contribute to Pie Sundays, please call Sue Murray at 270-5922 or Marlene Stevens at 212-0276, to be placed on our calling list.
St. Matthew’s Giving Tree Our “Giving Tree” will be up near the gym doors after Thanksgiving. There will be gift tags for the taking. Some will be for a turkey, ham or Scrip cards. Take a tag and plan to bring the item in between December 1st and the 16th. Items can be brought into the school or parish office. Please do NOT drop them off at the Social Concerns office. Baskets will be distributed on December 18th.
Do You Know?
Do you know of a family that can use a Thanksgiving Basket? If so, forms can be found on the table in the church. Fill it out and turn it in to the Parish Office where it will be given to our Social Concerns committee. Application deadline is Friday, December 13th.
