Clean meter after EACH patient use following locally approved infection control policies. Thoroughly wipes the surface of the meter (top, bottom, left, and right sides) with locally approved germicidal wipe (i.e. PDI Sani-Cloth PLUS, Clorox wipe) a minimum of 3 times horizontally and 3 times vertically, avoiding the meter’s bar code scanner, electrical connector, and making sure that no fluid enters the test strip port. Allow to air dry. Never reuse a previously soiled wipe. (Clorox wipes used only for disinfecting the meters used on C. difficile isolation patients).
