Story Telling Competition Folklores from Around the World

“Stories break silence and nourish those who work, feel and dream” The telling and hearing of stories is a bonding ritual that breaks through illusions of separateness and activates a deep sense of our collective interdependence. To develop the moral and social values among our children , Story telling competition “Folklores from Around the World” was organized in Cambridge Kindergarten for classes Nursery,Kg1 and Kg2. The purpose of the competition was to enhance their speaking and listening skills and also to make them aware about the folklores of other countries like China, Japan, Korea, Russia, Africa and Australia. All the divergent stories narrated by kindergarterners were well founded and applaudable.

8TH ANNUAL FUNCTION 2017-18

The highly-awaited annual event of a school, awaited most-of-all by the students, the Annual Day was celebrated at Cambridge International School, Phagwara. The 8th Annual Day associated with it grace and glamour to culminate into a successful 2 day event themed Life Beyond Dreams. This theme was conceptualized and directed by the Umashanker Dance Safari, captained by Mr Umashanker Khilnani of Mumbai and his energetic team. In a span of 45 days, the students were prepared for a grand show celebrating themes like vivacious women, festivals like Bihu, culture of Punjab Bhangra and sports (Tennis, Cricket and football). The Cambrians learned not just dance but imbibed qualities like discipline, team work, synchronization and a lot more. The 2 day event was graced by Chief Guest Sh. Arpit Shukla (I.G Police) on one day and Chief Guest Sh. Yogeshwar Dutt (Freestyle Wrestler, Olympic Gold Medalist) on the other. The dignitaries also included Mr K S Bassi (Chairman, CIS Phagwara), Mrs Jasbir Bassi (Vice-Chairman), Mr Anmol Bassi (Secretary, CIS, Phagwara), honorable members of the I-League Education, Mr Jorawar Singh (Principal, CIS Phagwara) and few other distinguished personalities of the city. With the participation of nearly 1000 students, the function was a grand success.

SPELL BEE COMPETITION IN KINDERGARTEN

Spell bee is important because it aids in reading, it helps cement the connection that is shared between sounds and letters. The roots form the strongest base for anything, may it be humans, may it be plants or may it be language. The strongest root for language is thus, words. In Kindergarten, the students step into the atmosphere of learning and then their horizons expand over time. Thus, a spell bee competition at Kindergarten level is also a landmark achievement for winners. A Spell Bee competition was organized at Cambridge International School, Phagwara. It was a fun filled activity along with gaining a learning experience. It was a good platform for the children to learn more in the years to come.

OUR IDENTITY Kindergarteners are made to excel in all walks of life and the process starts there at that level. It is one of the aims that Cambridge International School, Phagwara strives to accomplish. This world is called a Global Village. The term of Globalization has bound the whole world into one. It, therefore, becomes necessary that students be aware of the specific elements of various countries. An activity named “Our Identity’ was conducted at the Kindergarten level at Cambridge International School, Phagwara. The Kindergarteners were introduced to various national symbols of various countries like Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and many more. They were made to create badges of various symbols. The kindergarteners were then made to share it with their near and dear ones. Thus, they not only learnt but also spread their knowledge.

CARNIVAL OF BRAZIL The year at Cambridge International School, Phagwara has focused on developing, enhancing and reshaping international relations to the best possible extent. All themes for events round the year included variety and diversity by focusing on diverse countries and their peculiarities. The Brazil carnival was celebrated in the school premises meant for the Kindergarteners. The day was fun-filled and the students were overwhelmed having a new learning experience. It was a learning experience for them.

NATIONAL ANTHEN SINGING

National Anthem is that part of a country’s rich heritage that explains how wealthy a country is in its culture. An anthem encompasses all that a country has to boast of. That is a good way of knowing more about any nation. Thus, at Cambridge International School, Phagwara National Anthems of various countries were prepared, practiced and sung by the students. It was just a way to honor the rich cultural heritage of a nation. The students learnt to respect and love the various aspects of the world.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Cambridge International School, Phagwara hopes and wishes to create oneness among humanity. Festivals are such colorful events that they fill joy in a day among people of all sects. Christmas is a cherished festival for us all. Cambrians made Christmas more bright and ruddy when a cultural program was organized for them. This celebration got completed with Carol singing, group dance and a group song. A street play was dramatized on the theme of Creation and Ministers of God. A cake-cutting ceremony marked the celebration accompanied by Jingles. It is through this that the students are taught oneness, love and brotherhood. Christmas is the birth of a holy spirit. Hence, it is a birth of peace and contentment. Children loved the celebration and went back home brimming with happiness.
