FACILITY The meet will be held at the Grizzly Pool, which is located next to the Fieldhouse, southwest of the UM Washington Grizzly Football Stadium on the campus of the University of Montana in Missoula. The pool is a seven lane, 25 yard regulation short course pool. The pool is 12 feet at the start end and 3.5 feet at the turn end. The competition course has not been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). Warm up/cool down lanes are not available.The timing system is Colorado Timing with touchpads at both ends of the pool, including three manual backup systems. The starting system is Colorado Timing System. New Spectrum Xcellerator starting platforms give swimmers exposure to the latest racing advantage. Automatic anti-slip backstroke start “wedges” will be available to improve the starts of competitive backstroke swimmers. Construction activities have closed the parking lot to the east of the pool, so be prepared to park in alternate lots.

MEET FORMAT This will be a prelims/finals championship meet. Championship rules will apply There will be no age-groups; only men and women's disciplines. All entered swimmers must achieve the stated qualifying times (see attached Time Standards). The 1650 free, 500 free, 400 IM and all relays will be swum as timed finals during prelims. All other events will be swum in prelim/finals championship format. Events will be swum as listed on the schedule of events with the exception that: Based on entries, the meet referee reserves the right to reseed and swim the 1650 free, 500 free and 400 IM into mixed gender heats. The 1650 free, 500 free and 400 IM will be seeded and swum fastest to slowest.

Swimmers in the 1650 free and 500 free must provide their own counters and timers. Positive check-in will be required for all swimmers 1650 free, 500 free, & 400 IM.

Based on meet entry numbers, prelims may be swum as either a 6 or 7 lane format. Either 10-minute warm-up/cool-down breaks or a warm-up/cool- down lane will be provided for the swimmers' needs. Finals will be run as a 7- lane format with 10-minute warm-up/cool-down breaks regardless of meet entry numbers.

The MAC Fall Invitational Age Group Meet will take place during the break between prelims and finals both Saturday and Sunday. Please DO NOT leave any personal belongings on deck during this time, or meet personal will remove it for you. Thank you!

SAFETY The Montana Swimming Safety guidelines are in effect for this meet and will be enforced. For circle swimming during warm-ups and cool downs, swimmers must enter the pool using a three point entry. Coaches are advised to closely supervise their swimmers at all times. NO running or horseplay will be tolerated. A safety marshal will be on deck.

RACING STARTS Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by an USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by an USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Any swimmers who must start in the water shall be listed in a separate document returned with the entries.

RULES This meet will be conducted in accordance with the current USA Swimming and Montana Swimming Rules and Regulations, except where rules therein are optional and exceptions are stated. Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms. Visual recording devices, including cell phones, are not permitted behind the starting block area.Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is not appropriate and is prohibited. No glass containers, tobacco, or alcoholic beverages are allowed in the swimming venue.The USA Swimming Code of Conduct and athlete protection provisions will be enforced. All persons acting in any coaching capacity on deck must be currently registered coach members of USA Swimming.There is no food allowed on deck or in locker rooms. Food may be kept and consumed only in the stands, hallway, or, for officials, in the hospitality room. Swimmer, official, and coach registration will be confirmed with Montana Swimming Registration Chairperson prior to the start of the meet. casting and other forms of obtaining images of athletes participating in the meet. Entry into the meet is acknowledgement and consent to this fact.This is a closed deck meet.

ELIGIBILITY All swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming, Inc or Masters with a current USMS number. Swimmers must be registered prior to entry deadline. We allow for on-deck registration, the USA registration Fee $86.00 plus a $25.00 penalty for late registrations. Age as of the first day of the meet shall determine the age group in which the swimmer must compete.

SWIMMERS WITH DISABILITIES

MAC welcomes all swimmers with disabilities as described in the USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, Article 106, to compete at the meet. Disabled swimmers or their coaches are required to provide advance notice in writing to the meet referee and meet director to arrange for any needed accommodations including personal assistants required and/or registered service animals by the meet entry date. It is at the discretion of the meet referee to determine whether the needed accommodations can be met by the meet resources. Failure to provide advance notice may limit the Missoula Aquatic Club’s ability to accommodate all requests.

ENTRIES 1. Entries are to be submitted using one of three methods:2. 1. Teams should e-mail entries to [email protected] using Hy-Tek or Team

Unify software (preferred method) by November 3, 2016. Along with your meet entry file, include your team meet entry report (relay and individual entries) and team entry fee report from Team Manager or Team unify (in PDF, word or rich text format). Do not include relay swimmer names with your relay entries. Please e-mail all reports. Completed paperwork, signed waiver, team entry report, and entry fees must be received by November 3, 2016.

may submit your entries on the enclosed master entry sheet. Hy-Tek Lite entry software may be downloaded for free from the Hy-Tek website to enter swimmers. Swimmers may also e-mail the entry data to the registrar by November 3, 2016. Entry information must be completely filled out as follows: first and last name of swimmer, actual age of swimmer, sex of swimmer, USAS/FINA registration number of each swimmer, event and entry time.

5.3. All relay-only swimmers must be listed and pay the per swimmer surcharge.

ENTRY LIMITS Each swimmer may compete in a maximum of six (6) individual events.maximum of one (1) individual event is allowed on Friday, three (3) individual events on Saturday, and three (3) individual events on Sunday. Eachswimmer may compete in (2) relays each day.

ENTRY VERIFICATION

An email will be sent to the person submitting the entry confirming receipt of the entry within 48 hours of receipt.

ENTRY DEADLINES The Meet Registrar must receive entries by the date and time listed in the Deadline and Meeting Summary. Entries must be received by: November 3, 2016Mail fees to: Kim Fee, Missoula Aquatic Club, P.O. Box 7434, Missoula, MT 59807.Phone/e-mail entries for individuals only (not teams) will be accepted until November 3, 2016. Send the individual entries to (Kim Fee) at [email protected]. QUALIFYING TIMES Qualifying times will be 13-14 A times (Time Standards attached below). Swimmers will be allowed two (2) bonus swims for each qualifying time achieved, up to the maximum of six (6) individual events for the meet. There are no time standards for the bonus swims.

ENTRY FEESMake checks payable to: Missoula Aquatic Club (MAC) in US dollars; No entries will be

accepted without payment of fees. All fees are non-refundableIndividual Event $2.00 per eventRelays $8.00 per relaySurcharge $18.00 per Swimmer surcharge

An entry fee of $18.00 plus $2.00 per event will be charged. The relay fee is $8.00 per relay. Make checks payable to Missoula Aquatic Club. No entries will be accepted without payment of fees. There will be no refunds.

SEEDING Each swimmer will be seeded according their submitted times in short courseyards then long course meters, then short course meters. Do not convert anylong course times. Long course and short course meter times will be entered as submitted and will not be converted. There will be no deck seeding.The 500 free, 400 IM, and 1650 free will be seeded and swum fastest to slowest.

CHECK-IN A positive check-in, at the announcer’s table, will be required 30 minutes before the start of each session for the following events: 400 IM, 500 free., and 1650 free. Failure to check-in for these event by the stated deadline will result in the swimmer being scratched and not seeded.Swimmers entered in the 500 free & 1650 free must provide their own counters and timers.

SCRATCHES

TIME TRIALS

Scratches must be reported by the end of the coaches meeting each day (by 8:00 a.m.). Championship rules will apply for any swimmer failing to scratch by the deadline and not reporting to their start.

Time Trials (Sanction # 1028) will be offered on a time-and-demand-available basis at the meet referee’s discretion at the conclusion of preliminary competition. Only swimmers entered in at least one individual event may enter. Swimmers may compete in a maximum of six individual events including time trials, with no more than three individual events per day. Qualified swimmers may enter six individual events, but must properly scratch from one event to compete in one time-trial event. All time trials will be deck entered. If proof of time is required, the swimmer or their team will provide any necessary proof. The coach, swimmer, or parent/guardian may enter the swimmer into the time trials. The time trial entry fee is $3.00 per event. Further information regarding the time trials will be announced during the meet.

SCORING Individual scoring: 8-6-5-4-3-2-1. Relay scoring: 16-12-10-8-6-4-2. Only the top scoring relay teams in each age group and gender from each team will be eligible for points.

AWARDS Medals for 1st – 7th place, men and women, will be given.

WARM-UPS In accordance with USA Swimming guidelines, there will be a published warm-up procedure for all swimmers and coaches attending the meet. The Marshal will ensure all teams, coaches, and swimmers follow all warm-up procedures. Meet Management reserves the right to change warm-up times according to the number of entries. The warm-ups will be open. The referee reserves the right to insert a warm-up/cool-down land or 5-10 minute warm-up breaks for the benefit of the swimmers throughout the meet as needed.

On Friday, there will be a 30-minute, open warm-up beginning at 5:45 pm. Saturday and Sunday mornings the pool will be open at 6:15 AM for early, open warm-ups but all swimmers MUST have their coach on deck during this time. On Saturday, the general team warm-up session will begin at 7:00am. On Sunday, general team warm-ups will also start at 7:00 a.m. Swimmers should enter the pool using a three point entry for warm-ups.Warm-up times are subject to change depending upon the number of entries.Check the Missoula Aquatic Club website (www.macswim.org) after Wednesday November 9th, or your meet program for the actual warm-up and start times.

OFFICIALS/TIMERS To the extent possible, teams are asked to provide timers and other certified meet officials. On deck training time will be available for those wishing to train as an official. Email the meet referee prior to the meet if you plan to officiate and sign in at the officials meeting each day in the hospitality room. Trainees should attend the pre-meet officials meetings daily and sign in. All officials on deck must be registered and certified with USA Swimming and registrations will be verified by the MT Swimming Registration Chair. Any official’s assistance will be greatly appreciated and will help to ensure a great meet for the swimmers.

Each club will be responsible for providing timers in proportion to their team's athlete numbers at all sessions. A sign-up sheet will be posted at the announcer's table specifying lane assignments.

The officials’ meeting will be Saturday and Sunday during the warm-up period at 7:30am. During finals, the meeting will be 30 minutes before the start of finals.

COACHES All coaches on deck must be registered and certified with USA Swimming. Coach registration will be verified with the MT Swimming Registration Chair. There will be a coaches meeting on Saturday at 8:00am in the hospitality room. Other meetings may be held at the meet referee’s discretion. Meet Management requests that at least one coach representative from each team attend all coaches meetings.

CONCESSIONS/SWIM SHOP

All protests should be given to the meet referee.

There will be a hospitality area open to all coaches and officials.

Refreshments will be available at the concession stand. The Missoula Aquatic Club parents will be operating a concession stand and swim shop during the meet serving a variety of healthy foods for breakfast, lunch and snacks.

SPECTATORS This is a closed deck meet. Only athletes, certified coaches, officials, timers, and

meet management may be on deck. Spectators may view meet events from the spectator stands. Please keep all stairs clear for swimmers to ascend and descend safely.
