SPECIFICATIONS & DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS

Qualitv: Bulk rock salt that is to be fumished and delivered is to be in accmdance with AASHTO Specilication fVII43, Sodium Chloride rype I, Grade I The rock salt is to be lice of any foreign materials (mud. rocks, wood, etc.). Loads contaminated by foreign materials will be rejected by the Village and are to be replaced at the Contractor's expense within three (3) business clays of notice by the Village. All salt is to be as lump lice as possible: no salt with lumps larger than two (2) inches in diameter will be accepted

Quantities: The estimated quantity of salt required by the Village during a winter salting season is 4.400 tons The Village guaranties to purchase a minimum quantity of 3.500 tons ol salt under the terms and conditions of this contract, and requires that the Contractor have up to 5,200 tons of salt available for the Village at the unit price bid herein The Village will place minimum orders of 500 tons

Delivery Requirements: Salt shipments shall be delivered to the Village of Skokie Public Works facility at 9050 Gross Point Rei, Skokie, IL, 60077 Deliveries arc to be made between 6:30a.m.. and 2:3Dp .. m, Monday thnr Friday Arrangements can be made for after hours and weekend deliveries by contacting the designated PW representative

Deliveries of salt are required within live (5) business days (fVIonclay thru Friday, excluding holidays) of order placement. An order placed prior to noon on any business day would be considered the first clay of the live day requirement All salt deliveries shall be made with trucks equipped with tailgate dump trailers All order releases shall be delivered to completion. unless mutually agreed upon by the Village and Contractor. The Village reserves the right to require that delivery trucks be directed to a scale in the vicinity to check the accuracy of loads being cleliverecl.

Liquidated Oilll1aQes: If Contractor is unable to make delivery within five (5) business clays as specified above, the Village shall have the right to retain $1.00 per ton, per business day as liquidated damages on the undelivered portion of the order

DESCRIPTION:

t~uik Ice Control SoH is a coarse screened, translucent to white crystalline solid obtained from a do mal salt deposit in Louisiana by physical mining. The salt is exploited by drilling and blasting with explosives in a manner similar to that used in other types of mineral mining. The mined salt is then crushed, screened and hoisted to the surface where lt is loaded directly into barges.
