John Amos NoslerApril 4, 1913 - October 10, 2010

After experiencing a bullet failure on the hide of a mud-caked bull moose, John began a pursuit of the product design that

would become his life's work. Armed with perseverance, disci-pline and determination, he created a concept that was uniquely different-he called it the Partition bullet, because of the barrier that separated the bullet into two sections. One year later, John and a friend traveled back to British Columbia loaded with his

new Partition bullets. The results were two moose with two shots, and the rest is history.

Message from the President:When I was a kid growing up on the outskirts of Bend, Oregon, the Montgomery Ward and Sears catalogs were famous for oering “Good”, “Better” and “Best” quality levels for the same product. As one would expect, the quality designations always reected the purchase price--so quality often became a luxury based on what the consumer could aord. Here’s a shooter’s denition of “High Quality”A typical bullet goes from zero to three thousand feet per second in just twenty-four inches of travel. Upon exiting the barrel, the gases and unburned powder particles are blowing past the bullet at a momentary velocity that, in many cases, may exceed six thou-sand feet per second. On the way to the target, the bullet will spin at a rate somewhere in the neighborhood of 250,000 RPM—and all of this is happening in a fraction of a second! Repeat this four more times, and create a ve shot group that measures a mere one-half inch and you have not only dened “high quality”—you have lived it!While “looks” are an important sign of quality, it is truly what’s on the inside that counts. A rie, a loaded cartridge, or a single bullet may look good but, if they are not properly designed—or if they are not constructed with quality materials—or if they are not assembled with strict procedures, all of the perceived quality can be lost.In ries, ammunition and bullets, some of the most important aspects of product quality won’t come into play until you touch the trigger. But, when you reach that critical moment, it is the highest level of quality that will give the hunter or the competitor that critical edge.Quality vs. PriceWhile price is not always a measure of quality, it is true that a low price is a likely indicator of lesser quality. For the most part, it is simple manufacturing economics. Why do Nosler bullets cost more than some brands? It’s because some of our designs are more dicult to produce, and we take extra time to ensure that our machines are producing the very best bullets possible. Introducing Varmageddon™ and our new Safari Loads2012 is the year of Varmageddon™, our newest entry into the varmint bullet and ammuni-tion market. From the drawing board, to ballistics and manufacturing, this is a product that has been designed and engineered to provide a high level of quality at a very aord-able price. Did we accomplish the impossible? No, we just used some good old American ingenuity to bring you a truly remarkable product at a truly aordable price. Our new Safari loads are planted rmly at the other end of the price spectrum. Late last year, we partnered with our friends at Norma to create the very best, and most reliable, dangerous game loads possible. To make certain they are up to our standard, our new Safari Loads were “Safari Tested” in the world-famous Selous of Tanzania—and the perfor-mance was excellent. Yes, our new Safari Loads are expensive, but when you are facing a cape bualo at 35 yards, price really doesn’t matter!

Ruptures instantly at the thin jacket mouth, yet the gradual thickening along the bullet’s axis controls expansion and curls the jacket uniformly outward at high and low velocities.

Nosler’s special lead-alloy, dual-core provides superior mushrooming characteristics at virtually all impact velocities.

What is Lubalox®?Lubalox® is the trade name Winchester uses to describe a black oxide process. It is a very thin oxide bullet coating, often compared to the bluing on a steel rearm.

What are the benets of Lubalox®?The primary benet of Lubalox is reduced barrel fouling. The process creates a surface on the bullet jacket, which increases the number of shots possible between cleanings. Unlike moly-coated bullets, Lubalox-coated bullets leave the barrel residue-free and do not require barrel “seasoning”. Additionally, unlike uncoated bullets that tarnish over time, Lubalox protects the surface of the bullet jacket, keeping it looking like new.

Will Lubalox® harm the gun barrel?Lubalox does not harm the barrel. In fact, testing shows that the coating often reduces barrel fouling.

Lubalox® coating is not a Moly coating.

The Ballistic Tip Lead-Free™ (BTLF) is everything that varmint and predator hunters expect from a Ballistic Tip®, in a lead-free design. The at-based, lead-less bullet features Nosler’s exclusive Fragmenting Copper Core Technology™ (patent pending) which exhibits immediate and rapid expansion, initiated by its metallic-colored polymer tip, at practical varmint shooting velocities of 1600 fps and above.

The BTLF can safely be used in all lead-free zones or shooting ranges that require non-magnetic bullets. Users can be condent of the same performance and quality that the Ballistic Tip® has made famous for more than 25 years.

Ballistic Tip Lead-Free bullets are oered at the same MSRP as standard Ballistic Tip® bullets in 50ct. and 100ct. boxes.

Varmint hunters have everything to gain by shooting Nosler’s Ballistic Tip Lead-Free bullets. The BTLF bullets contain a “Fragmenting Copper Core” that rapidly expands into tiny bits at velocities down to 1,600 feet per second. Accuracy is also right up there with regular lead-core Ballistic Tips. The 35-grain BTLF bullets loaded in Nosler’s Trophy Grade™ Varmint .22-250 ammunition averaged .95 inches for three, ve-shot groups at 100 yards and .81 inches with Trophy Grade™ Varmint .223 Remington loads. I’ve made the switch, and I’m sticking to it.

“The new Nosler E-Tip is a lead-free bullet that doesn’t compromise on accuracy, expansion, or penetration. We’ve put many, many hours into every step of the process leading up to its initial release. The eld tests proved that all the time in development really paid o: we even surprised ourselves and we knew we had a superior product! The expansion is incredibly uniform while still retaining 95%+ of its weight. The only problem we experienced during the eld test was recovering a sample. No matter what they hit, they punched right through.”Bob Nosler

“Even with the new generation of 30 caliber, 155-grain bullets on the market today, I am getting accuracy and ballistic results out to 1000 yards that do not take a backseat to any of them. To say that I have been happy over the years with the Nosler Custom Competition is an understatement.”

Nosler’s ballisticians are expert handloaders. It’s their expertise that goes into the making of NoslerCustom® Ammunition. It’s not just knowledge and special attention that sets this ammunition apart. The key is that we are combining the very best components, in the exact amounts, with decades of practical, hands-on experience. The result is a custom load that can bring your shot to a new level of consistency.

Using load data for an individual cartridge that we developed in our own ballistics lab, we load each round of NoslerCustom® Ammunition with steps not typically taken with factory-loaded ammunition

At Nosler®, we’ve been custom-loading ammunition for years; not for sale, but for our own personal hunts and daily production testing. For over 60 years, our team has known what it takes to make ammunition that is not only accurate but consistent.

Each piece of brass bears the “Nosler” headstamp and is manufactured under the company’s strict philosophy of “quality rst.” With uncompromising attention to detail, each round of NoslerCustom cartridge brass is made to precise dimen-sional standards and tolerances using top-grade materials to maximize accuracy, consistency and enhance case life. Flash holes are deburred, necks are deburred and chamfered, followed by the same rigorous quality controls that Nosler bullets have experienced for 64 years. For brass, that means every piece is hand-inspected, weight-sorted and then packaged in boxes of 25, 50 or 100 fully prepped and ready to load.

OSLER 28

Build the perfect load has long been the motto of handloaders loyal to Nosler brand bullets–and was the sole reason we developed NoslerCustom® cartridge brass. Intro-duced in 2005, the NoslerCustom® cartridge brass line is ready to load. Manufactured with the traditional Nosler philosophy of uncompromising attention to detail, NoslerCustom® cartridge brass is created to exact dimensional standards and tolerances, using quality materials for maximum accuracy and consistency potential while extending case life. NoslerCustom® brass also undergoes the rigorous quality

control that premium Nosler bullets have experienced for over 60 years. Each piece of brass is completely prepped and ready to load. The case mouths have been chamfered and deburred. The ash holes are deburred and then checked for proper alignment. Each piece of brass is visually inspected at the factory and sealed in the box until you open them. Together, Nosler bullets and brass are the ingredients for the perfect load.

For years, the concept of a Nosler rie had been discussed with the goal of bringing something very special to the world of custom rearms. In 2005 this vision was realized with the rst production of NoslerCustom limited edition ries. Seven years later, we are proud to have had our ries receive some of the most prestigious awards for excellence in the shooting sports industry. From the inception of the program we have held that the epitome of a modern hunting rie must possess all of the nest features of several proven rearm designs. The rie must be simple, rugged, fully weather resistant, and provide minute-of-angle accuracy with readily available factory ammunition. Nosler® ries are designed to exceed this goal.

At the heart of the rie is the Nosler® action, a tremendously strong and mechanically precise platform designed for rugged reliability in the eld while providing bench-rest accuracy. Now available in a variety of congurations, our ries are hand-crafted at the Nosler plant in Oregon using premium components assembled with great care to ensure function and performance in any eld condition. Every rie we build comes standard with an all-weather Cerakote™ nish, a nely tuned custom trigger, a hand-lapped match grade barrel and an unrivalled out-of-the-box accuracy guarantee with our factory ammunition.

Nosler ries have been tested in some of the most trying conditions on the planet. From the sizzling deserts of East Africa, to the frozen tundra of the far North, you can be sure that a Nosler rie is up to the challenge. Professionals trust Nosler.

Load data for each cartridge is presented in a graphic format, giving the reader a quick comparison of load velocities for each bullet weight. Nosler’s system uses simple, easy-to-read bar graphs to show velocity variation between powders, making powder selection faster and simpler than relying on data alone. Each cartridge’s data entry shows information for starting, intermediate and maximum loads for each powder listed.

Each cartridge section begins with an introduction by a dierent well-known writer or industry name. Nosler® continues to incorporate “Comments From the Lab” for many cartridges, a highly informative section that helps reloaders save time and money at the reloading bench. These pages are written by the Nosler® ballistics team and provide valuable insight and advice for working up accurate, eective loads.
