Statement of need: The need for this activity stems from the ever changing and expanding fund of knowledge that exists in the Wound Care field. Also the strain of chronic wounds on both the patient and health system as a whole provide reason to host an educational conference. This symposium will address current concerns and knowledge gaps as well as provide various solutions to everyday problems faced by wound care practitioners and patients. This CME activity aims to provide Wound Care professionals and specialists with up-to-date knowledge and techniques of current wound care practices.

Program objectives: All Northwell Health CME activities are designed to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:

– Review and dissect vascular anatomy and develop new techniques for wound debridement and determine how the results can be used to formulate treatment plans.

– Assess the ways in which diabetes guides the formulation of medical, surgical, nutritional and podiatric treatment plans.

– Discuss the use of current topical wound therapies for optimal wound healing.

– Summarize advances in managing traumatic wounds and their impact on patients.

– Implement pain management innovations for chronic wound patients.

– Review skills needed to assess wounds and demonstrate dressing management.

Target audience: Wound Care Specialists, Vascular Surgeons, Dermatologists, Podiatrists, Nutritionists, Physical Therapists, Orthotists, Prosthetists, Pedorthists, PAs, NPs, RNs, Residents, and Fellows.

CME accreditation: Northwell Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
