INTRODUCTIONCongratulations on your upcoming marriage! As you know, marriage is God’s idea. He was the one who created man and woman and put them together in a covenant relationship that we call marriage. We hope that your wedding day is very special, and we want to help you make your marriage a wonderful, lifelong commitment. God intended marriage to be a relationship of oneness, intimacy and profound connectedness.

The Wedding Guidelines explain how weddings at Northview Church work. We believe that marriage is a holy and sacred institution created by God. As a church, we believe that it is a responsibility that God has entrusted to our care. The Northview Wedding Guidelines and standards reflect the weighty nature of this special relationship.

This standard reflects the uniqueness of our church and will not be true of every church you may contact.

Please carefully read the following and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

WEDDING SERVICESWEDDING SCHEDULER

Claire Schultz will serve as your Wedding Scheduler and is the initial contact for weddings at all Northview campuses.

Phone: 317.846.2884 Ext. 1006 Email: [email protected]

WEDDING DIRECTORS

A Wedding Director at Northview is assigned to your wedding to assist you during the rehearsal and ceremony. The couple will meet with the Wedding Director to discuss details about the facility, equipment use and the order of the ceremony. The director does not assist in planning the wedding; he or she directs the rehearsal and wedding to ensure they run smoothly and confirms the setup and cleanup of your wedding.

PASTOR

A Northview Pastor will be assigned to facilitate your wedding. You will need to arrange this with the Wedding Scheduler at least 4 months prior to your wedding. Requests for pastors to officiate an offsite wedding will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

AUDIO TECHNICIANS

An Audio Technician will be assigned to your wedding to ensure your audio needs are met during the wedding rehearsal and ceremony, including operating sound during the ceremony and setting up the audio equipment. The Audio Technician will contact you at least 30 days before your wedding to discuss any needs or concerns you may have.

VIDEO ENGINEER

If needed, a Video Engineer will be assigned to your wedding to display visual graphics you may have for your wedding ceremony. The Video Engineer provides multimedia, DVD and PowerPoint services but does not videotape the wedding. The Video Engineer will contact you at least 30 days before your wedding to obtain any computer files needed for this service. A 30-day timeframe is needed to ensure that both parties’ equipment is compatible. If this service is not desired, please inform the church office as soon as possible.

SETUP & MAINTENANCE

Northview provides setup and maintenance/cleanup for your wedding, including the ceremony space, reception space, bridal and groom’s rooms and restrooms. This does not include setting up or removing decorations. A setup/cleaning fee will be required based on which Northview Campus you choose for your wedding.

NORTHVIEW CHURCH MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTSThe following requirements apply to all couples who are being married at Northview or by a Northview Pastor, regardless of the wedding location.

• You or an immediate family member must be a Northview member, having been adult water-baptized from any church after receiving Christ as your Savior. This needs to be taken care of at least four months before your wedding date to fulfill the requirements.

• You must affirm and adhere to Northview’s Premarital Commitment, which you will sign in your meeting with your Campus Pastor.

• You must complete Becoming One, Northview’s prep-for-marriage course.

PREMARITAL COMMITMENTWe believe that marriage is God’s creation and that He created marriage to be a covenant relationship between one man and one woman. In the marriage relationship we see a glimpse of the covenant relationship that God has established with His people through His son, Jesus Christ. We agree, through the grace and strength of God, to live according to the premarital standards expressed by God in the Bible. By signing below, we affirm our personal faith in Jesus Christ and express our desire and commitment to live according to the following:

- We affirm that we have both placed our trust and faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and have received Him as our Savior and Lord. (2 Corinthians 6:14)

- We agree to build our premarital relationship and future marriage on the principles that are found in God’s Word. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

- We believe that God has established the marriage covenant as a lifelong commitment and are committed to a lifelong marriage. (Matthew 19:4-6)

- We agree that maintaining a sexually pure life honors God and is what He desires for our relationship. Thus, we submit our premarital relationship to His will and commit to maintain personal integrity by abstaining from sexually stimulating contact from now until our wedding day. (Hebrews 13:4)

In the presence of God, I make this commitment:
