Breakfast & Nutrition

School breakfasts are healthy! Eating a healthy breakfast at school

provides nutritional benefits and leads to improved eating habits throughout

the school day and at home. Studies have shown that students who eat

breakfast have higher educational and nutritional achievements than students

who don’t. Child Nutrition Services invites you to join us for breakfast!

Offer vs. Serve

Offer vs. Serve (OVS) is an approved USDA method for

meal service and menu planning. Northside has implemented this

method at all campuses District-wide. OVS allows students to decline minimum

food components offered in a reimbursable breakfast or lunch. OVS has several

benefits, including permitting students to choose the foods they want to eat, and

reducing food costs and waste. Because students may choose fewer selections

under OVS, guidance is provided on what constitutes a reimbursable lunch and

breakfast. Students choosing more or less than required will be charged à la

carte pricing. For more information, contact your Cafeteria Manager.
