GUIDELINES FOR CONDITIONAL REGISTRATION (CLUB PLATES)
All NRVVCC members should familiarize themselves with the NSW RMS rules and club rules surrounding how to use your vehicles on Conditional registration, together with the requirement to
carry certain documents in the vehicle whenever it is being used.
If you are on the log book trial, the RMS issued log book must be completed by the member before you use the vehicle for anything other than NRVVCC club outings. Vehicles not on log book, the member should phone/email the secretary when a movement is needed for anything other than
club outings.
Any member with vehicles(s) conditionally registered through the NRVVCC and who do not attend a minimum of three club events per calendar year (not including registration day & meetings) may be asked by the committee to show cause as to why the club should sanction the renewal of their
registration in the following year.
The Club cannot afford the risk of the system being abused and the subsequent loss of the benefits of these worthwhile concessions for other Club members.

and input over many years as a member of the club. To the retiring committee members
and those who were elected, the club appreciates your contribution.

Arrival of the Byron Bay Train
Vernon & Allan Keys travelled to Byron Bay to witness the arrival of the solar
powered (diesel assisted when needed) train which arrived in the early hours of the 3rd
November. Knowing Allan, he got his hands dirty in a minor capacity which gave him
the opportunity for a brief sit in the driver’s seat.
The train should be running before or just after Christmas and perhaps a future
venue for a club run.

The Railway Shop
Designed for express passenger services, by the N.S.W.G.R. Mechanical Branch, the 38 class
proved to be one of the “great locomotives” of Australia. Five locomotives of this class, built
by Clyde Engineering (Granville) were streamlined while the remaining 25, which were built
in the department’s workshops, were of standard design.
Class leader 3801 is the best known locomotive, having served on major passenger trains,
particularly “The Flyer” to Newcastle. During the 1960’s a 3801 gained fame when it hauled
many “enthusiast specials” culminating with the historic Sydney Perth run in 1970.
3801 entered into service in January 1943 and is now preserved for excursions. Cylinders …………. 55 x 65

The Ford Model ‘K’ Many model K’s survived into the early to mid, teens, and then disappeared. Ford Motor
Company was still printing a parts list book for the Model ‘K’ in 1913. After that, I think the
K’S that survived were few and far between.
Another way to look at Ford model legacies is to see how many of that Model survived today.
For the Model B, rarest of the Ford models, seven of the original 500 survive, or about 1.5%.
A rule of thumb for early cars is 1%. If that is true, Fords have survived at a better rate than
most marquees.
In my opinion, that’s better than an average rate is for several reasons, Ford Motor Company
supported their cars from the start, and I have articles stating that all models were supported
with parts into 1915.

1905 Model ‘F’ Ford 1906 Model ‘K’ Ford
1909 Model ‘T’ Ford
If you parked every Model T Ford ever built, end to end, they would stretch around
54,000 kilometres. That’s one and a quarter times around the circumference of the
Earth!!!
