Body Temperature

What is body temperature? Body temperature means the inner temperature of human body. Normal body temperature refers to healthy person’s body temperature, and it has a slight variation within a certain range. Body temperature is usually 0.5℃ higher in the evening, compared with at dawn: body temperature has some variations according to environment, time slot, activity, and measurement position. * Maximum and minimum body temperature range by body part can vary depending on individuals.

New Born Baby’s Body Temperature Management

Check new born baby’s body temperature by calculating the mean value, after measuring the baby’s body temperature at a certain time in the morning and in the evening, respectively, for several days. Body temperature can change 0.5℃ according to environmental change. For example, when body temperature is 36.7℃ at 8 o’clock in the morning and 37.3℃ at 8 o’clock at night, the range of normal body temperature is 36.7℃~37.3℃, and mean body temperature is 37℃. If the new born baby’s body temperature is higher by more than 1℃, compared with mean body temperature, the baby is regarded as having a fever.

It is good to maintain indoor temperature between 24℃ and 26℃ and indoor humidity between 40% and 60%. A thermometer and a hygrometer in winter need to be placed in line with the height of a new born baby’s living space.

In case washing a new born baby, maintain the surrounding temperature between 24℃ and 27℃, and wash the baby with water between 38℃ and 40℃ for about 5 minutes.Clean moisture adequately, after washing the baby, and replenish water making the baby drink barley tea or juice. In winter, it is good to wash a new born baby from 11:00 to 14:00. If sweats cool down due to cold air, the baby may catch a cold or his/her cheeks or hands are likely to get chapped.

Mothers need to understand that breast-fed babies take mother’s milk in a certain range of temperature similar to body temperature, and therefore it is good to maintain the temperature of dry milk at 38℃.

Precautions before Using the Product

Carefully read this user manual before using the product.- Use this product between 16℃ and 40℃ and within 95% humidity. -Do not expose the product below -20℃ or above +50℃ and more than 95% humidity (≥95℃RH).- Stop using this product in case it is damaged or it does not normally work, and then ask for a repair through a store or an agency where you bought the product.- Do not modify the use of the product and repair the product. We are not responsible for malfunctions or damages caused by disassembling the product.- When the product is not used for a long time, keep it, after detaching the batteries from the product.- When you replace the batteries, collect them separately from general garbage.- Do not use the product contacting it with any inflammable materials and heating devices.- Comply with the safety regulations, when this thermometer is used for infants or new born babies.

Precautions in Using the Product

- Measured body temperature can be inaccurate, when the measuring posture is not right.- Body temperature measured on the right forehead and left forehead may be different.- Malfunctions and damages can be caused, when liquid permeates the thermometer.- Check the mode of the thermometer upon measurement.- When you look at the OLED display while pressing the button to check the measured value in measuring body temperature, a wrongly measured value can be displayed. Always put the temperature sensing part on the subject to be measured, detach the finger from the button, and listen to the measurement result sound. And then, check the measured temperature through the OLED display.

The measured body temperature cannot supersede doctor’s diagnosis or consultation.See a doctor, when abnormal body temperature result is found.

07. Preparations before Using the Product

- Use the product within the surrounding temperature between 16℃ and 40℃ and 95% humidity.

- Check the battery connection status.

- Maintain adequate distance from any inflammable materials or devices that may intervene in the measurement.

■ Battery connection

This thermometer uses two AAA batteries.

- Press the battery cover (①) in the middle of the thermometer and open the cover pushing it to the arrow direction (②).

- Check the positive and negative poles of the batteries, put them, and close the cover.

1) Separately collect the replaced batteries in a collection box, since they can be a cause to environmental pollution.2) When the thermometer is not used for a long time, store the batteries after taking them out so as to prevent electric discharge and the leakage of liquid.

- The OLED display starts to be shown, when the power button is pressed. The product is in the body temperature measuring mode, when power is supplied.

- Press the measuring button placing the thermometer on the temple located 1~2cm away from the forehead above the eyebrow.- Maintain some distance from the thermometer until measuring sound is heard, after the button sound is heard.- As the forehead temperature is different depending on measuring positions, check the body temperature with the highest value by measuring 2~3 times at least.

Usual time (Measure on the temple)

On the forehead located 1~2cm away from the end of the eyebrow

Sweating (Measure at the back of the earlobe)

On the slightly sunken part at the back of the earlobe

When a person to be measured sweats around the forehead, we recommend measuring on the back of the earlobe.Body temperature measurement around the artery at the back of the earlobe can give relatively more accurate measurement, because the part is less affected by temperature change.

3) Turn off the power

- Power is automatically off, when the product is not in use for more than 1 minute.

- When the body temperature of an infant/a child is measured, he/she may struggle, and thus distance between skin and the sensor may not be maintained constantly. In this case, a measurement error may occur, and therefore remeasurement is needed, after he/she calms down.- Measure the body temperature of a person, after he/she is stabilized at room temperature (16℃~25℃).- Body temperature measurement can be inaccurate in the following cases: after workout, when it rains, after one’s returning home, and immediately after bathing.- For precise measurement, measure body temperature, after removing hair, foreign substances on the forehead surface or makeup between the thermometer and forehead (skin).- Measure around the temple located 1 to 2cm away from eyebrow. Temperature distribution can be different according to the measurement position on the forehead.- Measurement can be inaccurate in the case of battery replacement. Use the thermometer, after replacing batteries.- Measure body temperature more than 30 minutes later, when an infant or a child enters indoor from outside, or when the thermometer is relocated to another place with the different environment.- Maintain the sensor part in a clean and undamaged state for accurate measurement, because the part is very sensitive.- Make sure for an infant or a child not to suck the temperature sensing part or battery part, or touch such a part with hand.

Repeatedly use the thermometer at least 3 times in the following situations:- For an infant within 90 days of birth - In case the measured body temperature is displayed beyond mean body temperature range, when it comes to a toddler younger than 3 years old. - In case this product is used for the first time or the user has no experience of using similar products.

Cleaning and Storage

- Because the sensor part is very sensitive, always maintain the part clean and not to be damaged for accurate body temperature measurement.

- Do not soak the thermometer in a container with liquid.

- Carefully clean the sensor with a methyl alcohol-soaked cotton swab. Use the thermometer an hour after sensor cleaning.

- Avoid direct sunlight and store the product in a place without dust or pollutants.

- It is good to store the product at room temperature (16℃~25℃), and 16℃ to 40℃ is appropriate in terms of external temperature.

- If the product was stored at the temperature other than the room temperature (16℃~25℃), use it after keeping it at room temperature (16℃~25℃) for 30 min.

- Remove the batteries, if the thermometer is not used for a long time.

- Separately collect the used batteries from general trash, after replacing the batteries.

If some foreign substances are within the temperature sensing part or on surface of the sensor, inaccurate measurement can be caused. Use the thermometer, after cleaning the temperature sensing part and the sensor.
