Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) Infrared Thermometer Purpose: A handheld infrared thermometer designed to measure the surface temperature of an object in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C) Applicaon: To compare room temperature with thermostat readings; to find heat leaks in buildings through walls or windows How-to: Do not point the thermometer at anyone’s face. 1. Point thermometer at the ground. 2. To turn on the thermometer, press and hold the trigger. 3. Press the °C/°F buon unl “°F” appears in the display screen. 4. Point the thermometer at the object to be measured. 5. A red light will appear on the object you are measuring. 6. Record the temperature shown on the display screen. 7. Release the trigger. The meter will automacally shut off. Helpful Hints: If the red light does not appear, press the buon to turn it on. Tips to measure room temperature: Measure surface temperature of an interior wall. For each measurement locaon, hold unit at waist height and stand approximately 5 feet from the wall. Point the thermometer directly at the wall surface free of any coverings.

Infrared ThermometerPurpose: A handheld infrared thermometer designed to measure the surface temperature of an object in Fahrenheit (°F) or Celsius (°C)

Application: To compare room temperature with thermostat readings; to find heat leaks in buildings through walls or windows
