1. In the menu, select File > Open. A dialog opens. The shortcut for this is to click the Openbutton in the toolbar. Browse for the audio file or video with audio you want to convert and clickOpen. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop a file to Multimedia Converter.

4. You can start the conversion from an offset point. Set the time stamp of the offset in the Starttime edit box. The shortcut for this is to keep the CTRL key pressed and slide the original filelocation indicator to the desired position. This updates the time stamp information in the Starttime edit box.

5. Click Convert. Another dialog pops up and shows the progress of the conversion. After theconversion is finished, you can hear the converted audio file. You can select the original orconverted audio for playback by selecting “Original” or “Converted” from the drop down menu

1. Download proxy from www.analogx.com and install it, just setup everything using default, andrun it thru start -->programs-->analogx-->proxy-->proxy

Determine which COM port your bluetooth is using by right-clicking on your bluetooth trayicon (where the time is displayed) and select Advance Configuration, then go to Local Servicestab, EVERYTHING in there EXCEPT Bluetooth Serial Port should be made manual. i.e, ONLYBluetooth Serial Port is automatic startup, and make sure that Secure Connection is notrequired. Do take note of the COM port in use, for me, mine is COM9.

3. Next, goto Control Panel -->Phone and Modem Options -->Modem(tabs) and do a ADD,remember to check Don't detect my modem;I will select it from List. and click next. Out pops awindow, under manufacturers, select [Standard Modem Types], under Models select[Communications cable between two computers], click NEXT, selected ports should now pointto the COM port you have found in step 2. For mi, i choose COM9. Then next next next till youare done. You will see an entry in the Modem(tab). Double-click on the Communication cablebetween two computers, and set maximum port speed to 115200.

4. Now right-click on your network neighbourhood, Make New Connection. Choose AcceptIncoming Connections, Check the Communication cable between two computers(COM9-->againmy own port no), click next, select Do not allow virtual private network connections and underusers allowed to connect, to make things simple, juz check everything.. heehee.. next again,double-click on Internet Protocol, make sure the Allow callers to access my local area network isCHECKED, Specify TCP/IP Addresses from 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.0.254. Click OK, then click next,then click Finish.

6600 side of things

1. install the gnubox into your 6600 (fone memory or card is up to individual's preference)2. go to tools-->settings-->connection-->access points-->options-->new access point-->usedefault settings. Ensure that the connection name=Bt, data bearer=High speed (GSM), dial-upnumber=any 3 digit, user name = a valid username in your pc, in my case, demouser1, promptpassword=No, Password= (password for demouser1), Authentication=normal,Homepage=none, Data call type=Analogue, Maximum data speed=Automatic3. Then select options-->Advance settings. Phone IP Address=Automatic, Primary Nameserver=0.0.0.0, Second.name server=0.0.0.0, Proxy serv.address (your pc's ip address, whichcan be gotten by start-->run-->command prompt-->ipconfig), proxy port number=6588 (the portused by analogx proxy server),Use callback=No, callback type=use server no., callbacknumber=none,user PPP compression=YES,use login script=YES, Login Script=(Pls followinstruction inCODEhttp://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/mraento/symbian/bt-ap.htmlEXACTLY),Modem initialisation=None. Then back back back till you get back to your mainmenu.

4. You need to pair up your 6600 with your bluetooth dongle, and set it as authorized. After that,launch gnubox-->options-->2box Direct-->Infrared (Stay with me here.. important step). thenoptions-->2box Direct-->Bluetooth-->select your pc. Then press on your menu button, and fireupyour browser, mayb say Doris browser.

5. in Doris Browser, go to options-->preference-->proxy IP Address =(your pc ip),proxy port=6588, the rest of the options set as default.

While some files are sent to your phone by a provider through MMS, others have been copied toyour computer and have to be sent to your phone for installation. There are a number of ways oftransferring files between your computer and your phone. The 6600 has Bluetooth and Infrared(I/R) connections available to it. The best way of copying files is by using these connections. Ifyour computer doesn't have bluetooth or I/R capabilities, there are many bits of hardware on themarket that plug into a USB drive and enable Bluetooth or Infrared connections (check links forexample products).

Bluetooth is usually a preffered method as it is alot faster than an I/R connection and doesn'tneed a clear sight to maintain a connection as I/R does and has a larger range (usually around10m).

-If you are using a plug-in device, install it using the software and instructions provided. Alsoturn on either the Bluetooth or I/R connection on your phone, whichever you are using. GotoMENU--CONNECTIONS for this and select either Bluetooth or Infrared

-If you are using Bluetooth, it is a good idea to change the name of your phone so that it can beeasily recognised. Goto MENU--CONNECTIONS--BLUETOOTH and go down to "My Phone'sName" and change it to something you would recognise.

-Once all the connection devices are ready, use your PC to search for the phone. If you areusing infra-red, make sure the phone's infrared port and the I/R port on your PC are pointingtowards each other and that nothing is between them.

-Once a connection has been established, send the install file thats is on your PC to yourphone. This will be received as a message on your phone once it has been sent.

-Open this message, and if te file is a working install file, the install process will startautomatically.

NOTE: I recommend that you change your message setting to use the MMC memory asopposed to you phone memory some files are quite large and can eat up all your phonesmemory

Another way to copy files to your phone is by using a card reader to copy the file to your MMC(The removeable memory card). A Memeory card reader can easily be bought in most computerstores and once installed, the MMC from your phone can be place in its contents can benavigated from MY COMPUTER. I have never used this method myself.

NOTE: Only .SIS and .JAR files can be used on the 6600. Old .jad files used for othe phonemodels DO NOT WORK on the 6600. Some .JAR files have also been known to causeproblems for the 6600.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Installing Files

The Install Process is very basic once it is initiated. Files that are to be installed are usuallylocated in your messages. Make sure your phone isn't about to run out of battery as well!-Goto the file you want to install (usually located in your messages) and open it to start theinstallation procedure.

-The install procedure should start up automatically and ask you if you would like to install theprogram contained in the file.

-Choose yes and the process will continue. It will then ask you where to copy the file to, phonememory or Memory Card. I recommend using the memory card as programs can usually take upalot of space and the phone memory is not very large. Chose the prefered option and theprocess will continue.

-Some times the process will stop and tell you that a certificate has not been recognised and doyou want to continue. It is usally safe to continue with installation if you are confidant that thesource you got the file from is trustworthy. If however you have obtained the files from an

unknow source (Kaza for instance) there might be a small (Very Small) risk that the file is nottrustworthy. I have never had any problems with any of the hundreds of files i have used

-Once the installation process is finished, you can start using the program. Most programs turnup as an icon at the bottom of you MENU screen. (You can now delete the origional install file tosave space).

NOTE: All the files i hvae put up on this site have been tested by me and, as far as i know, areworking 100% . However the user downloads and installs these files at their own risk. I am notresponsible for anything that goes wrong with connection to these files------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Uninstalling Files

I got an e-mail the other day from a Wessel Rauch concerning uninstalling programs on the6600 and it made me realise that i (stupidly) hadn't added it to the Install Files Tutorial I did awhile back. So here is a quick explanantion of how you can delete those pesky programs:Go into the Menu on your phone (press the blue 'menu' key on the left hand side of the phone)Cycle through the menu till you come to an option that says "Manager" and open it (either bypressing the joystick in or using Options - Open)The Manger (or the App. Manger) is a list of all programs that are installed on the phone be it onthe MMC card or the phones memoryThe Manager sometimes takes a few seconds to load all the information. You'll hear a beepupon opening the Manager and then a beep once the list is loaded (or you can just wait till itallows you to scroll down)Once the list is loaded, cycle through it till you come to the name of the program you want touninstallOnce the target program is highlighted, press the "clear" button (The button with the 'c' on itwhich is on the right hand side of the phoneA warning will come up asking you if you really want to remove the application Yes or NoClick 'Yes' to completeley remove the program from your phone or click 'No' to keep it or if youhave made a mistake.

There are a couple of notes i would also like to add about unistalling programs:Once a program is removed it can only be re-installed if you have the orgional install file youused to install it in the first placeSometimes the name of the program you want to uninstall isn't given a recognisable name in theApp. Manger List. If this is the case you should use your own common sense to try and decidewhich one is reffering to the program you want to remove. If you are unsure you risk deleting aprogram you didn't want to loseOn rare occasions, the program won;t be listed in the App. Manager List at all. If this is the caseyou will have to use a file manger like F-Explorer or File Man to find and delete the files youwant removedSorry if some parts of te tutorial seemed a bit over-simplistic but some readers really arebeginners at this

Note 1: It is a good idea to let set your MMS and SMS messages to be kept on your MMC, noton your phone memory. Any MMS or SMS's currently on your phone's memory, it is suggestedyou move them over to the MMC.

Note 2: You must have some sort of file managing software to do this. Download and installsuch an application before beginning this guide! I recommend FExplorer or SeleQ.

-- STEP ONE -- THE INSTALLER --First Get the BLZ installer and your desired game.

Send the BLZ-Installer to your phone, it should be a *.SIS file, if it is not, then it is probably a*.ZIP or *.RAR, unpack the *.SIS file from the archive, then send it. DO NOT send the *.ZIP or*.RAR files to your phone.

Install the application.

-- STEP TWO -- THE GAME FILE --Next, you need to get the game ready. Game files are in the *.BLZ format. Like the BLZ-Installer, if the game file is not a *.BLZ file, unpack the archives until you find the *.BLZ file.

You may need to do this a few times, because usually games are packed more than once.

Once you have the *.BLZ game file unpacked, send this to your phone.

-- STEP THREE -- INSTALLATION --Open your installed file manager and find the *.BLZ game file in one of the mail folders(Example -- e:\system\mail\XXXX) and copy the file to the root directory of the MMC (Example --e:\). Now Close the file manager.

Run the BLZ-Installer. Now you should see the game listed there. Select Option and then Install.Wait for the process to finish. The game should then be installed.

If you followed the procedure correctly and everything went well, you should see a new Icon,that is the game.

Deleting leftover Game/App Icons

When a .jar installs it will drop files into to different parts of the system directory on the mmc The.jar file along with a couple of files will sit in the e/system/midlets folder.

In the e/system/apps folder you will find corresponding files for each of the games normallynamed something like this [101b7b5a] inside these folders you will find a couple of files onebeing a .txt file you can open these and it will tell you what game they are associated with.

Makes sure that these folders are also deleted if they are still there after the uninstallation andthen reboot. you should then hopefully have gotten rid of the icons that have nbeen left behind.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keylocked BacklightPress the power button to switch on the backlight when keylock is applied so you can see thekeys to unlock the keypad.

Handy FlashlightIf you ever need a flashlight in a pinch, simply remove the phone's swappable faceplate (it's heldon by the tab at the top of the phone and some pressure on the sides) and the blue LEDs thatlight up the keypad will light your way.

Simple Task ManagerPress and hold the menu key (the one with the squiggly connecting things on). A list of runningprograms appears on the left side on the screen. You can close running programs byhighlighting them and pressing c.

Booting Phone with no 'Auto Start' Apps RunningTo make sure that no memory-resident programs start when you reboot your phone, hold downthe pencil key when you turn the phone on. I don't have anything running on my phone that thisaffects, but the idea is that you can stop some of those apps – say Handy Day or something likeit – that starts up automatically when you restart the phone.

Repeating EventsThe Calendar GUI does not support repeating events based on the day of the week (i.e. thirdSunday). A workaround is to enter the event on a Palm device and beam the event to the 3650.

Deleting all events from the calendarTo delete all events from the calendar (or those before a certain date), change to the Monthview, then from the Options menu choose Delete Entry. The drop down menu lets you choosefrom “all entries” or “before date”.

Easier Handy Flashlight

Download the Torch application and run it. All it does is turn on the backlightFlashlight

Change the wallpaperYou can change this by going to the following Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Standby Mode,then selecting Yes and choosing the image you would like to use as your background.

Turn off camera soundTurn off the “click” sound made by the camera by selecting the 'Silent' profile or by turningwarning tones off:Menu > Profiles > “select your activated profile” > Personalise > Warning tones > Off.(This also effects the sound of Java games and apps).------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to connect your N-Gage to your PC

Step 1.Before you do anything. Place your MMC into your phone and format it.

Step 2.Place the N-Gage disc (that comes with the phone) into your cd rom.

If youve got XP: Connect your N-Gage to your pc with the USB cable. Leave windows to find allthe necessary drivers automatically. Your MMC in your N-Gage will now be recognised as aremoveable drive in 'My Computer'.

If you havent got XP: Do the same as above. If nothing happens, run the program on the N-Gage disc and install any drivers you find.

If any of the above does not work click Here

Step 3.Once the MMC is recognised by your PC, simply drag and drop any files you want onto theMMC (removeable drive).

Step 4.Download FExplorer from HERE and place the file on your MMC.Once on the MMC go to your menu then Tools --> Manager --> FExplorer --> Options --> Install

Follow all the on screen intructions. This has installed a file browser for you N-Gage. You cannow access all the files on your N-Gage and MMC which 'Manager' can't see (like Java games).------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Some usefull n-gage tips:

1. You cant use the USB cable unless a MMC is inserted into the N-Gage.

2. You can only use Multimedia Cards in the N-Gage. SD cards DO NOT work.

3. If you brought your N-Gage in the UK there is no need to purchase a MMC, as one isprovided with the phone (Nokia Game Card is also a MMC).

4. You can find free games and applications at www.my-symbian.com

5. All the apps and games available for the 3650/7650 will work on your N-Gage (except thoseassociated with a camera).

7. The N-Gage doesnt have a camera and most likely never will. If it did it would connect via theUSB port or bluetooth.

8. The N-Gage does have removeable fascias, but doesnt appear to be promoted by Nokia.Third party fascias only.

9. PC Suite is only used to backup/restore your calendar and contacts files. It is thereforeunecessary to purchase a blutetooth adapter and install PC Suite unless intended for thatpurpose.

10. You must fully charge your phone before using it to allow maximum capacity.

1. Setting up an e-mail account on the phone.This can be done by filling in all the relavent settings. You need both an access point (a generalGPRS data access point, not a WAP GPRS access point) and an e-mail account defined.

Nokia users however, may find it easier to use the Nokia auto configurator. This is available[here.]

Many Nokia country-specific sites also have this service. Check your coutries Nokia website forthis.

2. Error Message: General System Error.This is sometimes seen when connecting to an e-mail box. With some providers the gateway IPaddress used for Email collection needs to be 0.0.0.0. You can change this setting in yourAccess Point Settings (available under Tools --> Connections).

Alternatively some internet service providers do not allow you to collect POP3 mail when youare connecting to their mail server via a different ISP. You are connecting via a different ISP ifyou are using your phone. Your ISP in this case is your operator.

3. Able to receive but not send email.You are probably trying to use you PC's ISP email server (smtp.myisp.co.uk). Many ISPs blockthere smtp server for people not connecting to the internet via themselves. This prevents theservers being used for spam. This is annoying for mobile phone users as it means they can notuse their ISP's servers from their phones.

However most operators provide a smtp server that you can use. You should contact youroperator for details.

1. Can I use SD cards with my 3650?No you can not use SD (Secure Digital) cards with your 3650. Only MMC cards will work. This isdespite the fact most devices / gadgets using SD support MMC. The reverse is not true. Thereis a slight difference in size. MMC cards are thinner.

2. What size of MMC cards are supported?You will have no problems with the following sizes: 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 MB. There may besome problems with 256 MB cards (which in any case are not widely available). This may befixed by a future firmware update. However for the time being I advise you not to buy a 256 MBcard specifically for your 3650. If you already have one and it works let us know about it.

3. What can I store on my MMC?You can store anything on your MMC card. Programs will run from your MMC card (you canchoose to install programs to the memory card at install time). There may be some performancedegradation from running programs and/or files from the MMC (when either accessing andespecially when writing files to the MMC). However this is rarely noticeable and given the limitedmain memory it is advisable to use MMC memory for everything possible.

Note that you can change your photos, videos, messages and contacts to be stored on theMMC. [Howto] to free more RAM on your S60 phone

As you might know, the Nokia 3650 doesn't have as much RAM as for instance theNokia 6600 and N-Gage but there are two ways to get more free (usable) RAM:

>>> Method 1: Flight mode:

Put your 3650 in "Flight mode" with Psiloc System Tools. Install System Tools, open it andselect "Flight mode". This way you can restartthe phone without your SIM card so there will be no running phone tasks in the background.Now you can have up to 3,5 MB of free RAM!

Note: ironically enough, Flight mode doesn't work when Smart Launcher is installed, at least inmy case. :-(

But i've also heard several reports of people who have both apps running without any problems.;-)

>>> Method 2: Smart Launcher trick:

Install Smart Launcher and open it. Go to Options, Settings and put Launcher ON.Now plug in your charger and switch off your 3650. Wait untill the battery meter appears andshort press the Menu button (don't hold).The menu should appear and now you can have 3,5 to 4,5 MB free RAM! (Hold Menu button tocheck RAM).

The trick is that with the charger plugged in, the phone must get a minimum software support forcharging, even whenthe phone is switched off. And somehow Smart Launcher has still got it's shortcut running andthat's the Menu button. So whenyou press the Menu button, you go directly to the Menu without any other phone tasks runningin the background soyou trick the phone and you have more free RAM!

Note: when you unplug the charger, the phone will switch off.

Using one of the above methods will let you run big games (e.g. Doom) and apps without gettingthose annoying "memory low" messages. :-)

But both ways obviously do have two major disadvantages: you can't make phone calls or useBluetooth while using these methods.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Explained] Drives on symbian phones

Disk C: - storage ("disk") memory. 4 MB (about 3,6 MB free for the user). This disk is used forstoring user data, files and applications. Disk C: is a Flash disk, which means that it preservesits contents even when the power is off or the battery is removed. This memory cannot beexpanded. If you need more storage memory, you can use one of the compression tools likeSmart Compress or Space Doubler.

Disk D: (in Nokia 3650 - Disk E - RAM-disk (400 kilobytes). This disk is meant for internalsystem use. Some applications temporarily store their data on this disk, which makes them workfaster (RAM memory is much faster than Flash). It is useless to save any user data on D:because all contents of this disk are lost when you switch the phone off or reboot the system.

Disk Z: - read only Flash memory (16 Megabytes). Contains firmware (operating system).Contents of Z: drive cannot be modified by the user. Firmware upgrade can only be made by

authorized service centres using special Flash programming devices and Nokia service softwarecalled Phoenix.

Operating memory (RAM) - this memory is for executing installed applications. The size is 4 MB(of which ~3 MB are available). You cannot install anything to this memory and you cannotexpand it.

(Nokia 3650 only) Memory card (disk D - 16 MB MMC (Multimedia card). Flash memory for userdata and applications. You can use this memory to install more programs, store large files(movies, audio, pictures etc). Can be replaced with any other MMC card - up to 1GB.

If you still have problems with understanding the memory structure of Nokia 3650/7650 phones,think of disk C: as of internal hard disk of your PC, MMC in 3650 as of second hard disk andoperating memory as of RAM of your desktop.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Operator Logos Explained

The operator logo is the picture on top of your phone screen, in most cases is the name of youroperator.

How to change it for a nice picture? You can do this by diferent ways:

First create this folder if you dont have it:

C:\System\Apps\Phone\Oplogo\

The operator logo will be stored on it...)

You can use FExplorer (any jpeg/bmp, no resize), seleQ (any image, it will resize it) --> selectthe image you want be operator logo, select options-file-set as operator logo.

You can make your own logo:

The operator logos have the following format:

COUNTRYCODE_NETWORKCODE_SUBNETCODE.BMP

For example, for Spain:

Amena: 214 03 -> 214_3_0.BMPMovistar: 214 07 -> 214_7_0.BMPVodafone: 214 01 -> 214_1_0.BMP

In the PHILIPPINES:Smart: 515 01Globe: 515 02

The size for bmp is 97 x 25 pixels.

Also, you can store diferent logos for diferent operators. For example if you change your SIM toother operator, you will see the other logo, or if you travel to other countries, you can storediferent logos for the operators in this countries.

You have a list of country codes and network codes here , just ignore the first "0" in networkcode if any.

If you want to delete the logo to restore the original (name of the operator) just delete the bmpfile from c:\system\apps\phone\oplogo.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How to copy & paste text:Press and hold the pencil key and select your text using the scroll key.Left function key will change to 'Copy'. Press it to copy the selected text to clipboard.You can paste the clipboard contents the same way:press and hold the pencil key and press 'Paste'. Or, press pencil key once and select 'Paste'.

· Press and hold the Menu key to open the application switching window, where you can *duh*switch between applications.If a program hangs and you can't shut it down, select the application in theapplication switching window and press 'C' to kill it. It's also a faster way to exit programs.

· Turn on/off the "click" sound made by the camera by selecting the 'Silent' profile or by turningwarning tones on/off:Menu > Profiles > "select your activated profile" > Personalise > Warning tones > On/Off.(This also effects the sound of Java games and apps).------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The ultimate guide to get a ******* .app file on your nokia 6600/7650/3650/3660

1. Install a filemanager like FExplorer or SeleQ

2. Connect your phone to a pc via BT or infrared.

3. Install the application .sis file

4. Once installed, send the .app to the phone, should be in message inbox.

5. Now open the filemanager on the phone.

6. Go to the directory of you inbox, should be either "c:\system\mail\" or "e:\system\mail\", the.app should be in one of the folders.

7. Once you found it, copy the file.

8. Now goto to the folder of the application you installed, which should be something like"e:\system\apps\nameofapplication" (assuming you installed to youe MMC) and paste the .appfile.

9. If it asked to overwrite, just click Yes.

Correct Treatment of your MMC:

Physically, memory cards are quite fragile pieces of high technology, susceptible to damagefrom various silly things like excessive heat, condensation, strong magnetic fields, physicaldamage from rough handling and/or bending! (similar to most electronic devices then..)

Given the natue of mobile memory card products, they are constantly being taken in and out ofsome form of interface with a mobile phone, a camera, a laptop, or desktop PC, or a separatememory card reader. The number of different devices they have to be able to interact with is inthe thousands.

It is not too surprisingly, then that sometimes the state of the file system on the memory cardcan get damaged.

This may happen for a number of different reasons, including:

> removing the card from a device whilst an application is trying to read/write to it.. (Just bepatient...)> battery drain on a device whilst in use meaning an insufficent voltage failure whilst writing tothe card.> a poor implementation of the MMC standard on the device using the card> poor connectivity software drivers on the device or the Windows PC/Mac> physical damage like card or device being dropped, bent, getting wet etc...> lots of others i am sure..

As often as not, the problem is not terminal for your memory card, but just a software issue ( orin physical terms, it could be called "a temporary disalignment of the all the bits and bytes on thecard").

The fix for this problem is the same as for any other file storage device (like a floppy or harddrive) with corrupt or invalid file system, namely; re-format the file system.

Re-Formatting your MobyMemory MMC Card:

It is possible that your mobile will offer you the option of formatting the memory card if it is foundto be invalid. (However, the likes of Nokia nGage, Nokia 6600, and Siemens Sx1 often justprefer to reject the media as corrupted).

In that case, to format the card, you will need access to one or more of the following:

> A Windows PC or Mac.> A separate multi-format memory card reader (verify that it is compatible with theMultiMediaCard -MMC- standard).> (This can come in USB or PCMCIA flavours. If USB, try and ensutre it is a USB2 device.> Alternatively, many of the newest laptop and desktop PCs now come with integrated Multi-format memory card readers.> If you are using a separate memory card reader, then connect it up to your PC, and letwindows recgnize the device through plug-and-play.

Now you can insert your MobyMemory card into the appropriate slot in the memory card reader.(Please note that because the MMC card is pretty much symmetrical it is very easy to insert itupside-down in the slot).

Open up [Windows Explorer] (or the equivalent for MAC users..sorry not well-versed in OS X).

There should be at least one icon visible for a [Removable Drive] in the list of available drives.(in fact, there is often a list of about 5 or 6 Removable drives, one for each of the differentMemory card formats that your reader is compatible with).

Find the drive that is mapped to the MMC card by clicking on each in turn until it confirms thereis a drive present. (Sometimes it is easiest to do this by trying a fully-functional MMC card in theMMC slot first so you can confirm which drive letter it is.)

(NB. It will always be labelled as a [Removable Drive], don't mistake it for one of your PC harddrives like [C:] drive, as that could be catastrophic later on!)

At this stage it may give an error message saying that the drive is unreadable.

By right-clicking on the drive letter, it will provide the option of formatting the drive.

Select format the drive, and the [Format Drive] dialog will appear (Double-check again to makesure it not your [C:] drive!).

There is only one setting to focus on in this page, and that is to ensure that the FileSystemselected for formatting is the [FAT] option (not FAT32, or NTFS or any other option)

(Note: All mobile phones, to my knowledge, and most cameras (etc..) use the FAT file system(or at least are compatible with it) on their memory card media.)

Now click on Format Now ( ensure [Quick Format] is not selected as this will not actually restorethe file system space byte by byte, but only resets the header information so the drive thinks itsempty again. This may not be enought to solve your corruption problem.)

The PC will now - hopefully!- chug away happily until it has restored the memory card spaceback to its original configuration (of course, any information on there is long gone by now!).

If you recieve an error message back from the [Format Now] request, then your problem may bemore permanent, and not just a software issue. In this case, it may still respond to a formatrequest in a different memory card reader or device.

If you believe it to be a failure of manufacture, then the warranty on the card offers the prospectof a replacement card, subject to a confirmation of the fault upon return of the goods.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* 'send command' fails new firmwarewith some new firmware, some users have reported that the 'send command' (thru bluetooth, IR,...) fails; it's due to a 'copyrigth protection' introduced in the new OS (!!!!), this happens only withsome kind of files (eg: .SIS), in such case, simply rename the file (eg: wtih .SIS_ ) before tryingto send them.

Can't Uninstall Applications via Manager?

When you cant uninstall an application(most of the time Java games) using the Managerfunction of the phone, then do this;

1. Install FExplorer.

2. Launch it and goto the path/folder of the Application. I'm assuming you have install it to theMMC so the path would be something like,

E:\system\apps

and you will see lots of folders in there that is only labelled by numbers(for Java games/apps) orthe name of the application. Go though them one by one. Open the text file in that folder toexactly know the name of the application in that particular folder if you dont see any icons orfamiliar name.

3. Then if its the correct folder, "move-out" of the folder, click on Options>File>Delete.

4. Then goto the Manager to uninstall it if its still listed.

5. Reboot.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know IR is old skool but hey, it comes handy at times especially when BT acts-up on you

This procedure assumes that the infrared device is connected to a serial port on your computer.Use this procedure only if Windows did not automatically install an infrared device when youturned on your computer. Typically, Universal Serial Bus (USB), PCMCIA, and other Plug andPlay-compliant infrared devices are automatically detected and installed.

To add a new infrared device:01. Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click Add Hardware.02. The Add Hardware Wizard starts.03. Click Next.04. Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.05. In the Installed hardware list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.06. Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), and then click Next.07. In the Common hardware types box, click Infrared devices, and then click Next.

Do one of the following:

01. If you do not have an installation disk for the infrared device, click the manufacturer of thedevice in the Manufacturer list, click the infrared device that best matches your hardware in theInfrared Device list, and then click Next.

02. If you have a manufacturer's installation disk for a compatible driver, click Have Disk. Insertthe manufacturer's installation disk into the appropriate drive, and then click Next.

Follow the instructions that are displayed on the remaining pages of the Add Hardware Wizardto install the infrared device.

View the Properties of an Infrared DeviceTo use this procedure, there must be an infrared device installed on your computer. Note thatthe settings for the infrared device are configured automatically when you install the device, andtypically do not have to be changed. To view the properties of an infrared device:

01. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Wireless Link.

02. Click the Hardware tab, click the infrared device for which you want to view properties, andthen click Properties.

Configure a Serial Port for Infrared CommunicationYour computer must support an infrared mode for a serial port. Use this procedure to install anIrDA transceiver that is provided by the computer manufacturer. To configure a serial port forinfrared communication:

01. Start the BIOS configuration utility for your computer. Note that the method for starting theBIOS configuration utility varies from one computer to another. For many computers, you canstart the BIOS configuration utility by pressing a function key that is indicated during thecomputer startup process. Some computers require that you start by using special configurationdisks. For more information about how to enter BIOS Setup, see your computer manufacturer'sdocumentation.

02. In the peripheral or serial port configuration section, change the mode to IrDA or Infrared.

TroubleshootingInstalling an IrDA transceiver disables the serial port. Do not attach a serial IrDA transceiver to aserial port.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
