Nokia ANSI ISUP Interface Description and Statement of ComplianceDocument

Page 13: Nokia ANSI ISUP Interface

1 Introduction

This document specifies the interface of the American National StandardsInstitute ISDN User Part (ANSI ISUP) between Nokia's DX 200 MSC/MSSand Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) or Integrated ServicesDigital Network (ISDN), MSC/MSS and external Specialised ResourcePoint (SRP).

The document also introduces optional features that do not belong to thebasic software build. Some of the optional features are only applicable inNokia MSC/MSS network between two MSCs/MSSs.

The ISDN User Part (ISUP) is the Signalling System No.7 protocol whichprovides the signalling functions required to support basic bearer servicesand supplementary services for voice and non-voice applications in theISDN.

The ISDN User Part uses the services provided by the Message TransferPart (MTP) for the transfer of information between the ISDN User Parts.

This document covers the ANSI ISUP of the national Signalling System No7 with the application of the ANSI T1.113-2000 - Signalling System No. 7(SS7) - Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) User Part (Revision ofT1.113-1995; includes two Supplements: T1.113a-2000 & T1.113b-2001)in the USA.

Some items have been checked in the Bellcore's specifications BellcoreTR-NPL-000145, Issue 2, December 1993: Compatibility Information forInterconnection of a Wireless Services Provider and a Local ExchangeCarrier Network and Bellcore GR-317-CORE, Issue 1, February 1994:Switching System Generic Requirements for Call Control Using theIntegrated Services Digital Network User Part (ISDNUP)
