NOHA2012 Fall School in Humanitarian Action (HA)Humanitarian Action today has to take into account political,cultural, legal and health dimensions. For the fourth time theNOHA (Network on Humanitarian Action) Fall School will beconducted by university staff and field actors in order to provideprofessionals with a global approach and specific tools.
ObjectiveThe Fall School aims at training professionals dealing with projectsin HA in order to give them a critical overview of HA in a multi-disciplinary perspective and the relevant information for evalua-tion of projects. New challenges in HAwill also be examined.
Target audienceCivil servants, staff from local, international and civil society or-ganizations, and more generally those who are involved in HAand feel the need to upgrade their basic knowledge and skills.
Organizing CommitteeCatholic University of Louvain (UCL)This fourth NOHA Fall School is run by the European Networkon Humanitarian Action (NOHA) and the day-to-day manage-ment is supervised by Prof.Catherine Gourbin, national NOHAdirector, and Vincent Eiffling, coordinator at the Catholic Uni-versity of Louvain (UCL) in Belgium.
MarketingThe programme will be marketed among relevant stakeholdersvia the NOHA directors: ECHO, Ministries of Foreign Affairs,INGOs, international Federations of NGOs.

The NOHA is an international Association of Universitiesworking together to develop training and education oninternational humanitarian action, and to foster academicresearch in that field. NOHA full members are UniversitéPaul Césanne Aix-Marseille III, Universidad de Deusto,Ruhr-Universität Bochum, University College Dublin,Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, Université catholique deLouvain, Uppsala Universitet, Warsaw University andVilnius University. The European Master’s Degree inHumanitarianAction was created in 1993 as result of concertedefforts on the part of the Network on HumanitarianAssistance(NOHA) Universities, working in close collaboration withtwo Directorates-General of the European Commission : DGfor HumanitarianAid (ECHO) and DG for Education andCulture. The initiative was a response to a growing need forhigher educational qualifications specifically suited to ad-dressing complex humanitarian emergencies. In 2005, NOHAwas awarded by the European Commission ErasmusMundus Partnerships Programme in order to establish anddevelop a framework for cooperation and student and scholarmobility between the NOHA institutions and 8 partner uni-versities worldwide. More than a decade of experience hasproved the NOHA commitment and capacity to educate andtrain highly committed, interdisciplinary persons who canact at all levels of humanitarian relief operations and who canfunction in a variety of ways to enhance the delivery of hu-manitarian assistance and sustainable actions.
