FIVE NAMED ALL-ACC• A total of five Demon Deacons earned All-ACC honors as released by the league office on Monday. That’s the most for the Deacs since also totaling five honorees in 2003.• Will Craig (3B) and Nate Mondou (2B) were repeat selections on the first team.• Stuart Fairchild (OF) also received the honor for the second straight year, as he was selected to the second team.• Gavin Sheets (1B) and Parker Dunshee (SP) each earned the recognition for the first times of their careers, as they were selected to the third team. Dunshee was the first Deacon starting pitcher selected since Tim Cooney in 2011.

WALTER WINS 600• Wake Forest head coach Tom Walter picked up his 600th career win against Clemson on March 11.• For Walter, the 600th career victory comes in his 20th season as a head coach. He amassed 275 victories in eight years at George Washington, 153 in five years at New Orleans, and has accumulated more than 190 in his six-plus years at Wake Forest. • With the win on April 19, he surpassed John Caddell’s (1926-39) mark of 183 for third-most wins at the helm all-time. George Greer (1988-04) leads with 608, while Marvin Crater (1976-87) is second with 269.

HONORS COMING FOR CRAIG• After a sophomore season in which Will Craig was one of the final 30 players up for the Golden Spikes Award, he began the 2016 season on the 18-man watch list for the same award.• Selected by USA Baseball, the award recognizes the top amateur baseball player in the nation.• USA Baseball announced its midseason watch list on April 20, with Craig still on the 60-player list.• Craig was also named to the 24-man John Olerud Two-Way Player Award watch list in April, recognizing the top players who both hit and pitch. He made the cut down to 18 in May.

CRAIG BACK IN THE LINEUP• Junior infielder/right-handed pitcher Will Craig tweaked his oblique while recording a two-inning save against Clemson on on March 11.• Craig missed seven total games, returning for the three-game set against Duke. Wake Forest is 30-18 (13-13 ACC) with Craig in the lineup and 2-5 (0-4 ACC) without him.

TEAM LEADERS • Wake Forest will have three captains for the 2016 season: redshirt-senior Aaron Fossas and juniors Parker Dunshee and Nate Mondou.• Fossas earns the role for the second-straight season after serving as the lone team captain in 2015.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES• After a historic sophomore campaign, Will Craig entered his junior season as one of the most highly-

regarded players in the nation.• He was picked as a preseason first team All-American by D1Baseball, NCBWA, Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball. • Fellow junior Nate Mondou was picked as a second or third team preseason All-American by each of those outlets, as well.• Additionally, Craig was rated as the No. 91 overall 2016 MLB Draft prospect and No. 55 college prospect by Perfect Game and the No. 53 college prospect by D1Baseball. Parker Dunshee was rated the No. 115 college prospect by D1Baseball and No. 146 by Perfect Game, and PG also projected Nate Mondou as the No. 206 draft prospect.• For the class of 2017, D1Baseball said Stuart Fairchild is the No. 43 prospect, checking in at No. 62 in Perfect Game’s rankings. Freshman Johnny Aiello was tabbed as the No. 36 prospect in the top 50 rankings for the 2018 draft by Perfect Game, as well.

PARDON OUR MESS • Thanks in large part to a $3 million gift from David Couch, construction is underway on the first phase of a $14 million player development center. The stadium was dedicated as David F. Couch Ballpark in February in honor of the former Wake Forest baseball and football student-athlete.• Along the third-base line, the 41,000-square foot facility will include a team locker room, lounge, training room, equipment room, video conference room, team meeting room, a full kitchen, coaches offices, pro players locker space, a heritage area and indoor batting facility. Plans include renovation and relocation of the home dugout and bullpen and construction of a pitching laboratory, complete with 18 high-speed cameras to analyze the biomechanics of each player. Construction of the initial phase is expected to be complete in January 2017.• Fundraising efforts are still underway for future phases of construction and renovations, including the 100’x100’ indoor batting facility, which will be adjacent to the player development center and will be constructed without interior supporting posts. Above the facility, plans call for renovations to the concessions stands and restrooms as well as a concourse-level viewing area. • Previous renovations include: - 2015: Visiting clubhouse converted into state-of-the-art weight room facility. - 2013: Multi-colored chairback seats replaced with modern all-black seats. - 2012: 18’ x 24’ LED video board installed. - 2011: AstroTurf GameDay 3D52H Grass installed, as well as the manual scoreboard in left field. - 2010: Indoor hitting facility built beyond left field. - 2009: Wake Forest purchased and moved into stadium. It previously belonged to MiLB team Winston-Salem Dash since it was built in 1956.

Williamson and Cooney made their Major League debuts in 2015 after being third-round picks in 2012.• Walter donated his kidney to outfielder Kevin Jordan days before the 2011 season after Jordan was diagnosed with a serious kidney disease.• Wake Forest has posted four straight winning seasons (2012-15) for the first time since the Deacs had seven straight from 1997-2003.• He guided his 2006 team at New Orleans through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The team spent the fall in Las Cruces, New Mexico, then spent time in Mobile, Alabama, and Westwego, Louisiana, before returning to campus in March.• The Johnstown, Pennsylvania native earned his degree from Georgetown in 1991 and a master’s from George Washington in 1994.
