We welcome Peppi-Rose into the family of the Church, please pray for her and all of the family on this very special occasion. Baptism, Gateway to the Sacraments. Jesus said, “ I come to give you life.” Full life of real hope and love. When we bring our children through the door of the church for Baptism, we are opening them up to the most incredible life possible. They will come to know God’s unconditional love and start to hear his voice telling them that they are special and that he is pleased with them. How they need to hear that voice in the face of so much rejection and criticism, don’t they? They will join a family, a community of friendship and faith just waiting to strengthen and encourage them through life’s long journey. They will experience God’s healing and forgiveness for their many sins and failings. They will be open to God’s grace and his strength and presence through the many challenges that life is going to throw at them. The Holy Spirit will give them meaning and purpose to change the world around them. And finally at the end of their life as they walk through the door of death, it wont be the end, they will be able to walk into the joy and bliss of heaven, eternal life with God. Reaching out to the needy generously

There are many instances in the scripture where the Lord had to pay particular attention to the poor, the hungry and the homeless. It has become commonplace to place people migrating from one part of the world to another. The reason is not far fetched. Apparently, they are in search of better means of livelihood. The same can said of people leaving one faith to another or one denomination to another in search of meaning. It is true that we might not be able to help everybody yet everyone can contribute to help someone. Often times, it is easy to ignore the suffering unless we have experienced what suffering really is in the lives of people.

The beatitude tells us that: Happy are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy (Matthew 5:7). And again, that love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). Remember that evil thrive where good men and women refuse to do good. As philosophy would like to put it, evil is a negation of good. So, people are hungry. If we have to put it literally, there is a kind of hunger somewhere. Two types of hunger can possibly be identified physical and spiritual hunger. The danger there is that neither the physical nor spiritual hunger is easy to overcome.

While man has the capacity to satisfy physical hunger as we noticed in the little boy who was generous enough to share from his food, spiritual hunger on the other hand can only be satisfied by a sincere desire to be filled by God. This is where Jesus avails Himself to us to multiply our efforts each time we attempt to give it a go. Only God can fill the void in human life and that is only possible when we cooperate with Him. The Lord will satisfy with good things, those who yearn for Him.
