Sacramental MassFirstly, I woke up and put on my long, white communion dress. I felt excited. Then I came to school where I saw all my friends. As we started we sang ‘My heart, My Home’. Then we went up for the bread and wine which made me feel special. We sang ‘Hold My Hands’. The final song was ‘Dwell In Your House’. Then we came to the classroom and I shared the story of my sacramental journey with some other girls. I was a little nervous. Then Bella cut the delectable communion cake and everyone clapped. We had some savoury and sweet food. Then we changed into a more comfortable dress. My favourite part was when I shared my sacramental journey. It was a fun day. - Emily Bondza

The weather was warm with a hint of excitement; everyone was smiling with glee for it was the Yr.4 Sacramental Mass. As I entered the chapel sweet, peaceful music filled the air and you could hear the quiet murmurs of the students and guests. We began the Mass with a warm welcome and ended with a cheerful

song. When we got back to the classroom the scent of cupcakes, cakes, cookies and all sorts of delectable food was drifting through the air. After a few girls had spoken about their sacramental journeys, we started morning tea. It was a fun day because we celebrated our Sacramental Mass, and the best part about that was experiencing it with my family. - Alexandra Calica-Chavez

I woke up in the morning and I was so excited but it took me forever to get dressed. I had my hair in a bun. When I entered the chapel I sat down next to Hannah. We were the third reading and I thought I did an excellent job. When we got back to the classroom, I sat down and listened to some people share their sacramental journeys. Then we had a little mingle and some morning tea. It was a fantastic day. - Emma Casey

In our health program we have been looking at our emotions and what is the difference between positive and negative emotions. We then chose an emotion and wrote reflective poems:I feel Brave…I feel the dangerI rush outsideWind blows in my faceI do not go under my tableI stand out with my teamI don’t know what is thereI will be ready for itI save my friendsI am braveBy Jasmine

LOUD SHIRT DAY raised $200 for the Cora Barclay Centre, which helps Deaf and Hearing Impaired Children

It is hard to believe that we are almost half way through our final term for the year. Everyone is busy preparing for the end of the year and all of the special events and celebrations that come with it.

Friday is a very exciting day for us as we welcome our new Reception students to our community and students across the primary school have a chance to spend the morning with next year’s teacher. There will be Morning Tea for new parents, in the Art Room.

Student EngagementThe Great Travel Expo had its grand opening on Tuesday evening. The Year 4 class have worked very hard to present their inquiry study of an Africa or South American country. The learning and teaching in this unit is detailed and challenging. We congratulate the students for their impressive presentations. Many airline tickets were purchased and holidays planned.

    Next week’s assembly: Reception class.

Please return the Twilight Assembly notice by Thursday. Assembly is on Tuesday 22nd of November.

Year 6 Graduation is on Wednesday the 30th of November

Retreat helped me to learn things I did not know about people that I had no talked to in a long time. I learnt some things about myself too. It really opened my mind talking about our future and our past. I enjoyed praying and making prayers. Ariella Napoli

We all bonded throughout the activities set for us, especially during the House of Peace task, where we all wrote compliments towards one another. Isabelle PalmerThe ‘House of Dreams’ was a great opportunity to share positive aspirations about our peers and helped us to appreciate the relationships we have formed throughout the year. The letter to our Year 12 self was a great time to reflect on the year and look towards the future in hope. Nadine CallejaIn my experience, a highlight of Retreat was when people were complimenting each other using those coloured notes and putting them in each other’s boxes. Also I thought the games like BINGO were rather fun. Samantha ValerioRetreat was really good, I think it was a good day as I got to spend quality time with other Year 8 girls that I don’t speak to as often.

We also got a little box each to write nice little comments about our friends and the ones we don’t talk to as much. Eirini Kafantaris

Year 8 RetreatOn Tuesday 1st November, all the Year 8 classes went to Retreat at Mary Mackillop School. It was nice to reflect over the year and see how far we’ve come since starting school. My favourite part about the trip was writing the letters to our Year 12 selves. Talking about how I felt and all the significant things that happened this year felt nice, knowing that in Year 12 I will be reading it and probably cry or laugh. Kayleen Do

Australian Mathematics Competition Results 2016Earlier this year, on 28th July, 156 students from across the Primary, Middle and Senior school entered the Australian Maths Competition which has been operating in over 30 countries since 1978. It is a competition which caters to all abilities and to all age groups from Grade 3 upwards. Students answer 30 questions with an increasing level of difficulty. Each student receives a certificate commensurate with their performance, as well as a report giving details of how they went on each question, compared to statistics for the state.

We would like to congratulate all the students who participated and did their best. The results for our school this year were very pleasing with 3 High Distinctions, 31 Distinctions, 74 Credits, 36 Proficiency and 12 Participation Certificates being awarded to our students. The following students are congratulated for their outstanding achievement of a High Distinction:

We encourage all this year’s participants, as well as others new to the competition, to enter next year. It will be held on Thursday 27th July, 2017. Practice papers will be available from their Maths teachers.
