Robert and Darrin Start Working at Auntie Anne’sBoth Robert Tolle and Darrin Mcardle recently started working with our great Clubhouse partner, Auntie Anne’s at the North Star Mall and San Antonio International Airport locations, respectively.

SA Clubhouse Sock Hop Honoring Kevin C. MoriartyBy Sharon V.

The San Antonio Clubhouse hosted our 15th Anniversary Sock Hop, Honoring Kevin C. Moriarty, last Saturday, October 20 at the Norris Conference Center. Tony, who led efforts in making this event a success, tells of collaboration between the Clubhouse and Elliott Connection in the planning and execution of the fundraiser, which brought in just over $95,000.

Over 265 Clubhouse members and donors attended the Sock Hop and enjoyed a live band, featuring auctions, raffles, and dancing into the night.

We now are proud to have four members of the Clubhouse, including Moses and Kayla (who’s coming up on three years), at Auntie Anne’s in Supported Employment. Robert and Darrin join a great team at the company, and are lucky to receive training from our existing member employees.

The SA Clubhouse currently has over 160 members employed throughout the San Antonio area, ranging from Transitional Employment placements to independently managed careers outside the Clubhouse. Great work, guys!

2018 USA National Clubhouse ConferenceBy Sharon V.

Earlier this week, Mark, Linda, Eric and Shane went to the 2018 USA Clubhouse Conference in Bethesda, Maryland. San Antonio Clubhouse gave two presentations; one on data collection and the other focusing on reach out and community. Over 300 people from Clubhouses around the United States participated in the two day conference. Mark and Linda, who are also part of the International Faculty Team, attended the two day Faculty meetings.

Attending Clubhouse Conferences is a great way to learn what other Clubhouses are doing as well as exchange best practices that have led to Clubhouse successes. During the data collection presentation we were able to share a video of Rosie and her impact here at SA Clubhouse. The video was a great success and well received by all.

House Meeting NotesFor those of you that couldn’t make the house meeting, this week we discussed different ways to recognize Clubhouse anniversaries. During our talks some of the ideas you all brought up were T-shirts, pins, and buttons.

We’ve established that this topic needs further discussion and have decided to form a committee to develop this project. With your help we were able to begin planning some of the recognition such as years of attendance, teams people work with or groups that they participate in. Currently, we’re planning our next meeting on this topic. If you’d like to learn more about how you can help on our committee, please see Media Lab.

Lee also lead a topic in respect to cleanliness in the washrooms/bath-rooms. Please remember to pick up after yourself and do your part to keep these areas clean. Even if you didn’t make the mess, please help the Clubhouse clean by picking up trash from the floors, watching water spray, reporting messes that are bigger than normal and treating our community with respect. We all need to do our part in keeping Club-house clean for ourselves and our visitors.

REACH OUT (Last Week)This chart tracks the reach out phone calls made in the last several days. As we’ve seen a bit of a dip in daily attendance, and because of the continued rainy weather in San Antonio, it’s important to reach out and connect with our members who may not be able to make it into the Clubhouse.
