Our school’s Student Council was collecting items from all the students here at Lake Street to send in care packages to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and we got so much help!

These are the things each student from each grade level needed to bring in:

Kindergarten-tooth brushes, tooth paste, and dental floss.

1st grade-razors (please send in sealed

packages), shampoo, soap, deodorant, and chapstick.

2nd grade-canned fruit (small cans with pop tops please), Twizzlers, Pringles, and wet wipes.

3rd grade-Crystal Light, sugar-free energy and hydration drinks, beef jerky, and cheese crackers.

4th grade-long white socks, canned soups (with pop tops please), trail mix, and chew-ing gum.

5th grade-hand lotion, hand sanitizers, body wash, and popcorn (microwavable).

All students who donated items were en-tered in a drawing to win a Target gift card. Congratulations to the winner of that Target gift card, Samantha Lyden!

Thanks For All Your Support!

Cyber bulling is talk-ing in a mean way on the computer. It could be calling someone a name or trying to make people feel bad. Some peo-ple think it is funny to cyber bully. Also cyber bulling is not good or healthy for you. One day , I saw a movie about a girl

in high school whose mom got her a new computer. Then she joined a social group like Facebook and then she was talking to a person who seemed nice but, he really wasn’t. He started saying things to her that made her feel bad. If this ever happens to you, tell a

parent or a teacher right away. So never cyber bully! Cyber bull-ing is not being a good friend or bucket filler. So NEVER EVER CYBER BULLY!!!!!

All 5th and 3rd grad-ers took a test called the InView.

Those tests identify the strengths and weaknesses in a child, so the teachers can improve those certain

weaknesses. It only took about 2 hours altogether. So, if you thought those took a while, they were just separated apart, that’s the reason it seemed like a while.

Actually, they only took about 15 minutes for 1 test. So, hopefully, you got well-rested, ate a good breakfast, and you ROCKED THE TEST!

Lake Street Achievements By Michael Adams

Can you guess how we became a four star school?

Well here’s the story. First... We got good grades as a whole school. (See what

else we had to do) We got high ISTEP scores and good attendance of at least 79%. Our school’s Spellbowl and

Mathbowl won almost 20 times! (If you com-bine the wins) Hopefully, we get more records soon!!!!!

I’ve asked Madi Elish what her favorite part of her life was and she said ’’When I won a softball game in Indi-anapolis with Delaney Ad-ams, Maddy Adams, and

Alyssa McMahon. These girls all go to Lake Street. ’’At the beginning the whole team was excited! They did cheers and after that they were even more excited that they won! They all got tro-phies! Madi was 9 years old on this special day. Their

team colors are red and white. Their team name is Crown Point Bulldogs. The team they played was from Schererville and their colors were red and white. Madi had 3 coaches. She caught, pitched, and hit. One of her teammates hit a homerun. GOOD JOB TEAM!

What’s New in the Dolphin Splash?

There are a few new features in the Dol-phin Splash this year. Check out page 9 to see the latest new

edition….”What’s New?” Our staff re-porters ask teachers and staff what is new here at Lake Street.

See what they have to say! Also, see the new “Day in the Life of a Dolphin” on page 3!

Do you want to see a fun movie? Well if you do read this! Dolphin Tale is about a boy named Sawyer who was riding his bike along the beach and found a dolphin caught in a crab trap. The dolphin had no tail because of an injury. Sawyer calls the hospital and they take the dolphin there. Sawyer`s friend names the dol-phin Winter. Sawyer has been skip-ping all of his classes in summer

school to take care of Winter. But then his mom figures out that he is skipping all of his classes. Saw-yer`s mom sees that being with Winter has improved his mood. She knows that Sawyer has felt sad since his father disappeared five years ago. So, if you’re look-ing for a fun movie to see...try Dol-phin Tale and find out what hap-pens with Sawyer and Winter.

Spread ice cream on top. Freeze again for at least 10 minutes. Put on the toppings. Freeze one more time for at least 10 minutes. Now put on the cool whip. Last of all, sprinkle crushed Oreos on top. Doesn’t that sound yuumy?

Do you want to try a yummy dessert? If you do, try this! You will need 8 crushed Oreos, half a stick of melted butter, half a carton of ice cream [doesn’t matter what kind], your favorite toppings, cool whip, and a big bowl. Mix together Oreos and butter in the bowl. Freeze it for at least 10 minutes.

Book Bites By Hannah Narjes

I asked a couple Lake Street Dolphins “What’s your most favorite book? Can you tell me a little bit about it?” Marlee Christofanelli: 4th Grade/Mrs. Nance’s class “My favorite book is Alien As-teroids Assault Arizo-na...aliens come to Earth and try to steal all the water while three kids try to stop them. The kids go into outer space!” Santo Jann: 4th Grade/Mrs. Gaines’ class “ My favorite book is Daniel Boone….it’s about five kids that turn into super heroes. The main character’s power is that he talks really loud.” Thank you both for these great book suggestions! You can find these fantastic book choices at Lake Street’s Library!
