From the Deputy Head Teacher - Mr Ian
Learning can take many forms. This week has been a busy week at TX and we have seen learning happening in different locations and various ways. The children in Year 2 have been studying the circus in IPC and, on Wednesday, went to visit a real circus to see the performers in action – first hand learning. On their return, they rehearsed and practised for this morning’s wonderful assembly about the circus – applied learning. At the Finer Diner table, the Year 2 children could not stop talking about their experiences and how they had worked together and enjoyed producing such a great show for their mums and dads – engaged and reflective learning. At BIS, we run a number of community clubs that began in earnest this week and which you can read about later in this newsletter. It was great to welcome the children from Poussieres de Vie to Photography Club, Ky Quang Pagoda to Art Club,
Binh An school to Origami Club and the TX Centre to our Community Friends club. These clubs are not only beneficial for our community partners but also help our TX children in learning how to be global citizens. I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who came to support the EYFS Activity Day at the An Phu Primary Campus this week. The children were clearly having a lot of fun as well as engaging in a different type of learning. It is so important for our younger children to develop their ‘gross motor skills’ through running, crawling, jumping, throwing, kicking and balancing – all of which were seen in action on Thursday. Physical development is one of the three prime areas for children in EYFS, and as these motor skills develop, the foundations are laid for skills such as turning book pages and writing. Thank you also to the EYFS team for all their hard work in making this event so successful. Next week we have two special events coming up. The EYFS Tet Celebration will be taking place on Thursday at 8.30am in the Foyer and the Tet Assembly for children in Years 1 to 6, will be in the Sports Hall on Friday at 8.15am. All parents are most welcome to join us, and all children should wear their Ao Dai on the day of their celebration. Have a great weekend, Ian Battersby Deputy Headteacher

Yesterday EYFS had their activity day at AP1. The children had great fun trying all the different activities from balancing along wobbly beams to throwing balls at the ‘Rings of Fire’. However it was not just the children who enjoyed themselves as the parents proved very competitive in the egg and spoon race too! Ms Alice Roberts

Here at TX, the Community Friends Club has been running since the beginning of last term. On a
Thursday afternoon, children from the Tu Xuong Centre join us for a fun play session in the Soft Play
Room with some of the children from Year 2 and 3. Everyone involved loves playing with the equipment in
the Soft Play Room including balls, scarves and ribbons, balloons, tower building, parachute and even the
climbing wall! It’s amazing how everyone uses their imagination to play together as well as running around
and having fun! In our club, it is a fantastic chance for children to play with and support other children who
they may not come into contact with otherwise. Well done to all of the children who have taken part so far.
We are always looking for new members so if you want to have an afternoon of fun and play whilst
making new friends, come along and join us!
Community Friends Club
As our community partners Binh An, PdV, TX Center and Ky Quang
Pagoda visited for clubs this week, we handed over the rice and
noodles that was donated over the past weeks.
Chuc Mung Nam Moi to everybody for the upcoming Year of the
Goat.

Creative Hands Club
On Thursday, children from Ky Quang Pagoda came to BIS and met some
primary children for the first time. They introduced themselves one by one
and had a go at saying ‘Hello!’ and ‘Xin chao!’ to each other. The children
worked very well alongside each other. They had a brilliant time making their
collage as they chose different shapes, patterns and textures. Our TX
children were very kind and really persevered to help the children from Ky
Quang Pagoda with their artwork. By the end of the session, all the children
were able to come up with such beautiful photos. What an amazing time we
had and we all look forward to seeing the children from Ky Quang Pagoda
again next week!
