Newsletter Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome back, I hope you had a good half term break. It’s lovely now the daylight is lasting longer, hopefully a sign that spring is on its way!
Last term was a busy one, thank you to those who attended our Forest School Fire Evening, it was lovely to see so many children and families, it was our first Fire Evening with Pre-School and although it was cold it was a fantastic evening!
This half term we will be inviting you to Structured Conversations to talk about your child’s progress. Please attend the appointment or call to let us know if you can’t make it, it takes considerable organising to release teachers so missed appointments are very frustrating for us.
We have some exciting plans for our Aspirations Week in June and as part of that we would like you to get involved by sending in your family recipes to contribute to a Wood End Family Cookery Book! (Details on back page.)
Year 1 and 2 enjoyed a Kings and Queens Day, well done for all the wonderful costumes, children and staff had a great day to consolidate their topic.
I’m delighted that two parents have come forward to be Parent Governors and we welcome them on the Governing Board this half term for their first meeting; Jamie Maragh (Tristan) and Nina Iordachi (Tudor and David). I am also delighted that two parents have come forward to continue the PTA which raises vital funds for our school; Rebecca Lishman (Emily and Lucy) and Emma McErvel (Tyler and Sophia). The PTA would like to invite you to an informal meeting, if you would also like to get involved and find out more, this will be on Wednesday 4th March at 2.15pm. If you can’t make the meeting but would still like to be involved please speak to one of them or myself.
There has been a lot of illness recently and our whole school attendance is much lower than we would like. If you are struggling with attendance due to illness we have a school nurse clinic coming up and they can offer you advice around this. Please do not hesitate to approach me or your child’s teacher if we can support you in any way with improving your child’s attendance and punctuality.
Thank you — Mrs Wilson

Wood End Family Cookery Book We have come up with a fantastic fundraising initiative for the school and we hope you can help us to make it a success! We would be grateful if you could send in your favourite family recipe and we will select some to print in a cookery book.
Many different cultures are represented in our Wood End family, so we are hoping to include a variety of tasty recipes from all over the world. Please send in your recipes and if possible a nice photo of the finished meal. It would be great if the recipes are simple enough for children to help to make. We hope to put the book on sale in the summer term and raise money for the school. It should be a lovely souvenir of your child’s time at Wood End.

No Nuts!
It is REALLY IMPORTANT that you do not send your child to school
with food containing nuts.
One of our staff members has a very serious allergy. Even being in the same room as nuts or nut products could make her very ill.
Nut allergies are common and the school already has a ‘no nuts’ policy but it is vital that we all take extra care to stick to this!
Please be vigilant, nuts can be in lots of food, including snacks and cereal bars, gluten-free and vegan food, nut milks and nut butters (including the hazelnut chocolate spread Nutella!) Always check the label and err on the side of caution.
