4 th Grade News Week of April 1, 2019 READING *Target Vocabulary: territory, accompany, proposed, interpreter, duty, supplies, route, corps, clumsy, landmark *Vocabulary Strategy: Shades of Meaning *Comprehension Skill: Main Ideas and Details – understanding and identifying the most important ideas and information that supports them. Text structure and Onomatopoeia. *Comprehension Strategy: Visualize – create a mental picture from clues in the text. LANGUAGE ARTS *Spelling Pattern: Words with VCCV Pattern million, collect, lumber, pepper, plastic, borrow, support, thirty, perfect, attend, traffic, fortune, danger, soccer, engine, picture, survive, seldom, effort. *Grammar: Abbreviations. Peeters Thursday, April 4th: Camp Kesem $1.00 Jeans Day Friday, April 5th: Narnia Play 9:30 a.m. Stations of the Cross at 2:15 pm MATH This week, the students will be writing mixed numbers as decimals, show decimals on a number line, and shading mixed numbers on a decimal grid. Small assessment about these concepts on Friday. Simple Solutions Quiz # 25 this Friday. SCIENCE This week, the students will finalize their planet posters and present it in class. This week, we will also begin to learn about Light Energy. The students will complete a scavenger hunt where they will read interesting facts about this topic and will answer questions. SOCIAL STUDIES This week, we will research fact about Illinois by doing research. The students will also design a new state flag and seal for Illinois and explain the choices they made. RELIGION This week, fourth grade will be hosting Mass, please join us! The students will be taking a Quiz about the Lenten season topics covered the week prior to Spring Break, students were given a study guide Friday, March 22. Quiz will be tomorrow.

CIENCIAS SOCIALES Esta semana, investigaremos datos sobre Illinois haciendo investigación. Los estudiantes también diseñarán una nueva bandera y sello del estado para Illinois y explicarán las elecciones que hicieron.

RELIGION Esta semana, el cuarto grado será anfitrión de la misa, ¡únete a nosotros! Los estudiantes tomaran un examen sobre los temas de la temporada de Cuaresma que se cubrieron la semana anterior a las vacaciones de primavera; se les dio una guía de estudio el viernes 22 de marzo.

MATEMATICAS Esta semana, los estudiantes escribirán números mixtos como decimales, mostrarán decimales en una recta numérica y sombrearán números mixtos en una cuadrícula decimal. Pequeña valoración sobre estos conceptos el viernes. Examen de Soluciones Simples # 25 esta semana.

CIENCIAS Esta semana, los estudiantes finalizarán los carteles de su planeta y lo presentarán en clase. Esta semana, también comenzaremos a aprender acerca de la Energía de la Luz. Los estudiantes completarán una búsqueda del tesoro donde leerán datos interesantes sobre este tema y responderán preguntas.
