Hello and welcome to our MOPS community…
Whether you are near or far, if you are reading
this, we would like you to feel part of our
community - either physically or virtually.
Here are some stories about what we’ve been
up to, what we’re currently creating or what
we’re dreaming up for our future…

How wonderful it was to see so many families helping us celebrate Education/NAIDOC Week last
Thursday. The students participated in lots of different activities, such as reading books and drinking
lemon myrtle tea in our book cafe, painting portraits and having a yarn, creating some weaving art,
making beautiful musical sounds and playing Indigenous games, just to give a few examples. It was a
lovely morning, highlighting the collaborative, family-orientated school that we are! Thanks to
Miss Fitzpatrick, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Duncan for organising everything.
BOOK WEEK Our Book Week activity day will be held next Monday 19th August. Beginning with a book character parade at 9:15 am, the students will then work in small groups to complete a number of activities based around the shortlisted books for this year. Parents are most welcome to attend the parade. We can’t wait to see what costumes everyone comes up with!
SOUTHERN STARS Students are completing final rehearsals, with the performance now only days away. Students will
rehearse next Wednesday and Thursday, before the performances begin on Friday 23rd and Saturday
24th. Good luck to all our dancers - and to Ms Van Dragt and Mr Dixon too!
TOY SWAP
Thanks to everyone who donated a pre-loved toy and brought along a gold coin donation for our toy
swap. We hope that you all love the new toy you selected. All money that we raised will go towards
purchasing bins for our new recycling system. Thanks to Mrs Anderson for organising!
KINDERGARTEN 2020 We are now taking enrolments for next year’s Kindergarten classes. If you have a child starting school in
2020, now is the time to visit the office to fill in all the details! If you know of families who are
considering joining us at MOPS next year, we’d appreciate you letting them know that a walk through of
the school can be arranged with Miss Sinton. Official orientation sessions will occur in term 4. We will
also be doing a letterbox drop of the local area and would love some parent volunteers to help us
distribute our pamphlets. Please let your child’s teacher know if you can help out.
TECH WORKSHOP Our term 3 tech workshop will be held Monday 26th August at 4pm in the library. We will begin with a
Q&A session focusing on iPad settings, including parental controls. Then, we’ll get creative,
experimenting with some Augmented Reality. Feel free to bring your own Apple device, but we will also
have a bank of iPads available for use. Please come along and join the fun!
PJ DAY!
Thanks to everyone who wore their PJs last Friday and brought in their donation for Mopsy, our bunny.
All money raised is going towards some food and treats to keep Mopsy happy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOPS! Just a reminder that we will be holding our special “Back to MOPS” day on Thursday 26th September,
where our current students will be involved in activities that showcase our school’s history. The
celebrations will continue later that afternoon and evening, with a social get together between 5 and
8pm in our outdoor learning area. Food and drink will be available and our special “Mops Museum” of
school memorabilia will be open. All families past and present are welcome - so feel free to pass these
details on to anyone who may be interested. We will also be officially launching our downloadable book.
If you still wanted to contribute a memory to this, there is still time! The survey can be found at: https://forms.gle/SkXPzxEtYQ3VHVU38. Alternatively, see Mrs Hamers in the library for a paper copy of the
questions. Thank you to those people who have already responded.
P&C MEETING Thanks to the parents who came along to our meeting at the new time of 4pm. It was great to see some
new faces as we discussed various topics of school interest. There’s still room for many more ideas and
opinions though! Our next meeting has been planned for 3:15pm in the library on Tuesday 3rd
September.
LOST PROPERTY Don’t forget that from now on, any lost property will be checked each Friday. Labelled items will be
returned to students. Unlabelled clothing will be washed and given to the clothing pool, while
unlabelled lunch boxes and drink bottles will be disposed of. Please make sure that your child’s
belongings are clearly labelled, so that they can be returned quickly when they are forgotten! Thanks so
much for your support!
STAGE 2 EXCURSION The rescheduled date for the stage 2 excursion is next Tuesday 20th August. Let’s hope for fine weather this time!
As always, I look forward to building on our relationships, and continuing to grow our amazing school. Tiffany Sinton

This Spring we are proud to present to you, a program designed for the inner superhero in all kids. Built upon the foundations of child and family feedback, our program explores the true purpose of a superhero. We’ve created activities to help kids build their ideal superhero character in Masks & Magic, experience their first mission in Operation: Rescue, bowl away the baddies in Strike Force! and a lot more. Our mission is to give children an experience these holidays that will leave them feeling stronger, more confident and creatively inspired.
As we approach the Holiday Club season, We'd like to take this opportunity to encourage you to visit our website and find your school’s Holiday Club service. Here you’ll be able to see the updated program and pricing of each of your sessions. We will keep you updated as we build up to the first day and would appreciate knowing if there have been any changes to end of term dates and start dates for TERM 4.
We look forward to an exciting adventure this season.
