1 Principal’s Message I hope you have enjoyed the first three weeks of your 2017 Ponsonby Experience. It is important we establish school culture quickly; you are only here for two years. Events such as the Meet the Teacher Evening, EOTC and the Events Expo are designed to immerse students and whānau into the Ponsonby Experience. Last week I attended the Councillors’ Leadership Camp based at my family bach in Tinopai. One of the evening activities was to map out some of the major student events. This term we will be organising a school Market Day on Friday 24 March and a school-wide Talent Quest with the finals taking place on Thursday 6 April. Last week saw us host 40 Chinese students from our sister school in Ningbo; it was a fabulous cultural exchange. In late September we will return the visit to their school. More information about this year’s China Exchange trip will be available later in the term. Perhaps the best advice I can give our new Year 7 students is this – Listen to the daily notices, make notes about the events/activities on offer in your homework dairy and get involved in as many activities as you can. In this newsletter you will find information on the upcoming Student- Led Conferences and Swimming Sports. In a separate attachment we have included our Curriculum Map for the term – all the planned Learning Intentions school-wide. Finally, check out this photo of Lea Tisch who lives in Birkenhead on her way to school for the first day this year!
