1 Principal’s Message Welcome back to the start of Term 2, as I mentioned in the previous newsletter, this term will see the academic curriculum, arts and sports flourish. The EOTC programme is replaced with intensive literacy and numeracy lessons – we call this REEP – Recovery, Enrichment and Extension Programme. Each student is carefully placed based on their individual learning needs. In each issue of the newsletter this term I’ll showcase one particular curriculum area in detail – this week we look at Exploring Technology. In March the Education Review Office (ERO) conducted a review of the school. Please read the confirmed report, everyone involved in the ‘Ponsonby Experience’ should be incredibly proud. Over the Easter break we had the crew from Tiger Turf put down a lovely new sports surface on the inner school basketball court. No more scraped knees and with the bean bags and picnic tables a perfect place for lunch! Playing golf in the World Masters Games was a fantastic experience. I was 3rd on the first day, after the second round I was 3 rd equal, and after playing at Muriwai in the third round I dropped to 7th. Missed the cut for the finals by 1 (Only the top 6 qualified)... and dislocated my right shoulder at my son’s under 10's soccer practice the next day! School leadership is strongly ethical and professional. Leaders have a strategic focus onensuring all children have equitable opportunities to learn. School internal evaluation isrobustandusedwelltodriveschoolimprovement.

Children experience personalised learning pathways where teaching approaches respondvery well to their particular strengths and next learning steps. High levels of studentengagement in learning are evident and contribute to children achieving excellenteducationaloutcomes.

Agreednextstepsare:

· to continue monitoring the progress of all groups of students, including Pacificlearnersthroughrefinedtargetsetting

· to explore further how culturally responsive teaching practices can shape futurecurriculumdevelopments.
