HUON AND CHANNEL CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to all those that represented Kingston Primary at the Huon and Channel

Cross Country Carnival at Huonville on Friday last week. The weather was very kind and

the course was fast. All participants put much effort into their performance, competing

against students from six other schools in Division A. It is worth noting some individual

performances:

Safiya N (Grade 6) placed 6th; Luke G (Grade 3)

and Chase E(Grade 5) both placed 10th; Felix Y (Grade 5) placed 13th; Mia G (Grade 4)

placed 14th; Amelia R (Grade 3) placed 15th;

Stuart H (Grade 4) placed 17th; Cameron B (Grade 4) placed 18th and

Jasmine M placed 19th.

Our sincere thanks to Sharon Williams for acting as our school recorder and Victoria

McCormick for being out on the course as our school marshal. Students have been given

the invitation to participate in the State Cross Country on Tuesday 25 June.

SWIM AND WATER SAFETY PROGRAM

A reminder is being sent home to all families of students in Grades 3 - 6 today of the commencement of the Program next

Tuesday 11 June. Please ensure bathers, towels and swimming cap are packed each day.

Boat Safety 2

All Grade 3 - 6 classes participated in the Boat Safety 2 presentation given by Mr Ian Ross from MAST (Marine and Safety

Tasmania) during their Physical Education lessons during the week. Topics included: correct wearing of life jackets, servicing

jackets, checking weather conditions, planning and preparing for trips on the water, maintaining boats and knowing how to use

different safety equipment. Do you own a life jacket?

In 2018 MAST first advised the boating public that all life jackets must meet the AS4758.1 standard by December 2020.

The older AS1512, AS 1499 and AS2260 standard is now redundant. For further information visit the MAST website –

www.mast.tas.gov.au

Life Jacket Replacement Voucher Incentive

MAST has introduced this scheme to assist recreational boaters and licence holders to transition to the new life jackets by

providing $20.00 vouchers, redeemable when purchasing a new AS4758.1 life jacket.

MAST will be distributing vouchers at education nights and other venues such as boat ramps around the state. These dates will be

advertised in newspapers, the MAST Facebook page and website for details.

You will need to show your old AS styled jacket which will be marked with a voucher number. MAST do not keep the jacket.

Take your old jacket and the voucher to one of the Boat Safe or Paddle Safe partner retailers listed on the back of the

voucher. The number on the old jacket must correspond with the number on the voucher. You have until 31 December 2020 to

redeem this voucher.
