Principal’s Report 2020 Year 12 Graduation Celebration On Tuesday 9 February we welcomed our 2020 Year 12 students back to present them with their graduation certificates and VCAA VCE award. The graduation ceremony was live streamed using the same company that did such a great job with last year’s awards presentation. Year 12 Graduation/Reunion Afternoon Tea- 9th February 2021 During 2020 a number of events had to be postponed due to COVID-19. I am now are delighted to report that on the 9th February 2021 we were able to hold our annual reunion for our 2020 Year 12 students. The students were able to partake in a sumptuous afternoon tea that was provided by the school and there were many happy stories about what the students would be doing in 2021 shared. This reunion was coupled with a graduation ceremony where the students were able to receive a framed Year 12 Certificate from Highvale Secondary College and their Completion of Year 12 Certificate from VCAA. The event was live streamed for parents. This was a very successful event and was well attended by the 2020 Year 12 students and their teachers. I would like to thank Mr Watkins, MS CARR, Mr Hunter, MS Turner and Ms Woo for all their efforts in helping me to organise this event. Roslyn Patti Head of Senior School

2021 Year 12 Study Conference Camp

The 2021 Year 12 Study Conference Camp was held at Newman College, Melbourne University. This year the camp like the camps gone by was a great experience and a fantastic way to start the year. By staying on the campus of Melbourne University the students were able to experience independent university life.

The camp comprised of a series of sessions aimed to enlighten and inspire the students with English workshops presented by experts in their area, and a study skills group presentation by Elevate. Mr Korlos explained subject scaling and how the ATAR works.

The students learned from Ms Stranger and Ms Vujovic how to develop wellbeing/mindfulness /relaxation techniques so as to enable them to best deal with the important year ahead. The students also listened to a talk from Sonya Karras who regaled the students with stories about responsible drinking and partying. The main aims of the camp were achieved and that was to promote Year 12 as an exciting and stimulating year of study.

I would like to thank

Ms Woo, Mr Korlos, Mrs Caserta, Ms Verezub, Mr Hrisovergi ,Ms Dowsing,, Ms Clark, Mr Joblin ,Ms Vujovic Mr Shelly, Mr Sterling, Mr Mitchell , Mr Ahmet ,Ms Singh ,Ms Stranger for attending the camp and making it successful for the students Roslyn Patti

Parent Presentation – Darren Pereira: Parenting Strategies for Teenage

Success

On Thursday evening (18th Feb) Darren Pereira presented, via Zoom, to the families of the College providing a very

engaging, insightful and entertaining look at how parents can support their children as they move into their

teenage years.

Darren has presented in 5 different countries and delivered presentations to over half a million people. He is a

highly regarded speaker who has been working with the college for the last three years to deliver presentations to

the students in Yrs. 7,8,9 and 10 based around the College values.

The parent presentation touched on some of the college values elements, that your children will be seeing in the

next few weeks, as well as a range of supports and strategies to employ with your children to create a more

harmonious relationship.

Darren was also very giving of his time and after the presentation stayed online to answer specific questions that

some of our parents had for another 40 minutes.

The feedback was excellent and we thank Darren for his work.
