Student Led Conferences The feed back we have received from the parents, staff and students regarding the Student led confer- ences has been extremely positive. The students have reported that they feel they have a voice and they feel more involved in their learning. Parents have stated that they have felt that the conference gave them an opportunity to really talk about their childs learning in terms of goal setting and that they didnt feel rushed. And the teachers have comment- ed that they felt that they were able to facilitate con- versations between parents and students regarding the learning instead of just talking to parents. What a wonderful start to a great year of learning ahead. Cyber Safety Our students safety and well-being continue to be at the forefront of everything we do and online safety is no exception. Primary aged students are vulnerable to the more negative influences of the internet and we ask for parents support in continually checking to see what your children are accessing and doing on- line. It is important to put in place measures to re- strict access to undesirable sites and educating your children on how to keep safe, setting limits to screen time and ensuring that what they are doing is appro- priate for their age and stage of development. We need to work together to ensure our students are safe and remain safe. Smoking It has come to my attention that some parents are smoking on school premises and just outside the school gates. Our school is a smoke free zone and no smoking is allowed on the premises or in the im- mediate area/ boarders around the school. The de- partment policy stipulates Smoking on school prem- ises, including school buildings, gardens, sports fields and car parks, is prohibited. This includes stu- dents, employees, visitors and other people who use school premises, including community groups. This is an opportunity for the teachers and stu- dents to share with you the fun and exciting learning happening in their classes. There will also be an events page, which will include photos, accounts from the students and a blurb from the teachers re- garding the activities and events our students are involved in.

The P&C Disco A big thank you to our amazing parents and P&C members and friends that helped organize and coor-dinate the school disco this week. I would also like to thank all the teaching staff here at Buxton PS, their dedication and commitment to the students is excep-tional and they danced the night away and laughed and joked with our children giving up their own family time. The students had a great time and except for a few extra grey hairs for me the event was a great success. Look out for this in our events pages.
