Soupcan Offering for Covenant World ReliefBring Soupcan Banks to Church, Sun., March 24th
As part of our looking OUT! goal, PCC Kids will participate in Feb & March in a soupcan offering
for Covenant World Relief. Covenant World Relief is the humanitarian aid ministry of the Evangelical
Covenant Church. The goal of Covenant world relief is to participate in Gods transforming mission
in the world through disaster relief and community development among the most vulnerable. We work
with Covenanters and other partners around the world to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable
who suffer from extreme poverty, hunger, disease, and injustice. Our mission is to love, serve, and work
together with the poor, the powerless, and the marginalized.
We will use special calendars with daily activities families can do together to help kids understand the
needs of people around the globe. Set aside a few minutes each day in February and March to work on
this and reflect on those we are helping through the offering. Return your soupcan banks to church on
Palm Sunday, March 24th.
Opportunity for Great JOY! - Palm Sunday and Easter Volunteers

seeing Gods love become real in the heart of a child all the time - now
you can too! Weve seen amazing growth this year. Well continue to
welcome new families with two services on Palm Sun (Mar. 24th) &
Easter (Mar. 31st) at 9:00 & 10:30 am, with a full childrens program at
each. We need lots of volunteers to help! No prep neededour regular
volunteers will prepare the lesson. You will come alongside them to
share Gods love. You can choose which date to serve - or better, both!
Choose which hour (9 or 10:30) and the age group youd like.

Gradeschoolers: Join us Sundays at 9:00 a.m., February 10th thru March 24th for another amazing
Journey to the Cross. At 9:00 a.m. we will use art, reflection, writing, and other experiences to explore
deeply the biblical stories leading up to Easter Sunday. At 10:30 a.m., we will continue to explore the
stories in different ways, using game, drama, writing, and meditation. The program will culminate in
some opportunities for sharing with both the preschooler and with the whole congregation on Easter

Sunday Mornings for Kids at 10:30 a.m.
Godly Play (Preschool) Focus: Seeing Jesus
Club 145 (Gradeschool) Focus: Journey to the Promised Land
In our Kids Ministry, we will pursue our look up! goal by focusing on Gods activity in the Bible
stories we explore each week. Godly Play (preschool) does this through the use of thoughtful
wondering questions that invite the children to enter the stories imaginatively. In Club 145,
gradeschoolers maximize their growing reading skills by learning how to use the Bible themselves toquestion, explore, and understand Gods Word.
During Jan-Mar., the Godly Play (preschool) stories will focus on Jesus life and ministry as we begin
the Lenten time leading up to Easter. We will particularly look for what each story shows us about
Jesuswho he is, why he came, and what we can learn about his heart for the world.
Club 145 (gradeschool) stories will continue our survey of the Old Testament as we look at the
journey of the people of God to the promised land through the stories of Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and
Moses. As we enter into Lent (Easter season) in Feb. and March, we will connect those Old
Testament stories with the Lenten stories the gradeschoolers are hearing at 9:00 a.m. in Journey tothe Cross 2, through common themes and images: water/forgiveness; bread/ reconciliation; rock/
prayer; cross/ sacrifice; seeds/ new life. A special highlight will be a Passover service on Mar. 10th
that will help kids see the connection between that ancient celebration and the Easter story.

50 Adults and Kids celebrated Lunar New Year by Making 700
Dumplings in the Gym
The Young Families Group hosted its second Lunar New Year party onSunday, Feb 10th. Its the Year of the Snake and Sunday was the actual
New Years Day where millions of folks from Chinese and Vietnamese
traditions celebrate with their family and friends.
Experts and novices to dumpling making rolled up their sleeves, ready to
work. After a short demonstration by Dan Huang, they quickly assumed
the task of scooping meat into round dumpling wrappers. Some got fancy
with their folding designs. Others just wanted to make sure the meat stays
intact.
They were surprised at how enjoyable dumpling making can be when youchat and make dumplings with friends.
Soon, their efforts were rewarded by some freshly made dumplings. The
kids paused from their crafts and games to enjoy some too.
And to everyones surprise, we all not only had our fill of dumplings but
had plenty left over to take home to enjoy another day.
