OUTGOING CHAIR MESSAGE
Dear Members,
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Chair of the Board and for your support. The Central Florida Chapter enjoyed a successful year in that we grew our membership, raised funds for Accounting scholarships at UCF, sponsored fundraisers for several charities, sponsored monthly CPE sessions, hosted a golf tournament, sponsored Field Day for students, sponsored the Academy of Finance, arranged socials for our YCPAs, educated teens at various local schools in Financial Literacy, and provided our membership with a viable website.
None of this would be possible without the support of the entire Board. I would like to thank each Board member on behalf of myself and on behalf of our membership for the time and talent these individuals have graciously given.
Serving on your Board had proven to be a great learning experience and provided me the opportunity to grow in leadership skills. Again, thank you for a great year! I will serve on your Board this year as Past-Chair and look forward to an exciting year under the direction of our new Board Officers.
I encourage you to stay involved with our Central Florida Chapter and your local Professional organization, and perhaps consider volunteering some time to your Chapter. Have a wonderful summer, and I will see you at our local events!
Sincerely,
Ann Stachura, CPA/PFS/CGMA
Chair, Central Florida Chapter of FICPA

INCOMING CHAIR MESSAGE
As I begin my tenure as the Central Florida Chapter Chair, I’d first like to say that it’s an honor to have to opportunity to serve in this capacity over the next year and I am particularly excited about the advancement opportunities that lie ahead for our profession, especially at the local level.
I owe a great amount of gratitude to our Immediate Past Chair, Ann Stachura, whose leadership and dedication has allowed our Chapter to accomplish and often exceed all of the current year goals. I would
3 Central Florida FICPA Newsletter – Summer 2013
also like to thank our Executive Board Members who have worked tirelessly and devoted time and resources to lend to the vision that makes the Central Florida Chapter the strong and successful Organization that it is today. Throughout my years of experience with the Central Florida Chapter, I have learned that the inherent drive and dedication of our Board Members comes from a history of great leadership and sense of service, which have proven invaluable.
During the course of this year, the FICPA has focused efforts on engaging students and young CPAs in our Membership. In support of the FICPA’s efforts, I hope to carry this message to our local Chapter, as these individuals are the future of our profession. It is important that we focus on the changes that are occurring within our profession and that the traditional methods for involvement at the Chapter level have evolved may not be what the next generation is seeking.
The Central Florida Chapter Mission and Goals have always included: support for our membership, support for the profession and serving the public. I hope to continue fulfilling these goals and address the needs of our current Chapter Membership while engaging the newest group of professionals to continue our mission for years to come.
We welcome any feedback on ways to improve your experience within the Organization. I encourage you to visit our Chapter’s website at www.centralfloridaficpa.com to see how you can become involved and take advantage of all of benefits that your membership in the FICPA can provide. I look forward to hearing from the Membership and seeing you all at our future events.

FINANCIAL LITERACY UPDATE
School’s out, yeah! While the students are taking a break, so is the Financial Literacy Committee. During the school year, this committee makes presentations to educate the students on basic financial literacy concepts. The lessons include questions and hands on exercises. The State organization provides
4 Central Florida FICPA Newsletter – Summer 2013
committee members with the presentation handouts and exercises for the students. Hard copies are provided for those schools that request hard copies; otherwise, students view the presentations during their class sessions. The goal is to keep the students engaged in the learning process and to leave them something that helps them plan for their financial future.
It’s not too early to volunteer for the 2013-2014 school year! Please contact me if you are interested in providing basic financial information to our high school students before they graduate.

ANNUAL PUTT-PUTT FUNDRAISER
On April 27, 2013, the Central Florida Chapter of the Florida Institute of CPAs, hosted the third annual putt-putt golf fundraising tournament at the Congo River Miniature Golf Center in Altamonte Springs. The event was a big success, thanks to a large number of sponsors and the more than 50 participants.
This event offered a great opportunity to bring the whole family for a day of fun and support local Accounting students. The funds raised from this tournament will be awarded to University of Central Florida (UCF) students in the coming 2013 Fall and 2014 spring semesters. Thanks to everyone who participated and helped to make this event possible. We hope to see you again next year!
