Principal’s Report ~ Milly Stone
Hawkesbury Eisteddfod On Monday the Senior Concert Band participated in this eisteddfod. They placed second, which is the best that we have ever achieved. Congratulations and thank you for the hard work of Mrs Spall, our amazing conductor for both bands. On Tuesday it was the Beginning Band who performed. They played so well and received Highly Commended. Thank you to Mrs Philippou for all her organisation for this event. Next Thursday the Senior Concert Band will participate in another eisteddfod in Penrith. Well done Dural.
Beecroft Zone Field Events Congratulations to all the competitors who participated in the zone field events yesterday. Your behaviour and sportsmanship was outstanding. Please read the report on page 4 from Mr Field for results. Good luck to those students who will be participating in the track events carnival next Wednesday.
Hills Public Speaking Finals These will be held at the school on Tuesday morning. Good luck to all the finalists.
Change of going home arrangements If plans have changed in regards to going home arrangements, please contact the office no later than 2.45pm. At times, the office can have up to 10 calls almost on the bell and it is difficult to get the message to the students. Your help in regard to this matter is greatly appreciated.
Going Home The safety of our students is paramount at all times. At Dural, to ensure that children are collected safely every afternoon, please read the article on Going Home Routines on page 3. We thank you for your ongoing support in regards to this matter.
Term 3 Invoices Please remember that Term 3 invoices are due by tomorrow, Friday 16 August. It is important that they are paid by this due date as we need to pay external providers. If payment is not made, your child/children will miss out on activities and I am sure that you would not want that to happen. Payment for Bathurst is due tomorrow, however the Year 4 excursion is due on Friday 23 August. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Afternoon Collection Routines
At Dural Public School it is our responsibility to ensure all students are collected
in a safe and structured manner at the end of each school day. Please see below
our guidelines to collecting your child each afternoon from school.
After School Collection Guidelines
All students need to be picked up promptly at 3:18pm. Any students not collected
by 3:45pm will be taken to the office and a parent/carer will be phoned.
Children are to be collected from within the school grounds from either the K-2
blue shade cloth playground or the silver seats at the front of the school.
Students must wait within school grounds to be collected and are not permitted
to wait outside any school gate.
Students being collected from either the front of the school or over the bridge,
must wait on the silver seats until a parent/carer is sighted. Students then have
permission to walk to their parent/carer’s car either at the front of the school or
over the bridge.
Students are not permitted to play in the playground after school, this includes
play equipment areas and with any school sporting equipment. This is due to no
Department of Education staff supervising this area after school. Students must
remain with parents once collected.
Dural Public School staff thank you for your support and co-operation in
ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students.

Athletics Field Events
Carnival Report
What a magnificent day it was yesterday
at Greenway Park for a Field Events
Carnival. No wind, cool conditions and a
cloudless sky made for fast 1500m and
800m events as well as sure footing for
high jump and long jump.
Well done to the Dural Team on your
behaviour and efforts in the Field Events.
Mrs Lee and Ms Stone commented on your
easy and relaxed nature throughout the
day. This probably contributed to our
marvellous results.
Notable performances include:
Katie B, 1st 1500m and 1st in 800m heats,
who narrowly missed the 800m record set
by now Olympian Jenny Blundell, back in
2004. We hope you give it a great shake
next week.
Ryan M, equal 1st in high jump but ended
up finishing second in a thrilling jump off.
Olivia H, 1st in long jump, flying well over
4m. She also finished 3rd in high jump.
Johnny M 3rd in shot put, it just keeps
getting better every year Johnny.
Justin B, 3rd in discus with an almost 25m
throw.
Next Wednesday we have the Zone Track
Carnival. Permission notes went home
today.

Katie B National Athletics Fundraiser 13/8/19
Dear Parents,
As a school we have decided to help out the Bowrey family by having a sausage sizzle
fundraiser to help cover the huge costs of flights and accommodation to compete at
Nationals.
Recently Katie B in year 5, qualified for The National PSSA Athletics Carnival in the 800m
and 1500m. This is a huge achievement but comes at a great monetary cost to her family as
the carnival this year is held at Darwin in The Northern Territory.
If you would like to order a sausage sizzle and drink for lunch on Thursday 29th August
please complete the order form below and return it to the school office with payment of
$5 per order by Monday 26th August 2019.
Thank you
Mr Field, on behalf of the Bowrey family.

This week we have been focusing on recycling.
Using our old plastic juice bottles to make plant
holders and pencil holders.
We’ve been making the most out of our cold
mornings with warm hot chocolate, hash browns
and cheese toasties then enjoying the warmer
afternoons playing bulrush, poison ball, limbo
competitions and endless games of soccer.
Remember spring vacation will soon be here so make sure you book your spots so you don’t miss out on all the fun. Dural Oosh
