The swimming pool is now in operation and classes are into the final days of the ‘clubs programmes’. Over the past couple of weeks we have managed to hold our Athletic Day and the Kapa Haka group performed at the Te Kopuru Arts festival. The last weeks will be very busy right up until we finish after prize giving on Wednesday 17 December. We are currently finalising our classes and teachers for 2015, these will be confirmed after our BOT meeting this week. There will be some changes for teachers and class structures. We will be introducing more multi level classes in a move to cater for student learning needs, use of technology and teacher/student management. This will develop and evolve with consultation over the next year. The two digital learning rooms are continuing and we will be introducing multi-level rooms of year 2 and year 3’s and a year1-4 class. If you require more information on these developments please contact me. DPS ATHLETICS We were lucky that the weather held for us to hold our athletic day last Wednesday. As a safety precaution, due to the damp conditions, we had to move the high jump competition in to the hall, that meant a few changes to the days programme. FROM THE PRINCIPAL We are now into the last few weeks of the school year.

MUFTI DAY FOR STAR SHIP Star Ship Hospital has been a place for care and support for students and families of DPS over the years, currently one of our students Ellie is a pa-tient there. Our school wants to support Star Ship by raising funds through a student mufti day. This will be held this Friday 5 December. A gold coin donation would be appreciated.

PIANO CONCERT The students who learn the piano at school will be holding their concert on Wednesday 10 De-cember at 11.30am to 12.40pm in the school hall. All welcome. Please note the change of date.

YEAR 6 SOCIAL To be held Monday 15 December in the school hall. A separate letter will be sent home to all year 6 students.

SCHOOL SWIMMING The pool is now in use for school swimming. All students will participate in the ‘Swim for Life’ pro-gramme activities, with their class teacher. Health and safety issues that we need to enforce so that our pool water quality meets the NZ Pool Water Quality Standards are: If your child has had diarrhoea recently they

are unable to swim for a period of 2 weeks. You will need to advise their teacher or the office if they have been infected with this illness.

School sores: children are unable to swim until these have completely healed.

All students will require a bathing cap, togs and a towel. Bathing caps can be purchased from the school office at a cost of $4.00.

LIBRARY BOOKS All library books should be returned to the library. Please check at home for any you may have missed. We will be doing our end of year stock-take in the last week.

THANK YOU The DPS students from the Hair Club would like to say a big thank you to Tania, the owner of As-sociates Hair, for allowing them to spend an en-joyable and educational morning at Associates.
