Bavaria Community and Spouses’ Club
A letter from our President Greetings: I am excited to be a part of such a dynamic Spouses Club in our newly named Garrison, USAG Bavaria, the Crown Jewel of Bavaria. The Bavaria Community and Spouses Club is in full swing as we implement many changes to our Club, planning and executing events, activities, trips, and professional development courses for our Community Mem-bers and all performed by our fabulous Volunteers. As we move forward implementing these changes, I ask for your patience. We are all working hard to make our Spouses Club what you want. If you have an idea, please let us know. If you can volunteer to Chair a board position to help implement some of our programs on Tow-er Barracks, WE WANT YOU! Lend your talent, expertise and time to your Community. It helps others and it makes you feel great to see the fruits of your labor. BCSC has numerous sub-clubs to help you experience life in Eu-rope. From Dining Out, Writers Workshop, Sewing Club, & Antiquing —we do it all. All you have to do is join in the fun! We always have a group going somewhere or engaging in an activity like our Chili Cook Off or the Fall Arts & Crafts Fair and most recently our Nuremberg Antik Market trip to Germany’s largest Antik market! There are incredible opportunities for you to meet new friends, travel and gain new experiences. Don’t forget to come out on Oct 5th for the Fall Arts & Crafts Fair at Bldg 134 on Rose Barracks. Our Spouses are so creative and talented and this Show gives them the opportunity to share their work with you, our Community. There will be something for everyone and unbelievable bargains! I hope to see you there to show our Spouses just how much we support them and their crafts. As the weather begins to change, it brings some incredible op-portunities to view the fall colors in Bavaria. Get out and join us as we explore Europe and all it has to offer. There is so much going on in our Community it seems we never have a spare minute. We are trying to squeeze in as many activities as possible before the winter weather ar-rives and I just wish there was more than 24 hours in a day or that I didn’t require sleep! Hope to see you at the Chili Cook Off this Saturday, the Arts & Crafts Fair on Oct 5th or at an event or activity soon! Best!
Christina Vaughn

We had a great time out at the Rose Barracks Commissary and I would like to say thank-you to all of our won-derful volunteers who helped kick off the Fall Bavaria Community and Spouses’ Club membership drive! We had a very successful start with more than 52 incoming applications including new members and renewing memberships! A special recognition to the fol-lowing for volunteering this past week-end. We could not have done it without your help!
Congratulations to Tiesha Saldana, BCSC Member who signed up at the

I am in love with Fall. The changing of
the colors, the new smells like pumpkin
and cinnamon and spices. I love the
cooler weather and the scarves. Yes,
Fall and I have had a long time love affair. Of course, the
avenue I use to feed this obsession is Pinterest! If you
are not familiar with Pinterest, don’t worry, you are just
a few clicks away from an organized collection of all
kinds of different things! The links below will send you
to two fabulous Pinterest Boards dedicated to all things
Fall, and they will give you some great ideas for deco-
rating, crafting, and recipes! If you see something you
like, just click on the picture twice. It will take you to
the website where the idea came from and give you
detailed directions on how to proceed. I’ve chosen
these two boards to share because they come from the
fabulous ladies from Everything Etsy and Craftaholics
Anonymous - both of whom have given me lots of good
ideas over the years! I hope you enjoy this months Pin-
terest Pick!

Fresh flowers and crystal candelabras adorn each table. Pleasant music fills the air. The smell of lasagna and garlic bread greets the diners in their “Sunday Best” as they enter the room. The Vilseck Elementary School Multipur-pose Room has been transformed into an elegant setting to celebrate two well-deserving students from each of the 4th and 5th grade classes. Students are con-sidered for selection based upon highest GPA or most improved GPA. As they dine, an honored guest from the community encourages them to keep up their efforts to do their best. Sparkling cider and a custom cake provided by the Vilseck Commissary concludes the lunch. BCSC coordinates this unique celebra-tion once each quarter and the students love it! Approximately, 6-8 BCSC volun-teers cook, set-up, serve and clean-up to recognize about 18 students at each luncheon. Parents are encouraged to attend and witness the event. If you are interested in volunteering at this event, please contact our Hospitality Chair Amy Brown at [email protected]
Grafenwoher Community and Spouses Club and Vilseck Community and Spouses Club combine to create
Bavaria Community Spouses Club
Wednesday September 10, 2013
Over the summer the Grafenwoehr Community and Spouses Club (GCSC) disbanded and turned over its assets to the Vilseck Community and Spouses Club (VCSC). The Vilseck Community and Spouses Club is undergo-ing a name change and will now be the Bavaria Community and Spouses Club (BCSC) which will serve our entire community including Tower Barracks and Rose Barracks.
VCSC has been an active spouses club since 1956 and we will continue to provide the same level of ser-
vice to the entire Bavaria community under our new name. The BCSC is open to all US DOD ID Card Holders and has a reputation for encouraging participation from active duty, family members, civilian, enlisted and officer spouses.
Along with providing social and cultural opportunities for its members, our mission is to raise funds
throughout the year which we then distribute in educational scholarships and community welfare grants to members of the Bavaria Military Community. Last year the VCSC distributed $75,000 through these projects and we look forward to continued success as we serve the entire installation.
Christina Vaughn, President, states, “Another program close to our hearts is the Responsible Pet Care
Campaign, which VCSC implemented in 2007. It was instrumental in establishing the pet parks on both Rose Bar-racks and Tower Barracks, and we collect pet food and accessories at Hidden Treasures Thrift Shop on Rose Bar-racks and at many of our events and then deliver them once a month to the Amberg Tierheim to support the abandoned American animals in their care. In addition, we foster and re-home abandon pets to loving, forever homes as well as sponsor a FREE spay and neuter day once a year.”
The BCSC also pays for all members to attend the Red Cross First Aid and Babysitting certification courses. Some of the social opportunities we offer include sub-clubs with a variety of interests, (Sewing/Quilting
Club, Book Club, Writers Workshop, Maj Jong, Lunch Bunch, Dining Out Club, Antik & Trodel Club, Fit Club) Arts-and-Crafts fairs for spouses to share their talents with our community, an annual Bazaar, and exciting trips to ex-plore the local area and nearby countries.
Please visit our website at VCSConline.com and we will keep you posted as changes to the website and
Facebook page occur with our new name. Join in on all the fun and take advantage of our generous programs as
we continue to support and give back to our Community! We look forward to starting a new chapter with you all
as the Bavaria Community and Spouses Club.
