BeachCleanups
Start At OurFront Door
Even in uncertain circumstances, it’s up to all Texans to help keep our coast and oceans clean. Although our Fall beach cleanup was cancelled, we’re encouraging everyone to participate in our virtual cleanup throughout the month of September. Grab a trash bag, a mask, and head to your nearest beach, lake, park, or anywhere where trash accumulates. Post your photos with the hashtag #GiveTrashTheBoot for a chance to be featured on our social media accounts.
Just one bag is all it takes to make a difference.

This past May, the winners of the 2020 Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest were chosen. 40 overall winners were selected, and among them Grand Prize winner, Yinyun Ji of Sugar Land, Texas. Yinyun Ji is a 5th grader at Forever Creations Arts Studio and will receive the grand prize package. Yinyun’s teacher, Sulin Huang will also receive a prize package. Congratulations to these talented Texas students.
The winning artwork will appear together in our 2021 calendar, which will be distributed throughout the state.
This year’s grand prize winner will receive two round-trip coach-class tickets from United Airlines or United Express to any destination in the 48 contiguous United States, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, and Central America, one 7-night Caribbean cruise from Royal Caribbean International departing out of Galveston, Miami, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, Port Canaveral or Puerto Rico, and a class party at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston. The grand prize winner’s teacher will also receive two round-trip coach-class tickets from United Airlines, and one 7-night Caribbean cruise courtesy of Royal Caribbean International. Congratulations to these talented Texas students!
All 40 winners will receive a ticket to the USS Lexington
in Corpus Christi, two tickets to the Houston Zoo, a ticket to the Texas State Aquarium, two all day passes to Schlitterbahn Waterpark in Galveston, prizes and a certificate of recognition from the Texas General Land
Office and a calendar displaying the winning artwork.
“It was truly an honor to judge the artwork submitted by our young Texans for the 2020 ‘Treasures of the Texas Coast’ Children’s Art Contest,” said Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush. “The Texas coast is an integral part
of our great state and is worth protecting, maintaining, and keeping clean for wildlife and Texans alike to enjoy. I was incredibly impressed by the artwork submitted and congratulate the winners on their outstanding accomplishments. Keep up the good work and remember that you’re never too young to help keep our Texas beaches clean.”
