St. Ann School News

Our Family Fest Weekend is here! Our fair is a

wonderful, wholesome community event that has

been a tradition in St. Ann Parish nearly 40 years. We

thank the many people who support our fair. The fair

proceeds help our school maintain our high

educational standards. Tuition alone cannot cover all

school expenses. St. Ann Parish subsidizes our school

and is the reason we exist. But we need the support

of all to expand and meet the needs of all parish

families. Here are some other ways to contribute to

our school:

1. Please clip and save the General Mills “Box tops

for Education” labels and the Community Coffee

UPC codes, “Cash Back to Schools.”

2. Please consider a “matching gift” program with

your employer or a future endowment to St. Ann

School.

3. When you shop at Office Depot, please designate

St. Ann School and 5% of your purchase will be

credited to our school.

4. Please consider a personal donation to our St.

Ann School Endowment Fund on December 2nd,

the Archdiocesan “I Give Catholic” Day.

Our school Walk Through tours will begin on Monday

Oct. 14 at 9:30 am. If you are considering enrolling

your child in our school for the 2020-2021 school

year, please come one Monday at 9:30 am for a tour!

St. Ann School has been accredited by AdvancED

since 2001. We have met the rigorous standards for

quality assurance. We are proud to be a member of

this prestigious educational organization. Our school

also meets state of Louisiana accreditation standards

and our PK2 program meets all state licensing

standards.

Each October, our school participates in Respect Life activities. The school will have two Respect Life Masses this month. The St. Ann middle school stu-dents will be investigating the area Catholic High Schools. It is our goal to assist our students in reaching their highest level of success in high school. Each year we are proud of the number of our 7th grade students who receive academic scholarships to area Catholic High Schools. We are also proud that we have an impressive number of former St. Ann School students who have, through the years, achieved the honor of Valedictorian or Salutatorian at their Catholic high schools.

Friday, October 18th is “Grandparent’s Day” for our youngest students. Grandparents and special friends were invited to visit the PK2, PK3, PK4 students and the kindergarten students. The grandparents and special friends will spend time in the classrooms and shared refreshments with the students. St. Ann School has an active Grandparents Club. All Grandparents of school students are invited to join. Please call the school office at 455-8383 or email [email protected] for more information on the St. Ann School Grandparents Club. Sunday, Oct. 27th is Priesthood Sunday. We appreciate Father Billy and Father Vincent for their inspired and generous service to St. Ann Parish and School. The students will have a special “All Saints” assembly performed by the kindergarten students . The students will have a holiday on Nov. 1st.

The mission of St. Ann Catholic School is to

educate and enlighten the whole child by

fostering lifelong moral integrity, Catholic faith

and academic excellence.

We welcomed back our

Little League World

Champion!

THINK! REACH! SHINE!

In conjunction with RCIA beginning in October, I am beginning a “Come Home to

Your Catholic Faith” ministry. Throughout the year I will be inviting our fallen away

brothers and sisters to take a look at how to return to the faith of their Baptism.

These messages will be available in our parish bulletin and on our St. Ann web

page. You can reach me by leaving a message for me on our parish voicemail

system at 504-455-7071 extension 2257. You can also approach me in person to set

up an appointment.

Stay tuned for future invitations to Come Home to Your Catholic Faith.

Sincerely yours in faith and love,

Deacon Tom

Almighty Father, you desire not the death of the sinner, but that he may be converted and live. Pour out upon us Your mercy and hear the prayers of Your servants. Soften the hearts of Your children who have strayed from the true path which You established for their salvation. They are now forgetful of their duties as Catholics, and pursue the pleasures of the world. Grant that they may quickly return to the practice of every Christian virtue, so that their lives may shine with the integrity of faith, the fervor of piety, and the ardor of charity. Restore them all to Your sacraments and the life of Your grace, through the merits of the most precious blood of Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

Come Home to Your Cathol ic Faith

Be the Face of Jesus Ministry

The committee met on October 25 to put together the gift bags. If you would like to come to the next meeting it will be Wednesday October 30 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Raymond room of the Parish Center. Little children are welcome!

If you have anyone in your neighborhood that has a new home, new baby, sick family member, or a recently deceased family member, please reach out to us so that you can share with them one of our thought bags. The thought bag is a small gift for the family and a note from St. Ann Parish to let

them know we are here for them and praying for them, no matter what religion they may be. Our goal is to build bridges with our neighbors in our community.

You can email for a thought bag to be picked up or brought to you, or the home you wish to share with.

DO YOU WANT TO BE AN ALTAR SERVER?

Any boy or girl in grades 4th through 12th who wants to serve God as an

serve our parish. We will begin a new training class to coincide with

the beginning of our liturgical year, Advent. The harvest is plenty, but

laborers are few.

The deadline to register is Monday, October 21, 2019.

Training classes will begin in November, 2019.

Ashley Code wanted to serve others and

to be the face of Jesus. Inspired by her

generosity and love of Jesus and with

the support of the Code family, St.

Ann Men’s Club began the Ashley

Code Pay it Forward Memorial Golf

Tournament to raise money to support

active St. Ann Parishioners and their

families who are facing financial hardship due to debilitating illness. The Ashley Code Fund was created from the

proceeds of the golf tournament. A portion of this fund is set up to provide financial assistance for those within St.

Ann Parish community who have a financial need due to serious medical needs. Any St. Ann parishioner who is

facing a debilitating illness should fill out the Assistance Application Form, which can be obtained on the St. Ann

website under the Ashley Code Golf Tournament link within the Men’s Club tab or pick up a form from the church

office.
