WINGS OVER TA’ QALI 2010 The sixteenth edition of our Annual Event was blessed with good weather, although the wind picked up considerably on Sunday. For fear of missing somebody, I am not going to mention all those who lent a hand in the organi-zation of the event—thank you very much and I appreciate very much your participation. Likewise can be said of those members who brought one or more models for display—without them the show would not have been what it was. I was quite disappointed, however, with the turnout of members for the Saturday evening recep-tion. This was advertised and mentioned more than once in the Newsletter and yet only a cou-ple of dozen members turned up. As happened in previous years when the Association held this event, a Best of Show model was chosen by the public using their entrance tickets. Wonder of wonders, the public preferred vot-ing for my Ju87 Stuka rather than the many flashy and nice models which were on display!! The best three placings were as follows First Franz Zammit Haber Model Ju87 Stuka Second Edwin Van Der Maat Model Fokker DXXI Third Johan Micallef Model Yak 54 Those members who would like to have a copy on CD of a complete set of photos of the event,

taken by Mr Ian Bellinger, can do so by contacting me. The price is Euro 5 which will go in the coffers of the Association. I will also shortly obtain a video version of the event in the near future, prepared by Mr Joe Briffa. Our Annual Dinner

As is customary, the Association’s annual dinner will be held in the beginning of January so as not to clash with other events connected with yuletide. The date will be FRIDAY 7 JANUARY and the venue will be the same as last year’s—the MERIDIEN HOTEL, BALLUTA. All other details appear on the next page. Members and their families wishing to attend must book in advance and not later than WEDNESDAY 5 JANUARY The Unlimited Trophy Event Held in good weather on Saturday 13 November, the event attracted a total of 6 participants. This event consists purely in impressing the judges with your performance and all participants showed a good deal of sportsmanship. Undoubtedly, however, Johann Micallef stole the show by performing daredevil 3D maneuvers with the transmitter held behind his back!!! The final placings were as follows First Johann Micallef 280 pts Second Daniel Mifsud 245 Third Wayne Galea 230 Fourth Joe Pule’ 200 Fifth Alan Mercieca 190 Sixth Laurence Dalmas 185 Next Event On Wednesday 8 December, a public Holiday, we will be holding the last ’competitive event of the year—for helicopters. Mr Jojo Bonett is organizing the meet and I will be judging the par-tricipants. So you helicopter buffs get ready for some adrenaline pumping! Xmas Drinks I hope you have seen the note on the previous page regarding our annual get together for drinks during Xmas. All members are welcome to join us at the clubhouse from 11 am onwards. Our Clubhouse

As can be seen, a facelift has taken place in our clubhouse with a new set of chairs, two open cupboards to house magazines, a charging sta-tion and a revamped Frequency board. Please keep the clubhouse clean—Throw away used coffeed cups and sugar sachets in the dustbin please!! Don’t mess up the table with engine oil and drop used tissues in the dustbin.

Scale Event An ex-calendar Scale event will be held on Monday 13 December, a public Holiday, weather permitting. Come and watch or participate.
