What Format Do You Prefer for New Statement Stuffers?

The Marketing team is working on new statement stuffers on a variety of topics and would like to know your preferences on format.

In years past, we provided 3-to-a-page which you could cut and insert into standard business-size envelopes and include with your monthly statements. More recently, we’ve been providing full-page fillable PDF versions which accommodate multi-purpose use: as a

folded piece for statement stuffers or other mailings; as a stand-alone leave-behind piece; or as an emailable piece.

In our hope to provide what most of you want and will thus use, we’d like to hear from you. Please let us know if you’d prefer:

    3-per-page version

Annual Sales Meeting – It’s Getting Warmer!

The dates for the Wilbert Annual Sales Meeting are Wednesday, January 22-Thursday, January 23, 2014. We will let you know soon where the annual event will take place, but we’re pretty sure it will be warmer than last year in Chicago! This year, we are going with a mid-week meeting, so be sure to make a note of the change.

    Directory Changes

It’s important to help us keep your information in the Wilbert Directory updated. Recent changes in personnel and their email addresses help to keep the communication flowing. Sometimes it’s a matter of a new phone or fax number or maybe a typo has been noticed, so please let Barb know. If you want to add personnel to the eNews mailing list, email Barb at [email protected] and include the person’s full name and company name in addition to the email address.

We thank those who have sent in their corrections for the Wilbert Directory and request that everyone send changes to Barb at [email protected] as they occur.

    Students Tour Wilbert Plant

The September 2013 and March 2014 classes of Worsham College of Mortuary Science (Wheeling, IL) students attended a burial vault manufacturing tour at American Wilbert Vault in Des Plaines, IL on June 11. Following a classroom education at the college in the morning, the students got a close-up look at the manufacturing processes associated with Wilbert brand burial vaults. A group lunch at Little Villa in Des Plaines followed the 45-minute tour and presentation, led by Dean Brandt, Assistant Manager and Mike Pazar, Director of Manufacturing. Leading the students in the classroom education on burial vaults were Anne Iacubino Artac and Mike Beenblossom, Sales Representatives at American Wilbert.

Licensee Participates in Mock Funeral for High School Students

Our friends at Turner Vault in Toledo, OH are involved in an annual mock funeral for high school students, timed to coincide with prom season. The program and reenactment includes a two-car crash scene, graveside funeral service and courtroom hearing/sentencing. Students, parents, First Responders, Turner Vault, and others from the community unite to show what can happen when young people decide to drink or do drugs and then get behind the wheel. Turner Vault’s role comes at the mock graveside where they set a Tribute vault, tents, and chairs. If you’d like more information or suggestions on how to implement a similar program in your area, contact Steve Turner.

New Ad, New Fillable PDF: Cremation Toolkits

Attached to the email that delivered this eNews is a new fillable PDF for your use, mirroring a new ad which will run in the trade journals over the next several months.

“Toolkits for Building Your Cremation Business” highlights key resources available through you that can help customers build their cremation business.

Through educating families and presenting them with options on services and memorialization products, your customers can enhance their cremation business and margins. At the same time, families will generally appreciate full disclosure and guidance, leaving them with a better experience and high regard for the funeral professional.

This ad and fillable PDF also reintroduces Commemorations, the program that allows your customers to design their own cremation packages and present them in a personalized brochure. We’ve spoken to funeral directors who have seen dramatic turnarounds using the Commemorations system, taking their cremation business from a spiraling race-to-the-bottom into a profitable business with most of their families choosing services and additional products.

You can also download this and other fillable PDFs from the Marketing section of the Licensee website: www.wilbert.com/licensee/marketing/statement-stuffers-and-mailers/

    Inside Sales Corner

    Rental Fleet

The rental form program was developed back in the 80’s as a special service to those Licensees who had limited sales per year in odd size vaults. At that time, WFSI was using the honor system, meaning that when one Licensee was done with the form, they would ship it directly to the next Licensee on the rental schedule. Unfortunately, WFSI can no longer offer this system because the forms had not been cleaned and maintained after each use; in many cases, the rental had to be returned to WFSI for full inspection and major repairs before it could be used by the next Licensee. Forms required steam cleaning because there was so much concrete build-up inside of them that the inner core affected the closing of the outer plates. It is still WFSI’s intention to have rental forms available for your use; however, when these forms lay idle in our repair shop everyone loses. As of now, all forms have been cleaned and repaired with replacement parts when needed and a new policy has been initiated.

With the new policy, the form must be returned to our Broadview Warehouse for inspection when the Licensee is finished using it. If the form is found to be dirty and full of oil, the Licensee will be charged $75 per hour to have it steam cleaned. If any damage is noted, you will be billed for replacement parts and labor cost. If you decide to clean the unit yourself before shipping it back, steam cleaning or high-pressure washing is recommended. Care must be taken not to leave standing water inside the base and cover. This will result in rust forming on the cover dome and inner core sides and ends.

Rental forms in your possession are for your use only; do not pour units for another Licensees or give them this form for their use. Licensees are to call Marlene Miller with an estimated date when needed to be put on a rental schedule. Usually the rentals are included with a liner load; you will lose three skid spots on your truck for the 34" rentals but you can fill the area next to rental form with drums, wire and miscellaneous items.

Please keep in mind that liner-load shipments are ONE WAY now, so returning the form to the Belmont or White Bear Lake Warehouses will be at your expense. You may want to consider having your empty 5-pks, skids, cover racks, etc. go back with the form to save yourself some of the expense. When shipping the rental forms back, please band the cover and base together, using a 2x4 to separate the base, cover and carapace jig. DO NOT place the cover inside of the base.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Marlene Miller at ext. 116.

    Liner Load Order Forms

The latest version of the Liner Load Order Form is available on our website, Wilbert.com in the Licensee Relationship section. Please print off a copy and acquaint yourself with the list of items on the form. If you do not see the item you require on the latest Liner Load Order Form, the item(s) is not available from our Belmont or White Bear Lake Warehouses. You must write the item(s) on a separate sheet of paper with your company name and location on top and fax it in with your liner load order. Because of the busy nature of the Inside Sales Department, problems have occurred when Licensees type-in items not pre-printed on the master Liner Load Order Form. To explain, when one of the ladies is entering a liner load order, she will stop and write down a typed-in item on a separate piece of paper when she sees it; if she is interrupted by an in-coming phone call before having a chance to write it down, that item may be forgotten when she returns to entering the order. Your writing the special items on a separate piece of paper will help ensure that the items are not forgotten.

The Broadview Warehouse usually ships a truckload to the Belmont and White Bear Lake Warehouses on a weekly basis. If you need items shipped from Broadview to the other warehouses to complete a liner load order, please get that order into Insides Sales at least TWO weeks prior to your loading date. Yes, you may fax in your transfer order prior to faxing in your liner load order; just mark the order “Transfer for my liner load order scheduled for _______ (ex. 7/28/13).”

Keep in mind that there is a fee of $49.25/100 lbs. or less to transfer items to the Belmont or White Bear Lake Warehouses for your liner load. WFSI does not charge this fee on metal liners or forms being transferred. If Inside Sales sees that it will cost you less to ship an item via UPS rather than paying the $49.25 minimum fee, they will ship the item via UPS.

One last thing, liner load orders need to be in house at WFSI ONE WEEK prior to your loading date. If we have not received your order within that time frame and we are out of stock on that item, the Licensee will be responsible to pay the less than truckload expense to ship this item.

    Speed Bump Strentex® Bases

As a reminder the C54030-Strentex Speed Bump Bases are available and appear as a regular item on the new Liner Load Order Form.

This month’s GPO Spotlight centers on the Licensee Network. The level of success of any Group Purchasing Organization relies directly on the amount of participation. Increased participation by the network as a whole will provide for better leveraging and deeper savings as these agreements are renewed. There have been many successful experiences between many Licensees and the GPO suppliers. Here is what some of the Licensees are saying about their experiences:

”We have purchased three trucks through Wilbert’s alignment with GPO suppliers.

The most recent was a Ford F450 HD through Roesch Ford. The process was very simple. We contacted Hugh McKenty and sent him specifications of exactly what we needed. He in turn responded with an extremely competitive price within a day. The price offered significant savings when compared to local Ford dealers. The truck was ordered the end of January, manufactured and shipped in the middle of March to a local Ford dealer. The process was seamless and we are happy with the monetary savings with which Wilbert’s GPO provides.” – Joe Keeler, Wilbert Vault Works,

    Hudson, NY

“I have always thought that Michelin tires were

the best in quality and performance. Market studies have shown that fact time and again. A year ago I made the decision to use Michelin exclusively on all our vehicles. Wilbert’s GPO arrangement helped seal the deal. I am confident that I can purchase any Michelin product at a fair price from any Michelin dealer, anytime, anywhere.” – Mark Minnick, Minnick Services

    Corp., Fort Wayne, IN

“We buy several paints from Sherwin Williams. The color

variance and quality is very close to what we receive from Wilbert. We only get a liner load every three months, therefore by using Sherwin Williams we are able to reduce our paint inventory with a competitive product.” – Lance Archer, Charleston Wilbert

    Vault Co., Summerville, SC

“Office Max has provided our company

with savings on many everyday items. The product, speedy delivery and customer service are terrific and much appreciated and keeps us as a loyal customer.” – Trish Johnson, Northern Wilbert

    Vault Service, Grand Forks, ND

“Our uniform company UniFirst has been with us

for a short time now and has been prompt with service and answers. We are happy with their service.” – Bob Zimmerman, Turner Vault

    Company, Lima/Northwood, OH

We appreciate any feedback you have in your dealings with the GPO suppliers as well as feedback on any other product you would like to see under a GPO agreement. Please send comments to Mike Signor at [email protected].

Thanks again for your continued participation.
