Dear abhayans!

I count this as one more blessed moment as I write for the signature page for abhaya....wherein the good transformations in my life happened...This is Sushma, an abhayagraduate, presently working with Infosys at Hyderabad. Speaking about my firstinteraction with abhaya takes me 7 years back to 2006. Since then, the journey was veryenriching and wonderful for me. It was all started with receiving many lessons of lifefrom the founder in the educare meetings during sunday mornings.... and then abhayagave me an opportunity to be part of it by volunteering for all its noble initiatives. I havemet many god given brothers and sisters at abhaya... from whom I learnt lot many thingsand got inspired.

There was a learning from each and every activity, I involved in abhaya H.E.A.R.Tinitiatives since my joining abhaya in the year 2007. Every single opportunity is to teachme, transform my personality and make me a good citizen of this country in serving thosein need and spread the cause around.

abhaya "Home of Happiness" is a dream come true for me which needs a special mentionof all great initiatives, which is the greatest gift of my life that cant be replaced forever. Itake the opportunity here to thank all those magnanimous hearts and hands working onsuch a huge project.

Do I need more words to describe what abhaya gave me.... Can I find another placewhere i can experience all these at this part of my life... Will I be ever able to thankabhaya for what it made me today... YES I CAN, by understanding the problem of myfellow being as mine.... finding ways to provide "abhaya" ... inspiring people... standingas a person with good values and thoughts...being a person of actions but not words!!!

I request you... not to treat service as a special thing..but like another day to dayactivity...not to treat every rupee you give for charity like a loss..but like the GOD's gift toyou which you are able to pass it on... not to treat those people giving their money andtime to help the poor as different..but think you can also be one amongst them..a littletime over the weekend you spend for good work as a moment of joy and giving...don'tcomplain for what you are not getting..but to be grateful and show gratitude for what isalready on your plate... wealth is not what you carry along with you...a good name iswhat you earn forever, which cant be stolen but only be remembered..I will bet you arethe one going to feel blessed and satisfied before you close your eyes to sleep tonite.

Before I sign off, let me thank you abhaya , one more time...for what I am today...andwhat I am thinking I should be tomorrow..! Thank you for being with me all through thedifficult and happy times...I wish I can do the same as I progress in my life.

Moving ahead with implementation of the new companies law,

government will soon begin notifying detailed rules for its various

provisions, beginning with the much-awaited CSR norms in first

week of January 2014. Replacing the nearly six-decade old

regulations for corporates, the new Companies Act makes it

mandatory for certain class of profitable enterprises to spend

money on social welfare activities and such expenses are estimated

to total about Rs 15,000-20,000 crore a year. The rule-making

process for Companies Act, 2013, saw extensive public

consultations and the exercise is now nearing completion, while CSR

regulations would be among the first to get a detailed set of rules.

The Ministry has finalised the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)

rules and we have send it to the Law Ministry for vetting. In about a

week's time, we will notify these rules," Corporate Affairs Minister

Sachin Pilot told PTI in an interview.

According to him, the rules are exhaustive and efforts have been

made to include as much as possible, including health care and don't spend and you don't report, then there is trouble for theenvironment. Besides, a provision has been made under which any company.activity deemed as CSR by the board of the concerned company �Asserting that any activity should be approved by the company'swould qualify for the same, provided a disclosure is made about that CSR committee and the board, Pilot said the government only wantsfor the benefit of shareholders and other important issues relating to "full disclosure".CSR are as follows: �The government would not want to be the judge and jury on how

steadily blooming in all avenues. The smile on every inmate just amplifies this

fact.

Just as a new born slowly starts walking and taking control of its body aHoH is

slowly trying to get self sustained. It took its first steps towards it recently by

setting up the kitchen garden. As part of organizing healthy activities for all

the existing inmates and make the home self-sufficient:

The Management Committee headed by the Chairman Sri Meda Narasimhulu

decided to set up Kitchen Garden at the Campus with the kind support of Sri

Damayan Reddy of Lotus Kitchen Garden. Sri G Vidya Sagar – Trustee &

Member of abhaya planted the first saplings on the divine soil of HoH. Soon all

the inmates will have naturally grown organic vegetables for their

consumption. We pray and wish, this garden flourish and enrich the souls of

the inmates. Our heartfelt thanks to Sri Ravindra (SR & Associates) and Sri

Meda Narasimhulu (Chairman) to stand-by and support the Mission.

Mercury in Hyderabad fell to as low as 14 degrees this winter making it extremely

challenging to even go for a stroll in the nights. However abhayans are undeterred

and are on their mission to care for the people on roads by spreading a warm

blanket over them. Hunt the Winter updates during December 2013 is as follows:

I feel very happy to be part of abhaya Hunt the Winter this year also. My friend Sainath Reddy who introduced

me to abhaya also accompanied me in hunting the winter. We saw so many people shivering on the roads

with bear bodies and it made us to feel anguish. The low temperatures on the roads during mid night making

us shivering with jakets around our bodies... we could easily understand the situation of those people as they

have no any blankets for protection. I was happy to hunt the winter as it surely helped those on roads to little

extent if not giving a permanent solution. As a person, I may have small monies to procure blankets for such

people... but joined by abhaya I could serve at least 15 people. - V Sridhar, Vasishta Life Sciences,

As we did previously, this year also we were on

abhaya 'hunt the winter, effectively and

completed successfully. We have distributed 15

blankets to the most needy people on the roads in

the winter nights. Our 5 member team started

from Khairtabad at 11.30 PM and ended at

Lingampally at 2.00 AM. We met many beggars

and street people during this journey and served

them to their happiness by covering them with

abhaya blankets.

While going towards Fatehnagar we saw one girlpicking covers and eating the leftover food itemson the road side. We gave a blanket to her and shewas so happy with that. I, Jagadeeswar, vinod,chandrasekar and dileep participated in thisactivity. All of them were so happy for have donethis type of good service. - Sreekumar,Hyderabad.

This is the second time which i am participating in this program. It was nice feeling that when a needy smiled at us while givingblankets at the required time. We felt so happy that, we are part of this good work at the same time we also felt bad that this manyno of people are still struggling for the basic needs. Hoping for the better future for them. We were 4 members done Blankets distribution on 23rd Dec 11:30PM to 2:30 AM. Distribution was started form MGBS and Ended

at Dilshuknagar. We have covered the areas MGBS , Kacheguda, Nallakunta , Shivam, Ramanthapur, Nagole, Kothapet and

DSNGR. Many blankets were served near Shankar Math area, Nallakunta. as many as 40 blankets were made use for the needy.

We enjoyed a lot during hunt the winter, as every time we have seen real smile in their faces who are suffering , We never get that

type of happiness even if we pay lakhs. We also planning to go for distribution in other areas. Thank you so much for giving a

The chill of winter doesn't discriminate between poor or rich, everyone feels it equally.Hence helping the needy in the right time at the right place becomes extremelyimportant. It was an adventurous long late night ride. I am feeling elated just not because of the ride,but being the reason in providing warmth to the poor and needy, who are sleeping in thechilling winters. Even in the face of difficulty Dastagiri & Siva who had a little frightening

experience in the mid night, tried serving the needy on the roads. The only

abhayan Dastagiri along with his friend Siva hunted the winter

for poor people in the streets of old city and nearby areas,

abhayan Shubhraj Singh connected his friends through

facebook and pooled for 20 blankets. He also volunteered to

distribute those on his friends'' behalf. Vijaya Krishna

(working for TCS), a friend of Siva Krishna expressed his

readiness to participate and involve his own friends in the

noble cause. Abhaya happily agreed and he teamed up with 19

others to come together for distribution. They have

distributed about 30 blankets as three groups across various

parts of city.

It gives me immense pleasure to write about something which

gives me a great satisfaction. And one such great moment in

my life has occurred on the eve of xmas this year. It was a

warm feeling of joy on the chilling midnight of 24th Dec when

I, along with some self driven and self motivated enthusiasts

participated in the 'Hunt the winter 2013' initiative by abhaya foundation. With a group of 19 members, friends and colleagues in

TCS Hyderabad, daring the cool breezes and driven by service mindedness, we have roamed around for 3 hours late in the night,

distributing about 30 blankets to the absolute needy along with some toffees and biscuits, posing ourselves as secret Santas. I

am actually fortunate to be a part of such memorable event and feeling rejuvenated for ending the year with a service bang.

Hope to continue this activity in coming days also by motivating many more people and covering different areas of Hyderabad. –

It's my pleasure to get an opportunity to serve the Abhaya for the 2nd year. This was genuinely a good initiative to serve the

needy people in this cold weather conditions. Compare to last year this winter season is pretty cold and it was quite difficult to

find the right people since the condition has forced people to locate in warm areas to avoid the severe cold.

We started hunting the Winter on 14-Dec 2013 and we barely found people in North Bangalore. And, again we gave our best

efforts on 21-Dec 2013 and found group of people who were taking a shelter in vast open space covering themselves with

multiple jackets, toned blankets and etc. Apparently, we manage to serve the people and we have promised them to provide

few more blankets due to shortage. I would like to thank my friend Rehan who was part of this hunting season and helped to

Most memorable experience for Girijsa Vikasa Kendra School (GVKS) Team at Addatheegala, EG

Dist on 25.12.2013 as abhaya Founder, CS Balachandra Sunku along with well wishers Sri

Hansraj Bothra, V. Sridhar and Sarat C Eswara visited the school and spent a day with the Board

Directors, Teaching and Non Teaching Staff...most importantly the 160 School kids.

The Board Directors invited the Founder to be their special invitee for the Board Meeting. SriS.Bhavanarayana, Joint Secretary GVKS briefed about the project since inception in 1975. CSBalachandra Sunku addressed the board members in regard to critical issues and its resolution. Hefurther advised the board members to take the problems to the specific donors and take thedonations through cash or kind. Sri Hansraj Bothra who was happened to be there in the BoardMeeting moved by the plight of their issue, very kindly announced 75,000KGs of rice with the supportof his friends and relatives in and around Rajahmundry. He also declared a cash donation of Rs.5000/- PM. He further asked the school team to collecct 20 bundles of electrical wires for rewiring inthe premises.

He further suggested to fix niceflex banners depicting various activities of the School forvisitors to understand the 4 school for the past 4 decades.within the premises around the school.

While this is on at the Board Room... Sri Sarat C Eswar & Sri Sridhar sat with teaching staff in the Computer Class Room(Set up by Infosys, Hyd) and explained the Computer Basics.

Later, entire students of school very lovingly displayed their rare talents like Sanskrith Sslokas, TribalDhimisa Dances, Janapada Kolatams, Piramids before abhaya team and GVKS Team. Thereafter CSBalachandra Sunku celebrating the birthdays of Class IV Student, Sarat and JesusChrist... joyfully addressed the gathering. His address was so interactive... evensmall kids of 5 years sat with rapt attention and made them to feel excited about Values, Character, Health & Hygiene, Prayer etc., The entire campus was electrifiedwith the presence of abhaya / GVKS Teams... it was a rare day in the history of GVKSwhich witnessed most divine things on 25th Day of Dec'13. I am very pleased to share my personal experience and learning that I bring

home, out of kind opportunity. The Team Abhaya had given in letting me

accompany and participate along with them in their one day visit to the Girijana

Vikas School, Vedurunagaram village ( East Godavari Dist. - Andhra Pradesh)

set up to educate and groom tribal kids.

As it was a mere less than 72Hour acquaintance with Abhaya foundation that I

had, prior to this visit, though I was initially dubious, however the fact that I am

on a noble & humble cause, of meeting the blossoming tribal school kids

certainly excited and motivated me.

The Founder, Mr. Sridhar and myself left from Hyderabad to Rajamundry on

24th Dec 2013. At Rajamundry, Mr.Hans Raj Jain, an established businessman

in the town, was cordial in extending the hospitality to us. As we all were

already longing to meet the kids in school, after a short travel from

Rajamundry, we reached the Vedurunagaram village.

We were given a very warm welcome by the administrators, faculty and 200

students of the School. After a quick prayer to "Goddess of Education", in the

available time permitted, I was fortunate to deliver a knowledge sharing

session on the "Basics of Computer Operation" for couple of hours. The school

has a small computer room, with computers 5 in number.

Post the affectionate lunch served to us by the kids and school staff, the

foundation members of the School led us on a campus tour, which is worth

mentioning as it illustrates the need of the hour and lack of amenities. The

students of both the primary and high school level, had an acute shortage of

infrastructure such as beds, blankets, flooring, electrification, proper shelter

from different weather conditions in the hostel, medicines, groceries and the

list is long.

Particularly the lack of proper privacy for girl students in the hostel rooms and unhygienic

conditions was something very sad to notice. Though one can acknowledge the best possible

efforts put in by the school maintenance staff, the overall conditions definitely call for a helping

hand from everyone.

Later we all had a meet with some jovial and well prepared cultural activities where in the

students displayed their zealous, spirited singing, dancing talents and physical fitness acts. Mr.

Hans Raj and few others were instant enough in announcing donations in aid of the school and

the Founder addressed the students with great energy and passion that I hope for sure had won

hearts of all the kids and minds of all elders present over there.

The meet ended with doling out toffees, candies, stickers and pens to the

students.After spending a day, 25th Dec 2013 amid innocent students who,

despite facing challenges of multiple sorts every day, are showing great courage

in continuing their schooling, we returned back with tender memories and heavy

hearts. I sincerely yet again thank Abhaya and all well wishers of Abhaya for the

oppurtunity ! Keep up the good work ! Best wishes to the Girijan Vikas School.-

foundation, and it's was a great experience and a memorable day in the year 2013. Coming to

ABHAYA's work, I did not expect this much of dedication and selfless work towards the needy. I

Founder addressed at IMPACT' 2013The IMPACT organized by Sri Gampa Nageswar Rao with the support of Rotary Club &

GHMC, Hyderabad was unique initiative aimed at capacity building for the youth of the

country. This program is brain child of IMPACT Foundation and its founder Sri Gampa

Nageswar Rao, very reputed trainer and coach. This is done every year for the past 1 decade

without charging any fee to the participants. 1500 young graduates, 100 volunteers, 50 top

brand trainers, 10 sponsors, 6 days, 50 man hours of training, a job fair… together makes a

big IMPACT to the participants.

When heard about the IMPACT 2013, Founder sought the permission from Sri Gampa for

speaking at the event. He readily agreed and gave an opportunity for him. Founder spoke

for 60 minutes on Concept of “Complete Personality” which received excellent response

from everyone participated. It was a privilege for abhaya and its founder to be of little

support for their effort in creating employability in the state. Pleasant memories of

participants hugging, taking autographs/ photographs, scores of messages & mails, face

books friends requests, calling for another session, witnessing emotions packed with

inspiration etc., made the founder realize the power of positive and pure thoughts yet

society. Through service alone you can get rid of worries, ego,
