IMPORTANT DATES

Dear Families,

Tomorrow, our students conclude the 2017 school year and we are extremely proud of each and every child. They have given their absolute best effort in all areas and in so many ways. On behalf of the staff I thank you all for your support this year and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2018.

2018 CLASS PLACEMENTS This week the students found out their 2018 classroom and met their 2018 teacher. This was a very exciting time for our school! Our structures have changed slightly for 2018 following extensive consultation with the School Advisory Board and the school staff Consultative Committee.

quality 1:1 time with each child, and begin to ascertain the student’s ‘point of need’. Data on your child’s learning will be collected during this interview. This is not a pass/fail test! Please remember, if your child is a little worried about next year, and their class placement, be positive, and remind them that their teachers do not necessarily teach Year 1, or Year 5, but they teach CHILDREN, and they will work with ALL children to help them grow from their own starting point. We are very much looking forward to seeing all students in our classrooms thrive next year.

To book your child’s assessment interview please go online and visit www.schoolinterviews.com.au - our event code is cwq95. (See further in this News Sheet for the detailed instructions page).

2018 CLASSROOM LOCATIONS & BUILDING PROJECT This week a builder has been sent a letter of offer, following a tender process, to carry out the refurbishment of classrooms 5,6,7 and 8, as well as our library space (see school map attached). We have not yet negotiated a start date, however myself and Fr Geoff will meet with the builder and architect early in the new year so that we can negotiate a date that suits everybody.

The location of each class in 2018 will allow for collaboration and teamwork between students and teachers, while maintaining structure, discipline, harmony and flexibility. At this time, our Prep/1 class will be located in the current Year 1/2 classroom (Classroom 2) at the beginning of the year, but this will change after the refurbishment is completed. After the completion of the refurbishment our classes will be located in the following rooms:

P/1 CR Mrs Cook and Mrs Ranahan - Classroom 8 (*To be refurbished: Current Computer Lab)

2/3 VR Mrs Vermeer and Mrs Ranahan - Classroom 5 (*To be refurbished: Current 5/6V)

3/4 HP Mr Harvie and Mrs Peels - Classroom 6 (*To be refurbished: Current 5/6B)

5/6P Mrs Porto - Classroom 9 (Current 3/4T)

5/6B Miss Boyd - Classroom 10 (Current 3/4HF)

Languages Classroom 7—1 day per week (Italian Room) (*To be refurbished: Current Italian)

Performing Arts Classroom 2—1 day per week (Current 1/2CR) & Music Room

Visual Arts Art room

We will manage classes and playground arrangements around the building site with safety as our first priority. Classroom locations and movement while the refurbishment is happening will be communicated with you via newsletters next year. We wish all of our families a very Merry Christmas, safe holidays and look forward to seeing you back in 2018. Kind Regards, Michael Watt Principal
