TAMIL NADU
1. Officials from the Tamil Nadu State Marketing
Corporation Ltd. (Tasmac) have found 3,867 cases of
maximum retail price (MRP) violations at the shops across
the State between April and October this year.
The maximum violation was from the Madurai zone with 1,042
cases. In the Chennai region, there were 811 cases of MRP
violation.

2. The Madras High Court on Friday stayed the operation of
a Government Order (GO) issued by the Revenue
Department on August 30 for purchasing select temple
lands that were no longer required by the individual
religious institutions concerned and hand them over to
poor landless encroachers who were in occupation of
those properties for long.
3. After giving the much-needed facelift to a middle school
in Pulainthope, the city police plan to adopt 20 more
schools in the northern part of the city.
“Every AC has been asked to identify a school in their
range in need of facilities. We are associating with
residents‟ welfare associations, Rotary clubs and college
alumnus to provide facilities to them.”
Setting the example, the Pulianthope police station has
first adopted a middle school, run by the Chennai
Corporation, in Pattalam. A total of 206 students from
Pulianthope, Pattalam and other adjoining areas are
studying here.
4. Five young Carnatic music artistes will compete in the
grand finale of the M.S. Subbulakshmi Awards 2019 —
Voice of the Year, to be held at the Music Academy on
Saturday evening.

The station, the second-most important terminal after
Chennai Central, is being renovated by the Southern
Railway under the „One Station, One Division‟ project, at a
cost of nearly Rs. 20 crore. All works are proposed to be
completed by March 2020.
6. The State government has finally won a batch of cases
pending in the Madras High Court for nearly two
decades, paving the way for the recovery of Rs. 640 crore
as compensation from private cement companies, which
had taken government lands on lease for mining
limestone, but refused to pay annual compensation for the
damage caused to the lands.
7. K7 Computing, a cyber security solutions firm, gave
awards to industries for their contributions to the cyber
security sector. Awards were given to Department of CSE,
Tezpur University, Assam and Larsen & Tourbo Infotech
Ltd. among others.
8. Runaway cases involving adolescents from various
locations boarding trains to Coimbatore seem to be on the
rise, according to a statistics released by the Coimbatore
Railway Childline.

by former Army officer S.G. Vombatkere and activist
Bezwada Wilson.
8. The Centre will introduce the Special Protection Group
(Amendment) Bill, 2019 in Parliament next week,
Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs
Arjun Ram Meghwal told the Lok Sabha on Friday.
9. Mr. Meghwal also announced that the Centre would
introduce a Bill to merge the two Union Territories of
Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.
10. A few other Bills feature on the list of business to
be transacted next week in the winter session of
Parliament. They include the International Financial
Services Centres Authority Bill, 2019; the Recycling of
Ships Bill, 2019; the National Capital Territory of Delhi
(Recognition of Property Rights of Residents in
Unauthorised Colonies) Bill, 2019 and the Industrial
Relations Code Bill, 2019.
11. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh
Tomar told the Rajya Sabha that the events had
declined 19% this year, including a 16.8% reduction in
Punjab. However, Punjab‟s Pollution Control Board

12. 70 events to celebrate 70th anniversary
of Indo-China ties
At a time when India's relationship with China is under
some strain, the government on Friday listed a number of
projects and as many as 70 activities which India and
