We had a good group this month with 111 nominees! This was a little smaller than usual but lots of great acknowledgements. We had the following participation: MHC – 56, MPC/MDS – 23 & MWC – 32. Great participation by each of the centers and a nice step up from MWC!

Thank you for making my job so hard! :-) There were many truly outstanding nominees to choose from; I could have easily picked a number of the honorees.

I want to thank each of you who take the time to submit one of your fellow staff and recognize them for this honor. I know that it means a lot because I see staff wearing their stickers and saving past recognitions.

The selections for this month are: Leticia (Leti) Juarez, Kelsey Stockholm, & Caitlin Vick.

Leti is a long-time housekeeper at MWC. She was recognized for the positive attitude that she exudes and the excellence that she brings to her job…every day. Along with her great attitude, she was commended for the initiative she took to clean up a huge mess that was left in the conference room. The person making the nomination just ran out of time to take care of it and planned to clean it up the next morning. When she arrived…she was greatly…and pleasantly surprised to find out that Leti had taken the initiative to take care of it. Leti is recognized for her attitude and teamwork.

Kelsey is an evening PSP at MPC. She received four nominations. In two of them, she was recognized for the way she goes out of her way to help on the shift. In another she was commended for being “extremely helpful and always helps her co-workers.” She was also recognized for stepping up to help cover the overnight shift. Kelsey is recognized for her attitude, compassion and teamwork.

And last, but not least, Caitlin is a new Lead PSP at MHC, however, she was nominated while working as a PSP in CDS. She received three nominations. She was recognized helping her co-workers on two separate occasions mopping up spills in the lunchroom. In another, she was commended for her idea to make a special sign to welcome a new staff member assigned to her classroom. She was also recognized for the way she “always goes above-and-beyond” for our residents. Caitlin is recognized for her attitude, creativity and teamwork.

Again, congratulations to all but a special commendation to Caitlin, Kelsey and Leti.

Gil

Earlier this summer, Marklund received a three-year re-accreditation from CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Out of 982 standards that were reviewed, the surveyors had NO recommendations for changes. “The survey was focused on Marklund’s Community Day Services program (CDS) in Geneva but we asked them to do an evaluation of the entire organization,” said Gil Fonger, President & CEO.
