News From the Head of SchoolDear Students, Parents and Friends, "What we can't do with joy... should probably not be done at all,"from A Bold and Humble Love, Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange The more I read about our Sisters of St. Joseph and continue tostudy the women who have gone before us, the more I amhumbled by their leadership and vision in service to others. Justrecently I have been blessed with two different encounters withour Sisters: the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, Florida andthe Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. In a spirit of unifying love andin relationship with the dear neighbor, each is uniquely carryingon the heart and soul of those first founding sisters from 1650 LePuy, France. In looking to all of the Sisters of St. Joseph across the nation and
our world, their pursuit of "service to the dear neighbor without distinction" continues toinfluence our work here at OLP. What is distinct about our CSJ congregation is the manner inwhich they serve with joy! As educators in the Catholic faith, we are blessed with so many moments to simultaneouslycelebrate our devotion to our Lord and to the education of our young women. Thesecomplimentary tasks are what give joy to our work as OLP faculty and staff, and lead us to adeeper call in our ministry. In all that we do here, we seek those moments to model for our young women the joy weexperience when we can give to others and shape our world for a better tomorrow. Moreover, itis the example of our OLP pilots who consistently live this inherited legacy through their cheerfulgiving of their talents and time in service to others that continues the symbiotic relationshipstarted long ago. Needless to say, it is our Mission that guides our path and inspires our vision for the future. Inthis spirit, I thank you for all you do to support us. I wish you a joyous November and a Happy Thanksgiving holiday. God Bless, Dr. Lauren Lek Head of School

By Delia Garland '17 To me, World Youth Day was an event that changed the way I saw the world. Before wetraveled to Krakow, Poland, I looked at the people around me and didn't see any connections just faces. The international event commemorated the lives of the merciful Jesus, Pope JohnPaul II, and Saint Mary Faustian Kowalski. After attending this event with the Pope and 3 millionother young, aspiring Catholics, I have realized that every one around me has a story. Nomatter the religion or background, everyone has a life story that deserves to be told. After each large event with the Pope, all 3 million youth traveled back to the river, miles away, ina large parade. Each group had a flag representing their country and were wrapped headtotoein their national attire. For miles we walked with the youth of the nation, singing songs ofdifferent countries, and in that moment I truly felt one with the rest of the world.
