Love Wrappers: At the April meeting 39 Love Wrappers were completed which brings the total for 2019 to 170. Thank you to all who have participated in this service project. Kits containing everything needed to complete a Love Wrapper are available at each guild meeting. On April 4th, Cindy Williams and Carol Shoul made deliveries to the area NICU's and Cara Center to deliver 180 Love Wrap-pers. Cindy traveled with Carol so that Carol could be introduced to all the staff and they were filmed delivering quilts to the Cara Center! In case you have not heard, Channel 12 wanted to do a television segment on Red River Quilters and our Service Pro-jects. Cindy Williams, Cathy Ward and Cathy Callaway were interviewed by Adria Goins from Channel 12 news and will air on April 8th on the 6 pm and 10 pm news. If you do happen to miss that airing, it is supposed to be on their web site after April 8th. The interview took place at Cathy Ward's church and the interview covered information about the RRQ guild, our personal feelings on quilting and our very special Love Wrappers. Don't know how much will be included of the hour long interview but it was a lot of fun.
RED RIVER QUILTERS GUILD DAY MEETING — APRIL 1, 2019 President Jackie Pierce welcomed everyone and recognized the April birthdays. Jacquie Cottrill introduced Nancy May with Fabric Boutique. Nancy May gave a very informative demo on the AccuQuilt Fabric cutter. Mary Sewell gave an update on the quilt show. Starting May 6t, 2019, one hour prior to each meeting, they will be photo-graphing entries. Please have your paperwork filled out. Mary reminded us of the Challenge Theme which is your interpreta-tion of “In tune with the Times”. Next Quilt Show meeting April 13 at 10am at the Bossier Library. Jeannie James has been in charge of Children’s Sew Day for many years and has done an outstanding job but she will be mov-ing to Florida. Debbie Ristig has stepped up to take on this project. Jan Trump reported that we have 213 members with 73 present today with one guest. Upcoming programs: Virginia Hughes for May, and Kelly Pugh and Andrew Love will talk about copyright laws in June. Cathy Callaway announced that channel 12 would we interviewing her, Cathy Ward and Cindy Williams about Love wrap-pers. It will be aired on April 8 at 6am and 10pm. There were 22 chemo caps turned in today and 39 love wrappers. Cathy delivered 50 caps to Christus Highland. Following Sunshine and Shadows, raffle and Show and Tell the meeting was adjourned. Day Secretary, Carol Shoul
SERVICE PROJECTS CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Comfort Caps: At the April guild meeting, I collected 24 caps and a bag of batting circles from the following: Gayle Wallace, Jackie Pierce, Jennifer Holt and Liz Nelson. Thank you so much for all your work in making this project a success. I could not do this with-out your help. On March 13th I delivered 50 caps to the Christus Cancer Center and probably have enough to deliver to Willis Knighton Cancer Center next week. Thank you ladies. Cathy Callaway
Children’s Sew Day Thanks, everyone who helped with our cutting day for Children Sew Day in March! We are on track with supplies for this year. CSD will be Saturday and Sunday, October 5th and 6th, 2019. I hope you’ll schedule some time to join us as we introduce children to sewing. It’s a joy to see them sew! PROGRAMS Hi Everyone, Thank you to Shirley and Nancy from Fabric Boutique for demonstrating the Accuquilt for us this month. I hope you enjoyed it and maybe got some ideas you can use. I had several people ask me for information about previous speakers. Beth Morris did our presenta-tion on Hooking Rugs. I do not have her infor-mation. I think that Jackie Pierce may, if you want to check with her. Deborah Rubles presented on The Sliding Ruler Method. Her book is Quilters' Cutting Guide and her website is www.quilterscuttingguide.com. Virginia Hughes will be presenting to us in May. We discussed Barn Quilts, but she may surprise us with something else. A big shout out thank you to Kelly Pugh for taking care of the visual supports for May. I will be out of town. In June, Andrew Love and Kelly Pugh will be sharing information that they have acquired regarding copyright infringement and when and how to share credit for patterns and projects. We have such talented members. Thanks to everyone for all the ideas and support! Happy stitching, Jacquie

A request was received from Shreveport Stake Relief Society Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for any fabric donations to sew pillow cases. This is a service project for the Society to help provide pillow cases for children that are in the hospital. The fabric has to be 100% cotton with no glitter, just fun colors and material for children. Size for body of the pillow case is 3/4 yard and for trim it is 1/3 yard. Any and all donations will be appreciated. The link ad-dress is: http://caseforsmiles.org/ There will be a work day at 200 Carroll Street if you would like to attend. Contact Cindy Welch, 337-501-2668, if you would like to donate your time or material.
July Auction There will be an auction this year which will be held at the July Social. We need your donations for the auction. This is a great time to clean out your sewing room. That fabric that you don’t know why you bought, may be exactly what someone else needs. And that project you started and will never finish might be a new kit that’s already started for someone else. We can also sell things that aren’t sew-ing related. It’s hard to list what might sell, but if you have something you no long-er use and you think your friends might like to have, then bring it. Call me if you have questions. 318-617-5956 Thank you, Jerrie Thornton

Quilt Show Committee Highlights
Remember these dates – For entries and Photos for the Quilt Show.
May 6, 2019 before guild meeting starting at 12:00 (noon) and 5:00 pm
June 3, 2019 before guild meeting starting at 12:00 (noon) and 5:00 pm Remember this year’s challenge for your interpretation of our theme for the show “In Tune with the Times” in quilt form. You must have your written “quilt story” on the entry form, that reflects how the quilt reflects your interpretation of the theme. This year we will have 2 judges. Sandy Gard is from Edmond, Oklahoma and Darlene Landrum is from Mountain Home, Arkansas. Both ladies have been tutored by Marilyn Hardy from Tyler, Texas and has judged our shows in past years. By quilt show time both ladies should be members of NACQJ. We need a replacement for our “Children’s Sew Days” Queen Jeannine James. She and hubby are pulling up stakes and moving to Flor-ida. Jeannine has had this challenge for the last 17 years. We do have a volunteer Debbie Ristig. As Debbie has a full-time job, I feel there is enough work for another volunteer or two to work closely with her. So here I am begging for another volunteer. – Please considering helping and it is very rewarding working with the children. I am very delighted to welcome some new members of the Quilt Show Committee: Terri Hayward, Karen Carr, Colette Rachal and Sandy Bevens. Anyone interested you are very welcome to join us Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Bossier Parish Central Library on Beckett Street in Bossier City for our next quilt show committee meeting. The pattern for the Donation Quilt is “Memories of Monet” by Joen Wolfrom Designs. By the way, please do not hesitate to enter your quilts in this year ’s quilt show. The Ag Bldg. on the Louisiana State Fairgrounds is an exhibit building for Home Demonstration ladies, members of the 4-H clubs and any other type of hand work farm families want to dis-play. The items displayed can be jams, jellies, cakes, pies, clothing, knit items, crochet items and quilts. These items are judged and given ribbons just like our quilts are judged. We will not have any cows, hogs, chickens or any other farm animals near the quilts. Mary Sewell Quilt Show Chairman
