E. Praxis CORE Scores - Sp. Ed. Track Only

Students in the Special Education Initial Licensure Track must also submit: Praxis CORE Academic Skills Test for Educators (or equivalent). Upload a copy of your Praxis CORE scores. Your scores in Reading (Test 5712), Writing (Test 5722), and Mathematics (Test 5732) will be evaluated as part of your admission file. A minimum passing score is required.

STEP 3 Please complete the remaining steps at your earliest convenience to ensure all paperwork is in order. If you plan to use Financial Aid, we suggest you start the process as soon as possible.If you have any questions about Step 3 of this checklist, please contact our New Student ReadinessTeam at 434-791-7134 or [email protected].

A. $50 - Tuition DepositSubmit your tuition deposit online through our secure payment center. First, choose "GPSEnrollment Deposit". On the next screen, for "Select a Deposit Type", choose the drop down option:GPS Deposit $50.00 - and then complete all required fields.

B. Student Financial Success Guide and Financial Agreement Form

All new students should: 1) review the packet, and 2) DOWNLOAD and UPLOAD the completedFinancial Agreement Form.

C. Choose Your Payment OptionDetermine how you plan to pay for this investment in your future: Financial Aid, Pay & Go, or ThirdParty Billing which includes Direct Billing of Military Assistance, GI Bill, or Corporate TuitionAssistance.

1. Financial Aid

If using Financial Aid, please complete the FAFSA online. It is in your best interest to complete the Financial Aid process as early as possible. The Averett University School FA Code is 003702.

1. Obtain your Federal Student Aid ID Number: fsaid.ed.gov/npas2. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA): fafsa.ed.gov

2. Financial Aid Readiness

For Financial Aid Readiness, you will need to submit the Financial Aid Information Form and the Title Authorization Form. Download each form at gps.averett.edu/new-student-checklist. Once complete, upload your Financial Aid Information and Title IV Authorization Forms.

3. Complete Loan Entrance Counseling and the Master Promissory Note

Loan Entrance Counseling is only required for first time Federal Direct Loan borrowers; all borrowers must complete a Master Promissory Note. Both can be completed at the links below (you will need your FSA ID from the step above).

Pay & Go

The Pay and Go plan requires payment in full two weeks prior to each course. This includes 100% tuition/fees and the $50

Tuition Deposit.

Military or Corporate Tuition Assistance

If you are a member of the United States Military (active-duty, veteran, reserve, DOD, etc.), please upload the application and

statement and any supporting documentation.

Employer Billing plans are available if your employer (or military or government agency) will be paying in advance for your

education and the payments are not dependent on your grade for each course. This option will also apply to active duty

military personnel and students eligible for benefits under the Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment

(Post 9-11, chapters 31 and 33 only). This plan does not include Montgomery GI Bill benefits (that option would fall under our

Pay & Go plan)

All Employer, Military or Government tuition assistance vouchers must be received by the Averett University GPS Student Accounts

Office two weeks prior to each course start date. It is the student’s responsibility to request these vouchers/forms from their

employers and forward them to Student Accounts. Any costs not covered by the voucher must be paid two weeks prior to each course

start date.

Direct Bill

If you are utilizing Tuition Reimbursement or Direct Billing, upload a copy of your tuition policy and/or payment information.

D. Complete Access to Success

One of the first steps in becoming a successful college student is understanding your available resources. Access to Success in Moodle is a tutorial designed to introduce you to valuable tools and resources, and to offer you an opportunity to “practice” using the technology necessary for success in your Averett coursework. E. RSVP and Attend a Cougar Welcome Call

Every month, we invite all of our new students to attend a Cougar Welcome Call to hear important information from University Leadership, and our Student Success, Readiness, and Admissions teams. Email us at [email protected] to RSVP for our next Cougar Welcome Call (dates were sent to you from your New Student Readiness Team).

F. Order Textbooks & Review Resources Available to You as an AU Cougar!Look up and order textbooks or watch “How To” videos on getting started at Averett. You can also access library and tutoring services or Moodle tutorials on this page.
