ich freue mich, Sie im Namen der European Composites Industry Associa-tion EuCIA zur diesjährigen COMPOSITES EUROPE in Düsseldorf zu begrüßen.

Es ist inzwischen das 9. Mal, dass die COMPOSITES EUROPE unsererIndustrie ein internationales Forum für den fachlichen und technologischenTransfer bietet, welches – in Verbindung mit der internationalen AVK-Tagung – über die Grenzen Europas hinaus Beachtung findet. Das unter-streichen die Teilnehmerzahlen, die seit der Premiere 2006 stetig gestiegensind und weiterhin steigen: Mehr als 400 Aussteller aus 25 Nationen undbis zu 11.000 Besucher aus allen Industriezweigen, in den Composites verwendet werden, machen deutlich, dass die Vision, mit der wir 2006 ge-startet sind, ein guter Wegweiser in die Zukunft war.

Unser ursprüngliches Ziel war es, zusammen mit unseren Initiatoren undPartnern eine neue Messe zu schaffen, die sich als innovativste Messe imstärksten europäischen Markt für Verbundwerkstoffe etabliert.

Heute können wir sagen, dass wir es im Verbund der GründungspartnerEuCIA, AVK, Reinforced Plastics und Reed Exhibitions - sowie inzwischenauch mit Unterstützung weiterer Verbände und Industriepartner - geschaffthaben, eine international relevante Veranstaltung auf die Beine zu stellen.Die COMPOSITES EUROPE hat inzwischen weltweite Anziehungskraft,weil sie die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette dieses Industriezweiges abbildetund auch im Rahmen der internationalen AVK-Tagung den neuesten Standder Forschung und Entwicklung darstellt. On behalf of the European Composites Industry Association EuCIA, I amdelighted to welcome you at this year’s COMPOSITES EUROPE in Düsseldorf.

For the 9th time already, COMPOSITES EUROPE will provide our sectorwith an international knowledge and technology transfer forum, which – inconjunction with the international AVK Conference – is getting plenty of at-tention even outside of Europe. The fact that attendance has been, and stillis, on the rise since the inaugural event in 2006 only underscores this notion: more than 400 exhibitors from 25 countries and as many as 11,000visitors from all composites-deploying sectors illustrate that the vision withwhich we launched the event in 2006 turned out to be a good roadmap forthe future.

Initially we aimed at working together with our initiators and partners tocreate a new trade fair that would become established as the most innova-tive event of its kind in the strongest European composites market.

Today we can say that we – in a joint effort involving the founding partnersEuCIA, AVK, Reinforced Plastics and Reed Exhibitions as well as the subsequent support of additional associations and industry partners– have managed to engineer an internationally relevant event. COMPOSITES EUROPE has global appeal today because it reflects theentire value chain of this branch of industry and because it covers cuttingedge research and development, including at the international AVK Conference. Equally innovative in terms of both content and format are theexhibitor-led lecture forums, special shows and live demonstrations in theProduct Demonstration Area.

All of us – associations, publishers, organisers and you, the companies exhibiting at or visiting COMPOSITES EUROPE – can feel proud of whatwe’ve accomplished: establishing COMPOSITES EUROPE as one of themost successful industry trade fairs in recent years. In Zeiten von Ressourcenknappheit ist der nachhaltige Umgang mit Rohstoffen und Produkten, besonders im Hinblick auf nachfolgende Generationen, unabdingbar. From 6 to 9 October this year, the composites industry will get together forthe second time in the trade fair city Düsseldorf to learn about innovativeproduct and process advancements in the fibre-reinforced plastics/composites segment.

In times when resources are scarce, managing raw materials and productssustainably is paramount, especially with future generations in mind. Composites have become an indispensable part of many areas of our lives.Weight reduction is one major advantage offered by this modern lightweightconstruction material, and frequently, the right mix of materials can ensureresource efficiency.

The AVK Conference on 6 October, featuring more than 30 lecturers fromindustry and research, will kick off the session programme on compositeswith presentations covering novel solutions for production processes, in-novative materials and applications. Topics relevant to the entire compositessector such as recycling and standardisation will be examined in-depth, aswill the development of European and global markets and GRP and CFRPtrends.

In addition to the COMPOSITES EUROPE exhibitors themselves, the pre-sentation of the prestigious Innovation Award on the evening of the first dayand the “Composites Night” will provide the perfect setting for discussionsand exclusive exchanges of ideas.

die COMPOSITES EUROPE ist als nunmehr 9. Fachmesse für Verbund-werkstoffe mit zugehörigen Technologien und Anwendungen weiter auf Erfolgskurs. Dazu begrüßt Sie das VDMA Forum Composite Technologyals Partner der Messe herzlich. Wir vertreten die Technologieanbieter ausdem Maschinen- und Anlagenbau in allen Prozessschritten entlang derComposites-Wertschöpfungskette und freuen uns über das wachsende Interesse.

Ausgehend von Automobilbau, Luftfahrt und Windenergie weiten sich die Anwendungsbereiche für Composites ständig aus. Einige dieser Ausstellerpräsentieren wesentliche Trends der Produktionstechnik an den ersten zweiMessetagen auf dem Vortragsforum der Messe.

Gemeinsam mit Anwenderorganisationen bildet der VDMA in der Wirtschaftsvereinigung Composites Germany ein starkes Netzwerk zur Ausgestaltung der vielfältigen Aktivitäten auf der COMPOSITES EUROPEund zum Ausbau der Internationalisierung. COMPOSITES EUROPE, by now already the 9th Trade Fair for Composi-tes, Technology and Applications, is continuing on its path of success. Asa partner of the trade fair, the VDMA Forum Composite Technology wouldlike to extend a warm welcome to you. We represent technology providersfrom the mechanical and plant engineering sectors across all process sta-ges along the composites value chain, and we’re delighted by the growinginterest.

Starting with automotive engineering, aeronautics and wind energy, com-posites are steadily conquering new fields of application. The energy transition, the requirements imposed by climate protection andthe increasing demand for smart materials are propelling the compositesindustry to new heights, because composites have emerged as one of thekey technologies in the lightweight construction sector. Das IKV auf der COMPOSITES EUROPE 2014: „Industry meets Science“

Im Rahmen der COMPOSITES EUROPE vom 07.-09. Oktober in Düsseldorf wird das Institut für Kunststoffverarbeitung (IKV) erstmals zusammenmit Partnern aus dem RWTH-Umfeld aktuelle Entwicklungen und Highlights aus den Bereichen Prozesstechnik, Auslegung und Qualitätssicherungauf der neu geschaffenen Fläche „Industry meets Science“ präsentieren. Unter Beteiligung des Aachener Zentrum für integrativen Leichtbau (AZL),dem Institut für Textiltechnik (ITA), dem Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge Aachen (ika), dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Lasertechnik (ILT), dem Fraunhofer-Institutfür Produktionstechnologie (IPT) und dem Werkzeugmaschinenlabor (WZL) der RWTH Aachen wird die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette von der Fa-serherstellung bis zur Qualitätssicherung abgedeckt. Neben klassischen duroplastischen Werkstoffen stehen auch thermoplastische Composites undinnovative Matrices wie Polyurethane und in-situ polymerisierende Thermoplaste im Fokus. Dabei werden sowohl neuartige Produktionsprozesse,fertigungsintegrierter Messtechnik zur Regelung und Qualitätskontrolle sowie Materialcharakterisierung präsentiert. Ergänzt durch eine Vielzahl anDemonstratorbauteilen und Führungen zu ausgewählten Highlights werden die innovativen Ansätze für die Messebesucher greifbar.

As part of COMPOSITES EUROPE, from October 7th to 9th in Düsseldorf, the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV), together for the first time withpartners from the RWTH environment, will be presenting the latest developments and highlights from the sectors of process technology, design andquality assurance on the newly created “Industry meets Science” zone. The complete value chain, from fibre manufacture to quality assurance, willbe covered through the participation of the Aachen Center for Integrative Lightweight Production (AZL), the Institute for Textile Technology (ITA), theInstitute of Automotive Engineering Aachen (ika), the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT), the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology(IPT) and the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University. Apart from classic duroplastic materials,the focus will also be on thermoplastic composites and innovative matrices such as polyurethane and in-situ polymerizing thermoplastics. New pro-duction processes, in-process measurement technology for governing and quality control as well as for material characterization will be presented.Supplemented by a multiplicity of demonstrator components and guided tours to selected highlights, the innovative approaches will be tangible for vi-sitors to the trade fair.

Darüber können sich dieMessebesucher nicht nur am CADFEM Stand in Halle 8b/H06, sondernauch beim technischen CADFEM Workshop zu ANSYS Composite PrepPost informieren.

Dieser findet als Teil des offiziellen Messeprogramms am 8. Oktober (von 13 bis 17 Uhr im Raum 814 in Halle 8b) direkt auf dem Messe-gelände statt.

The simulation software ANSYS ® Composite PrepPost which is shown byCADFEM at this year's COMPOSITES EUROPE on the Düsseldorf exhibition centre distinguishes itself particularly by her easy use and practi-cal use.
