■ Installation method■ Example of use
1) Suction piping
① Use a suction pipe with the same diameter as the suction inlet.② Set the length of the suction pipe within 1 m. With over 1 m suction piping, self-suction ability is decreased remarkably because of much air quantity in the suction pipe. This may cause pump failure.③ In order to prevent entering air to the suction pipe, submerge suction pipe below liquid level at least 500 mm.④ In the case that pump is installed lower than liquid level, set a gate valve on a suction pipe for routine maintenance.⑤ Avoid an air trap on the suction piping and provide a slight upward slope toward the pump.⑥ Set an Air-release pipe away from the suction as far as possible.⑦ Keep the minimum liquid level at a depth of more than double the suction pipe bore diameter from the tip of the suction pipe. If the liquid level is lower, air can enter the pump and cause dry running.⑧ Place a strainer at the inlet of the piping to prevent foreign matter from entering the suction pipe.Clean the strainer periodically to prevent clogging and minimize loss resistance.
① Using the same diameter pipe for inlet and outlet is recommended. When you use smaller pipe than discharge inlet, self-suction ability is decreased because of insufficient air exhaust during self-priming. Moreover, it causes increase of pipe loss. In the end, decrease of the flow rate would happen. ② Set a check valve to prevent “Water hammer.” When installing situation is like as below. The discharge pipe is long or the discharge head is more than 10 m. Actual head is higher than 9 m. Two or more pumps are used in parallel.③ Set a gate valve on a discharge pipe for routine maintenance.④ Set a pressure gauge to check a pump operation.
