TWILIGHT SAGA

A typical convention of a website is the loading button. The shape of the moon here, along with the lines across on each side indicating the buffering of the website, all sets the atmosphere of suspense, triggered from the first movie Twilight.

From the colour scheme, we can immediately identify that the film deals with the genre of suspense, drama and some element of romance; the moonlight has connotations of passion aswell as intensity.

The poster of the film has been used as the background of the website; something that I decided to take on board when making the Nick website. This is helpful in giving the viewer an insight into the characters aswell as just watching the trailer.

The picture of the DVD copies on the left are helpful in reminding the viewers that the film is now available to purchase. The kicker “OWN IT NOW” is powerful in its mode of address, not being exclusive at all and instead, being very inclusive to anyone who takes interest in this film.

The composition here is strong, as we have a clear view of the main characters in the film, with the moon shining in the background, playing a big role in the predestined and foreshadowed lives of these 3 characters.

The size of the trailer is rather big, which like the Valentines Day trailer, is helpful for clear viewing for people with weak eyesight, however it interferes with the clear eye flow of the

website and cuts off the image in the background, making the composition here look rather weak. If they had moved the trailer lower to allow the viewers to see the background, this

section of the website would have looked much more organised. This said, the colour scheme of the trailer, using shades and hues of brown and gold, has powerful connotations of the moon, therefore contrasts well with the costumes of the

characters in the background.

Allowing viewers to preview the upcoming film of ‘Eclipse’ on this website is helpful in promoting the sagas of this film, therefore providing it with a bigger fanbase. The social

networking buttons are very small and have very dull colours therefore are difficult to allocate on the website.

This said, the permission to watch the trailer on the Iphone widens the concept of synergy and possibility of watching the trailer on devices other than a computer. The suggestion of

downloading the trailer on Itunes and Youtube are convergences that Valentines Day website did not consist of. Therefore, New Moon follows the codes and conventions of social networking

more potently than Valentines Day.
