Charity ~ Unity ~ Fraternity ~ Patriotism
Brothers, Ladies, Families & Friends,
Just a quick but important update for this month. At our last
council meeting the brothers unanimously passed a motion to move our
council meetings to the THIRD WEDNESDAY of the month. We will
keep the normal starting time of 6:00 pm for dinner and 6:30 pm to start
the meeting.
Since the council’s primary purpose is to be in service to our par-
ish, we felt it was critical to maintain closer contact with our pastor and
chaplain, Father Christopher. Father Christopher’s weekly day off is on
Mondays, so it was important for the council to move its meeting day to
support Father’s availability.
We hope this schedule change works well for most of you and
hope to see a number of new faces at our council meetings. Please don’t
be shy to show up even periodically if that’s all your schedule allows. For
some of you, this schedule change may be burdensome and I urge you to
keep in touch with the council, the brothers and the ladies, and our activi-
ties via alternate means such as our newsletter and emails.
This change will take place immediately so our next regular council
meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 15th! I will send out email
reminders as we get closer as well.
Viva Cristo Rey!
Grand Knight’s Message
Danny Duffin
A kindergarten teacher was walking around observing her
classroom of children while they were drawing pictures.
As she got to one girl who was working diligently, she
asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I'm draw-
ing God." The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows
what God looks like." Without looking up from her draw-
ing, the girl replied, "They will in a minute."

The Value of Membership Referrals
As your Field Agent, one of the things I appreciate most is when one of my brother Knights or his wife refers another member to me. This is a great endorsement of the service I provided. It tells me that you were so pleased with the value of what I helped you accomplish that you want me to help those close to you achieve the same level of financial safety and security. Similarly, there is no stronger membership recruiting tool than the referral. How many of us know an eligible Catholic male who is not a member of the Knights of Columbus? Do you have Catholic family or friends, local or not, who have yet to join? Most likely, they’ve never been asked and don’t know enough about the Order to seek out membership on their own. If you have names of potential members, please pass them along to me, your Chancellor, or your Grand Knight. Let us know if we can use your name when we contact the gentlemen in question. It’s always more effective to tell a potential new member that he was recommended by a current member, especially someone he knows. Don’t forget that often our best recruiters are right there in our own homes – our wives! Many members I’ve met with found their way into the Knights based on conversations their wives had with a KC member’s wife. After all, what Catholic woman doesn’t hope for her husband to be become a better man, a better father, a better Catholic, and a better husband? Don’t worry if the candidate is outside the area I serve or beyond the district of the local councils, we can make sure we put these future members in touch with the right people in their communities. . Perhaps they’d like to “test drive” membership through the e-membership program, available at www.Knights.net. It’s a quick, low pressure way for them to join, it encourages them in their faith through regular email content and provides an easy door into a local council as soon as they are ready. New members working hand in hand with current active members are the lifeblood of the Or-der. All the good deeds done by the Order are driven by the members. Over the past decade, Knights have given more than $1.65 billion to charity and provided in excess of 700 million hours of service. And our membership has merely scratched the surface in New Mexico. Imagine the po-tential!

LET US PRAY... Prayer to the Immaculate
Heart of Mary
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Heavenly
beauty and splendor of the Father, You
are the most valued Heavenly treasure.
New Eve, immaculate in soul, spirit and
body, Created of the godly seed by the
Spirit of God, You are the spiritual Mother
of mankind.
Pure Virgin, full of grace then and now,
Your whole being was raised Heavenly in
full glory, To be elevated above all the
hosts within the Kingdom of God.
O Heavenly Mother, Queen of Heaven
and earth, I recognize the glory of your
highest title, The Immaculate Heart of
Mary!
Loving Mother, dispenser of endless bless-
ings, You who continuously intercedes on
our behalf, Please present my need before
your loving Son Jesus.
(In your own words, make your special re-
quest here)
O Immaculate Heart of Mary, I know that
you are now presenting my need before
Jesus, For you have never turned away
those in dire need.
Mother dearest, I await your favorable
answer, Submitting myself to the Divine
will of the Lord, For all glories are His for-
ever and ever.
Amen.

From the Brothers
Dear Brother All:
Twenty-three years ago, the President of the Coats for Kids, Karen
Bailey started this program to help the less fortunate children in our com-
munity. Throughout the years she has had many sponsors help support her
so that this program can succeed. As of last year, I have put in many efforts
to help support this program by collecting all the used winter coats from the
lost and found section from the schools in our community. Prior to me col-
lecting these gently used coats the schools would dispose of them because
they had no way of storing them. Last year our council collected 800 coats
from five schools in our community. These coats were sorted and sent to
Comet Cleaners, which is also a sponsor for this program. Comet Cleaners
then cleaned these coats and sent them back to the storage for distribution
to the needy children in our community. Our goal this year was to collect
from twenty-two schools and transport these coats to the storage facility at
U.S. Bank so that we can sort at a later date so that they are ready for distri-
bution from this program. Another goal is to continue to support the Coats
for Kids President and program so that we can continue this event for many
years to come. We would like to expand our resources and unite all our
brother knights from all the councils to engage in a joint effort in the collec-
tion and sorting of these items. In closing, I would like to thank you for
your time, and hope that we could all come together for this important event
to help the less fortunate children of our community.
Thank you!
Your Brother Knight, Narciso Holguin
