[] Twin screw pumps for the Peruvian jungle Imo Industries has recently delivered three pumps, GTS type S208-112FGEM, to Petro- Peru, SA, the national petro- leum corporation of Peru, for installation at the Saramuro pumping station located in the northern Peruvian jungle near lquitos. Each pump is equipped with a fabricated (welded) steel case which contains a replace- able cast pearlitic iron rotor housing within which the pumping screws rotate. The replaceable pumping rotors are also of cast iron and mounted to alloy steel shafts. Mechanical shaft seals are of the positive drive design, Viton fitted and use a carbon running face against a silicon carbide sta- tionary seat. Pump casings are equipped with adjustable pres- sure relief valves for over pres- sure protection. Each pump is rated to deli- ver 100 gal/min (34 000 B/D; 277 m3/h) of residual oil at 960 rev/min against a discharge pressure of 275 PSIG (19 bar). Maximum oil viscosity was specified at 4500 SSU (970 cSt). The pumps were supplied with transmissions and clutches for drive by diesel engines. Each pump is installed on a pontoon and used to unload 10 000 and 20 000 barrel (420 000 and 840 000 gallon; 1590 and 3180 m 3) barges of residual oil shipped on the Marafion river from the lquitos refinery. The residual oil is delivered to storage tankage of 450 000 barrel (18 900 000 gallon; 71 500 m 3) capacity through a 10 in (254 mm) pipeline, a distance of 200 m (650 ft). The residual oil is blended with crude oil and piped to Bayovar on the Pacific coast via the Peruvian Trans-Andean Pipe- line, 846 km (525 miles) of 36 inch (914 mm) diameter.
